Looks great but now I'm even more convinced my PC would die if I even tried to play this with my spec. Only running 4gb RAM and a GTX460 with an i3... can't afford a new rig either :(.

Dont be so sure yet, although you may have to tune the eye candy you might be ok, but its early to tell.. the 460 is a DirectX 11 card... so it should take some benefit from that...

Not my intent to come off as a complainer, but it cant be denied that this has been a long wait and it's still open ended. Remember ...

EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
and they have changed often. This is not a slam or meant to be offensive towards Matt and ED, but you will find many in the community that shares the thought. My deep belief and hope is that this is the turning point and the complaining will drop off dramatically, but there will be those complaining about the bugaboos after release. ;)

2.0 is going to be full of goodies, some of which have already been touched on in previous announcements, some that havent.... it will take time.... and patience... I love that its name 2.0 now, it gives more meaning to the changes coming... its not a simple patch....

It reminds me the version number change of linux from 2.6.3xx to 3.0 just because the later one is shorter :D

I'm happy to get 1.2.9 and 2.0 this year. When is not my problem, I will be patient. But please please fix the logbook problem. A hotfix after two months after the first reports would be really nice.

It really feels like they forced the MIG-21 to 2.0.0 just not to "spit into the soup" of the sabre and Dora sales... no love for third party modules!? :noexpression:

We're only on 1.2.8. If the Sabre and Dora are going to be released on 1.2.9 then 1.2.9 is next. You can't say the next version is 2.0 until 1.2.9 is out :-P

It sounded like they had some more fixing than they thought they would to do after submitting it to ED for testing. They also decided to redo the damage model or something which I'm sure isn't a 50 minute task. I think they're going to need some time...

It is purely timing... the MiG wouldnt be ready in time for 1.2.9 is my understanding.

Belsimtek is a "different" 3rd Party, they are very close to ED AFAIK, more like a different brand, but basicly the same company.

I was not meant to rant or something just it seems very strange to me that a code and feature complete (not Beta! as stated) module has been pushed back from the initial 1.2.8. release for basicly no apparent reason and then two other modules got an originally not planned sub-patch just for integration...why not the MIG, why not a week before?

 Wouldn't be ready with what? 2.0.0 integration which they are working on ATM? :music_whistling:

What are you talking about? You have me confused now... it wont be ready for anything earlier than 2.0.0.

Simple, Cobra wrote a few weeks before that the module is ready "no line of code left to write" and target version is 1.2.8 (not exact quotes but most of the people can recall the words) then silence and suddenly MIG 21 EDGE integration update, Sabre announcement and Dora pre purchase pops up...

There is some rework happening...

Hey folks,

A quick status update for you;

Currently we are working on several important things, which, when finished, will draw this project to a complete close.

Due to changing underlying rendering backend, some additional work had to be done to port the MiG-21 into 1.3.0. Initially we thought we could wrap this up fairly quickly, but this has taken longer than expected. When we finish, I hope to share with you some very nice screenshots of the MiG-21 in its' new environment.

Core integration of the AI MiG-21 package continues and is progressing nicely. Stripping the aircraft of all artwork and code that is not required unless owning the module has been completed, and we're working on ensuring that everything is working flawlessly. Seamless integration to avoid splitting the community is obviously incredibly important, but it must be noted that DCS is an incredibly complex piece of software, and adding another complex piece into the puzzle is not something that can be taken lightly.

A few weeks ago we noted that we will be sending out promo copies of the aircraft; but this has been delayed due to the ongoing 1.3.0 migration. Keeping up with two working copies of our product is a very time-consuming/wasting endeavor. Thus, when we're satisfied with the module and it's functionality in 1.3.0, we will then take a look at providing previewers with a legacy version that is representative of the newest build.

In the beginning of July, we decided to upgrade our Damage modelling to a completely new standard. We've been busy ripping the aircraft apart with a new mesh-based damage system, in conjunction with hand sculpted normals. Additionally, we have modeled most of the interior components of the aircraft, and can expose them at will. I think you'll all find it looks very satisfying, and we can't wait to show you.

As soon as we finish 1.3.0 integration and some other tasks, we'll be providing you with the aforementioned screenshots and also the planned KH-66 + RSBN + SAU video, which will continue the in-depth looks video series.

That one will be narrated as per your requests.

Some of you have noted that it'd be beneficial to gather developer posts in a single thread, and we agree.

Once the opportunity arises, we will work on compiling a FAQ/Developer info thread for quick reference on various topics.

Thanks!
