There is some rework happening...

That's nice, but that is still mostly a 2.0.0 integration related rework and the new damage model was not initially planned and to me it is more like "no we have time we can do it" kinda stuff, it was not the cause of the pushback...

The push to 2.0 for us was a surprise too. Some things concerning how damage model materials works in the new version has me redoing it. Not really 3D related, but Arguments and textures. Not to mention specular maps in 2.0

You are reading too much into it... I have said this a number of times.... the MiG is one of the first 3rd Party modules to be integrated into DCS... OF COURSE there is going to be things that come up that are not expected... some of you need to work on your patience a little bit... maybe go do some yoga...

What is worrysome about all of this? I am beginning to think that the release of the F-86 is going to be prolonged for some time. I'm kind if thinking that it won't be until after the first of August. But then....usually something will come up that puts it off even longer.

Honestly....I'm not concerned with DCS world updates and all of this Edge stuff. I'm perfectly content with the current scenery. All of the details, shadowing, mesh, and whatever else means little to me. And lets face it, graphics cards and CPU's can only give up so much detail. So I'm not at all worried about any of this stuff. I am however very interested in flying the F-86. It looks to me like we may be waiting longer than expected.

How do you come to that conclusion? After todays announcement regarding 2.0.0, there were no indications of a delay for the F-86. Furthermore, Wags even confirmed on FB: "Both Sabre and Dora will be released on 1.2.9. Sabre is planned for July and Dora for August."

Posted

I'm wondering why the Sabre wouldn't just wait for 2.0.0? My understanding is that it has taken extra effort to make the Sabre ready for pre-EDGE and then the subsequent big update to EDGE . . . . . and to me this is a bit thought provoking in that and I would think that it would be less problematic and less of a development expense if the next aircraft releases would not take place until 2.0.0.??

Does this mean that the Mig-21 will be the only aircraft taking advantage of some new shaders?

Not really a shader issue, just materials. I doubt the 21 will be the only one though.

I know I probably will just get shouted down for asking but I have to.

Are we looking at waiting till Winter for 'DCS 2.0'? I mean, I don't want to sound like a "Negative Nancy" here but this is not the first time that the MiG release has slipped, I mean, I know, I get that a lot of stuff can happen but it really is tough to go from being so close to release to being so far again.

Seriously, I have been around this forum long enough to know that "later this year" could mean anything, please tell me that it does not mean late Winter or something like that.

Is this some kind of math puzzle...

Guess which is the next patch number:

A. 1.3.0

B. 1.2.9

C. 2.0.0

D. 2.6.1

Answer: Just give me Su-27 PFM already...

If they were interesting in telling you when (or even approximately when) it would be out, I would guess that they would've included that in their post...

Wow, that was needlessly condescending.

Just as your post was needlessly pointless. Do you honestly think that your asking them is somehow going to yield you an answer from them? What would make your asking any different than the other 10,000 people who have asked/will ask?

Do you not see a problem with "10,000 people" asking for a little clarity, and not getting it?

I certainly do, but at the end of the day it is ED's choice and that's that. Some companies talk, some don't. My understanding is that they used to, then they stopped due reactions they received in response to delays/changes. In all reality they don't owe us anything or any answers. I am with you though in that I wish they were more transparent...I just don't waste time complaining about it because at the end of the day it won't change anything. After seeing how some people on these boards respond to missed deadlines or a change of plans, well, it doesn't shock me a bit that they stay quiet now instead of putting themselves at risk to have to deal with that.

Not at all, mike. From from it, actually. I just don't see the point in asking the same question plenty of folks previously have asked and not gotten an answer to. "It will be out when it's out", that is the answer you are going to get from ED, so why even bother to ask?

No.

They'll release information when they are ready.

Well, whatever version would it be, will be welcomed if only the explosion particle effects could be optimized. Whenever you drop multiple bombs or rockets, the fps dropped drastically even if I'm using a very good CPU.

Nice screenshots on FB. EDGE ist really beautiful. Also, nice to hear there are going to be more extensive improvements to 2.0.0 (whatever that actually means). My bet is 2015 though. I´ve been training my patience for quite some time already ;)

Are there any plans to contact gaming websites/reviewers prior to the release of 2.0.0 and EDGE so there would be some publicity and reviews of the new modules, egnine etc.? Or is it left to whoever finds DCS 2.0.0 in the vast expanses of the net to write about it? I know LN wanted to send out some promo copies, but they didn´t say to who or what kind of people.

Of course they don't owe us anything prior to any transactions, however poor customer rapport is a sure fire way to destroy a company's future. Outside of these forums, the opinion of ED and DCS is really quite low, with potential customers writing them off for a variety of reasons.

It's one thing to stay quiet, it's another to just keep building hype without any actual pay off. With the kind of delays and such we've seen with current projects, there's a huge amount of doubt if DCS world will actually add anything else.

ED has done a pretty poor job of dispelling these suspicions, though in their defense that'd require an actual release.

Either way, until there's something more than "TWO WEEKS, P.SURE" then expect skepticism.

No.

They'll release information when they are ready.

Then, you're a loyal customer! I hope you're proud of that!

Time to guess what " the extensive DCS World changes that are coming" means....

I just hope it doesn't mean that we will have to pay for 1.2.X modules to work in 2.0.0.

Black Shark 1 to 2 and FC2 to 3 comes to my mind.

Sorry, but I smell a rat here, there were recent changes in the ED bonus system plus the BIG version number change...

I know that ED already said that World 2 will be freeware, but I've heard nothing about the modules.

I am as exited as everybody with version 2.0 and EDGE, but I would not be able to afford all the modules I bought for 1.X.X.

I hope I'm wrong, but it might be good to clarify the situation to avoid a shock later.

Trying to get a clear answer for an unclear situation is pointless. They will tell us when they have something to say. Or would you rather have news every week about stuff that gets taken back with 90% probability.
