I am pretty sure this petition is pretty pointless. There are hunderts of posts in this forum where a lot of people wish that several special aircraft are developed in DCS, however, how far has it affected ED?

They are working on the F-18, and they probably know what they are doing after that. Pointless petitions/polls/shopping lists probably won't change much in this regard.

i'm sure at some point they'll have an F-16

if they want to have any claim to a "realistic" near-modern battlefield at all, they'll have to have the -16

and ED has shown time and time again how committed they are to this concept of a "digital battlefield"

just a matter of time..

Wouldn't it be relatively "easy" to do an F-16 since Falcon BMS has already done a good job of it? Information on the cockpit and avionics is obviously out there.

Why has no third party taken the task on yet? Is it something political with the Falcon community?

This got brought up recently in one of our threads as well.

The problem with VEAO d ping an F16 is a couple of points

1) BMS is out there and we would be competing with a very established market.

2) Being primarily in the UK we have no access or contacts for any variant of the F-16

3) There is still a good portion of the F-16 thats classified.

We made the decision that unless a military contract comes along we can't do an F-16

Obviously this just applies to VEAO some of the other 3rd parties will have their reasons.

I personally am looking forward to more cold war jets :)

Who cares if BMS is out and it's a competing market, DCS needs to have an F-16. The most used aircraft in the world and we don't have it in DCS yet. There is still a good portion that's classified on every aircraft in DCS.

yes!

there's a (surprising) amount of data out there about the -16 that is UNCLASS (boggles my mind actually)

i think the excuse that a non-US company can't build a US jet is.. curious --- i don't understand that - info is "out there" on the internet - use it

-OR-

simply, a US-based 3rd party dev company builds the F-16 for DCS (which of them are US-based?)

(( i'm curious - why can't the guys that are doing all the work for BMS similarly group together and build an F-16 for DCS -- ?? ))

i can't possibly be the first one to think of that..

doesn't it feel like we're just on the "cusp" of real greatness??

and frustrating because it "seems like" the solution is just beyond our reach ---- its "reachable" - but we're powerless to finally grasp!

i've wondered why BMS just doesn't port, or rebuild, the f16 in dcs. they'd have a modern platform to work with, integration into a larger universe and playerbase, not to mention they'd actually get paid

Because its not that easy, the FM wont be the same at all... what so ever... just for starters. It would be starting from scratch, except you have all the info.... or some of it...

Obviously the F-16 would have to be built from the ground up all over again for DCS. But the fact that so much information is out there certainly makes it 100% feasible.

While it is amazing what they have done with such an old piece of software, the Falcon engine surely has it's limit doesn't it? Or am I wrong to assume that?

DCS is in ongoing development and expansion and provides great benefits to things like flight model etc. I think it would make much sense to see the Falcon community migrate over to DCS in time, with a fully modelled F-16.

everyone knows a F-16 would be a monumental addition to DCS (DCS:F-16c would break all sales records)....even ED has to know this....but in their defense, they did pick the F-16s competitor as their next true DCS module...the F-18....both light weight fighters....for naval ops though you will definitely need bigger landing gear and duel engines....so the F-18 is perfect....or at least I seem to think so...

...lets just hope it comes out before 2027....at which time i plan to have already won the lotto and bought my own F-16a to use instead of a car or limo.

It only takes two things to fly, Airspeed and Money.

Absolutely. Being over 40, my interest in fast movers is fading. Bring on turboprops like the E-2 Hawkeye.

A C-130 Hercules would be awesome ... tanker, gunship, combat drops with paratroopers or cargo, jet assisted take-off, short beach landings and take-offs ... so many possibilities.

We need the Raptor. It is the best Fighter ever build.

Much more better than the F-35. The Lightning is shit.

It should replace the Hog and the F-22. And it could do nothing of their Missions in the same or better quality. It is too fast and have a too light bombload to do CAS like the A-10 and its gun has a too small calibre and nearly no ammo. And it has not enough armour to fulfill their job.

And it has no redundand design.

The F-22 is the perfect fighter and is nearly invincible because of its Stealth and high tech.

Really! Is that a troll?

Many a person will argue against the F-22 being the best aircraft in the world and how do you propose to get hold of all the technical data to produce a DCS quality product?

It's good to have a discussion around whats best for the customers, but I'm not so sure the F-22 offers enough roles to be popular to the majority here.

The only real solution is to keep the mix of flyable aircraft balanced so that it offers greater fun for everyone.

Would love a blackhawk as well. The Tornado would add a great deal of functionality. What about an AWACS where you could have one person flying, another doing aircraft management.

A C-130 Spectre would be wicked.
