Dusan56 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Clip vs. reflector The TrackClip is WAY better than the reflector. I first used the latter and later got the TrackClip. If it breaks beyond repair I will not hesitate to buy a new one. Charish it! Hi, I've red you above comment. Personally I used to use Trackir Clip but then one day I tried reflector and did not see any significant difference. In addition I'm saving one USB port and having reflector on my hut I don't need to have anything attached to my head with cables lingering over the pace. Seems to me it's just cleaner solution. Please share with me if you have different experience. Am I missing some special functionality?
xWARGOx Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 My doesnt even look like a TCP anymore. It just looks like a tape ball with 3 lights. I need me a splinter cell mask or something.
Ragtop Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I'm the same dusan, I've used both, and have found no significant difference between the two. After my clip failed I was hesitant to use it again. Tried it out again to be sure I wasn't missing out, but I'm never wishing for it! 476th vFG Alumni
Bulletstop Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 A very funny thing, I have had my track clip for over 3 years, but I also have a headset hanger so when done I just hang it up. It is flimsy and I realized after I broke my first one, that I needed something to hang my headset up so I do not break it again, lol. Total Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Mine lasted for almost three years. I have a coat hook screwed into the far side of my desk (aka, farthest point from any traffic) and I awlays hang my headphones up so both the mic and the trackclip stay safe. Handed my headphones to my wife one night so she could correspond to someone on TS3 and she momentarily forgot about the trackclip and she felt it collapse in her hand as she realized she had grabbed the headphones right around it. Got a replacement and all is good again. Hang the headphones on a hook rather than laying them down or stretching them over something. In the past 10 years, I'm on my second set of headphones and my second trackclip. The longevity is thanks to a bent piece of metal that cost me less than a dollar ;)
Succellus Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Hum i havent broke mine yet, but i surely smashed it and the same part popped out of its socked with luck not broking the clips that hold it. Now i take extra care. But if fubar it, i would not hesitate buying another. HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. blackbelter Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Just got my trackclip pro. Was broken out of the box. Got it from pcaviator. Wondering if I could get refund for that. In fact I prefer partial refunding without me shipping it back, as I am in Singapore. It is quite costly just to ship it back.

Druid_ Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Its probably made in China and costs 99c to manufacture. Its an awful design and sorely needs an update. I'm tempted to buy 3 small LEDs and make my own aluminium version when this one finally breaks. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q

FreeFall Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Just got my trackclip pro. Was broken out of the box. Tell me about the packaging. Was it packaged in a non-retail kinda cheap plastic bag like mine was? Even if it seems to be rather fragile. Only the bundle version (TrackIR 5 + TrackClip Pro) comes with a nice Retail package?
Daze Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 My track clip pro was also broken out of the box, I just taped it together with insulation tape and it works fine. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
metalnwood Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I broke my fist one by thinking about it. I broke my second one by looking at it. I almost got to plug in the third one and use it before it mysteriously split in two. OK, truthfully I have not had three brake on me but they are completely crap and naturalpoint should be ashamed on how much they cost and what you get, the quality is rubbish and they will all need at least tape around them at some point.

I have actually had 3 break on me. It tracks great but I agree it is a total piece of crap construction wise. Not well thought out at all........ 1 year warranty is not enough on something so brittle. NP should send people the plastic shells to build their own new TCP out of the broken remnants of the ones that fail. What is it like 15 cents worth of plastic? For this you make people spend 35USD over and over? Rubbish. Out Edited May 26, 2012 by PoleCat http://www.104thphoenix.com/

Mine is held together with tape also. Naturalpoint definitely needs to look into re-designing the area where the LED's snap into the bracket. MemphisBelle Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 same here, the "fork" (where the LED´s are placed) broke apart from the bracket. So I used a tapeconstucrtion to hold them together, works fine. I agree that the price of 35 € is way to much for such an easy breakable device BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection

PoleCat Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Yes the chances of both of the small clips surviving the break apart is about 50-50. Half the time you can pop the pieces back together the other half one of the two small molded clips that holds the pieces together breaks...done. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
MTFDarkEagle Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Yep.. Them stupid clips broke on me too. Some ducttape and wire later: problemo solved! Much more stirdy, but the threepronged piece is now in a fixed position. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
