Ramp start time independent of takeoff time?

The GUI instructions aren't clear on how to do this. For example, I want to cold start at 12:00:00, but want a set takeoff time of 12:15:00. I'm sick of being late to arrive at waypoint 1!

You need to adjust the TOT for waypoint 1, increase it by the time you need to perform start up and takeoff procedures.

I would like to see ED develop a method within DCS, if ramp start is selected, for the mission to automatically add in time for this. Say it automatically adds 8 minutes to all waypoints. That should give everyone enough time to start up and, taxi, takeoff, form up and proceed to waypoint 1.

Roger that, I'll tinker with the ETAs and ignore all the speed values that are red/insanely low. Agreed that would be a nice feature in the future.

In the weeds mission

Eggcake, everything your saying is exactly what I'm experiencing. I can't get it to rearm at the airbase your referring to either.

I just bought DCS P-51, I already have DCS A-10. When I go to install the P-51 I am told I need "DCS world" but when I try to download the four files for DCS world I am told I need a user name and password... How does a guy like me get a user name and passeord to download these files? My DCS user name and password does not work.

That should only happen if the FTP server is at it's max number of connections. Try a different server or one of the HTTP links. None of them are passworded.

Are there any tutorials for CCIP delivery in mountainous terrain? I think there's different procedures to get the elevation data, set the floor alt, etc.

A-10 Warthog won't run

Just downloaded from Steam - game loads to main menu and then no matter what option I choose it crashes and restarts. Any suggestions?

Yes, download it from the DCS site. Takes a while but you won't have to worry about steam.

Your serial number should work with it.

Thanks for the response. I went to the DCS site - is there a place to simply enter the serial #? I couldn't see a way to do it without actually making the purchase again...Bear in mind I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed...

It asks for activation when you launch a mission. :)

Forget about the serial for now. Download DCS World here and install:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en

Thereafter download and install the A-10C module here and install:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=8&end_pos=136&lang=en

Once installed, run a mission. If not already activated, you will be prompted to enter your serial then - not before.

a-10 not recognized buy DCS world

I bought a-10 for DCS world and installed it but it is still disabled in game. I had purchased DCS a-10 thru steam a while back, and i just purchased it again. It may have been because a-10 was installed twice and had two serial numbers. so i uninstalled both copies and reinstalled the copy from DCS website. Still the a-10 in DCS world is not enabled??? HELP!

Uninstall all your A-10 copies. Install DCS world. Download the A-10 module in the same page of DCS world. It should be a 200+ MB download. Then right click DCS A-10C in steam (in your library)...view CD key. Now run DCS world, instant mission, A=10C, select something...start it, it will ask u for CD key, enter, activate and good to go.

Well, all this went fine. Everything installed and the program even runs - up to where you select a mission. It starts to load and then just crashes and the game restarts. I should have added I suppose that my system is Vista 32 bit and it seems the sys reqs recommend 64. Could this be what's hanging me up? Thanks again all who replied...

Yep! It is recommended to use a 64-bit OS. And my personal experience tells me Vista=unstable BETA of Windows7.

So especially looking into the 32-bit issue (memory), I would recommend an upgrade ;D

EDIT: You may try Nate's 2GB hack for 32-bit first, but I recommend 64-bit Win 7 anyway!

This worked - I got to at least fly a little on a practice mission. Will this have an effect (good or bad) on other system applications?

Once again, thanks to all who offered advice!

Try the "Make HTML" button in the controls settings screen.

That worked for the Ka-50, but the A-10 is missing over half the key commands.

The usual answer: it depends. Basically it allows more RAM in the lower 32-bit address space being available for applications, rather then for the kernel and drivers. Sometimes it can cause issues, especially with ONLY 4GB RAM...

As I said, a 64-bit Windows7 is a good idea, unless you have very old hardware that don't have 64-bit drivers available.

/3GB has nothing to do with physical Ram.

/3GB increases user-mode virtual memory to 3GB, while reducing kernel-mode memory to 1GB. By using /3GB you are reducing memory resources for kernel, drivers by half. Also many kernel internal structures are reduced by far more than 50%. This can cause problems.

Yes , exactly, but he was asking for the impact on other apps not on the technical details how virtual address space translates into physical memory... for a normal citizen the effect is more like more "memory" available to store things for his Applications aka DCS rather then for Kernel and drivers :D

Have a look at the neat picture here. :smartass:

Will FAC units request CAS on their own?

When I contact ground FAC, it either instantly has a target for me, or it thanks me for my good job and tells me I'm all done.

I'm envisioning a long duration, highly randomized, and low-intensity, mission. I want to check in and loiter on station, and then be contacted by ground FAC if/when they need support, i.e., if/when they make enemy contact using enroute task FAC.

Is that possible? Right now I have to keep checking in with JTAC every few minutes to see if I'm needed.
