I think he means that each indivudial missile is within a certain range of values around the BS due to the missiles not being perfect.

Ah that makes sense. Sorry for my ignorance, I will get there eventually, after many hours of shouting at my screen :P

I'm not sure what the delayed explosions is in reference to...a video somewhere? With regard to your second question, Hydras are rockets and the LAU pod is what carries the rockets, so I'm not sure what you meant to ask there.

Notice how it takes time for the targets to explode after the gun pass. As for the other,

Happens to the best of us, man.

I understand what they are there for, but in the sim, what will the player be able to transmit?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it'll be used to open up the comms menu (you know, the backslash menu), and you'll get options relevant to whatever channel that particular radio is tuned to.

Ah, it's actually on the web page: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2452&scr=default&lang=en#p14

But it's not very detailed. So there's plenty of room for speculation.

I think this is just due to the damage modeling - a certain amount of damage will result in the unit being killed, but not exploding outright until a short delay. This is I guess to simulate catching on fire when a bomb explodes nearby (but not on) or rocket attacks and so on. And the gun doesn't do enough damage to trigger an immediate explosion. Unlike say, a Maverick, or a direct hit from a Mk-82.

I don't know if it's realistic or not, since I don't routinely shoot up vehicles with a 30mm DU cannon. I would guess that in the majority of cases, hitting a vehicle with such rounds won't cause it to immediate explode in a devastating fireball. So I'd say the behaviour is reasonably realistic. It would be nice to have vehicle kills without an explosion, however. For example, I wouldn't expect the cannon to normally cause a MBT to completely explode, even though it may well be immobilised and otherwise 'mission-killed'.

For game purposes, I think it works pretty well though. You can't immediately tell when you've destroyed your target, so you need to conduct some basic BDA/keep an eye out for the explosion. It would be neat to have a small random chance of an immediate explosion though.

I agree. although selecting correct freq to talk to tanker, JTAC, wingman, CAS is pretty neat imo.

As for speculation, if we were getting IVC then I reckon ED would have made a big thing of it on the forums and on the DCS website. Shame but there you go.

However, just a thought, for those ppl with more than 2 core CPUs, aren't you better off running a Chat program in another core (assign affinity) not used by DCS along with your TrackIR.exe?

Thats the thing, I don't know how many bullets it will take to kill it. I normally waste ammo due to it.

You only need 1 bullet, .... through the head of the driver

In this thread there's mention of a mod for Black Shark which opens up IVC, maybe we'll see that for A-10C at some point! *crosses fingers*

While it'd be easy to just run something like Vent in the background, I think IVC adds to the whole immersion of the sim, actually tuning into specific comm channels to talk to your flight etc, would be very cool.

If you can export the set frequencies by LUA one could maybe make tool/plugin for TS/Vent to switch channels according to that.

By using the Lightning II targeting pod and JTACs will you just be given coordinates and have to search for the target yourself, or will they talk you on to it?

And if they don't talk you on will you at least be able to have a picture of the target area in your flight plan to refer back to? like w/ FC2 at the mission briefings there are 2 map pages 1 of the battle area and then of a photo of the target area.

If i remeber correctly we had 1 tutorial in black shark, i think the 1st one, which just went over the aircraft, no start up, no nothing.

will this be in the A-10C in the form of a cockpit familarization? Highlighting gagues, systems, ect? I love the switch highlights already, that will save me alot of time tabbing out.

and i guess this last one is off topic a little, will black shark get this level of quality tutorial?

Actually you use the Litening Pod to roast marshmallows for the ground-troops.........:D

Ok-serious answer:

# Have you perused the DCS: Warthog site?

If yes, read on. If no - do so

# Do you remember the 'Message Page MSG' section?

If yes, read on. If no - have a look

# Did you google '9-line briefing from JTAC'?

You know the drill.......;)

In my experience, this particular statement form this particular gentleman bodes well.

Anybody likes to feel himself like a star. ;)

And answering on the question itself... It will be possible to get target coordinages from your wingmen via datalink. Litening pod will be an extremely useful tool for target search. It will be possible to transfer over datalink coordinates generated by Litening. There will be two functions available for that - Mission Assignments, and SPI transmission.

Will there be a gun cam included in A-10C, kinda like the one GA used in his video to record the gun barrel spinning?

What about landing emergencies?? In FC2, even when your aircraft is shot to nearly dead (losing fuel, no hydraulics, loss of ACS and such systems, etc..), when you asked tower for approach and landing, it'l say: Wait in pattern... (i cannot recall correctly...)

Will be in DCS:A10 radio option like: declaring emergency=>loss of hydraulics, and tower would give you priority in landing, and will give you detailed instructions for a landing without hyd power??

I wouldn't expect so; tower comms have been said to be pretty much the same. That does imply some change of course so it's possible, but I wouldn't expect so. There's no penalty in the game for landing without clearance, so I don't think there's any great need to rush into adding 'emergency landing' clearance, anyway. It's not as if these radio messages seem to actually do anything, other than add to the ambience. Planes seem to land in a first-come, first-served basis; kind of like IL-2, but not as bad since there's usually fewer aircraft in play.

But, who knows. Maybe requesting landing clearance will actually reserve you a slot? As it currently stands, that would be the only practical use (i.e. stop AI aircraft from landing/taking off until you've landed). But for most missions, this isn't really an issue, anyway.

No, I think he means a camera next to the cannon on the side of the cockpit like in Project 10

That particular shot was achieved using some early build where the TrackIR 6DOF restrictions were insane. You could literally "move outside the cockpit" with your head (it's been fixed now in later builds of course). :)

Will the Radio Stations/Beacons introduced in DCS:BS and discussed HERE to fixed in DCSW?

Can Radio Stations/Beacons be setup for ATIS broadcasts for various airports on assigned frequency?
