Picchio Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 My fourth, as well as my fifth armed recce. During the former, I survived a scary AAA hit, and finally managed to silence the battery at Falais. Our patrol route should be a bit quieter now. But I landed on my nose. During the latter, on our way from Falais to Lisieux, we were ambushed by two 109s. Nobody saw them coming; I noticed the first one only when he was lining up his shot. I did manage to evade and eventually got behind him; during the pursuit, his wingman gave my tail section a very ugly treatment. Left elevator, gone. Vertical stabilizer, gone. No. 4 got the leader I was after, while No. 3 saved my life. I lost my wingman; the rest of us returned to base safely. I crash-landed. Here's the first ejection in my log book.
