Suchacz Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Strange bumps in the Nevada desert What are these bumps, which you can see down there in the desert plain? You can see a square pattern made by them. Ancient Aliens maybe? :D Per aspera ad astra! T_A Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Map looks great , i was sure that NTTR was gonna be some small sandbox to fly around Las Vegas , but it look very big and you can do some real missions there (need to work out how hostiles got so deep inside US airspace though.. Dyram Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Map Size Comparison I'm sure others like this exist now (or will soon), but I was curious myself and decided to quickly whip this together using the new image and Google Earth. It's not 100% perfect (some of the mountain peaks in the north are off a little - could be the map itself and not the scaling), but using the lakes and the rough positions of Creech AFB, this is pretty close. I hope this is enlightening for other inquisitive minds. Edit: All of these years lurking and finally a first post. Huh. Edited October 29, 2014 by Dyram

Woogey Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Civilian Airports Wags just posted this 10-30-14: "We often get the question of how big the NTTR map is and the area covered. We hope this image from the mission editor will help." This map appears to extend all the way to Santa Monica, and includes North L.A./HollyWood. Their are a lot of Civilian Airports in this coverage area, not to mention a major Military one they seem to have not touched on........ Edwards AFB. Has their been any discussion of 3rd party airports like others sims have done? Freeware or Payware? -Woog
Woogey Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I think it might even squeak Fallon in there....
MBot Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I am interested in the level of detail beyond the Groom Lake-Las Vegas core of the map (textures, roads, trees, buidlings etc.). Since there are many airfields in that map area that are not modeled, there seems to be a reduction in fidelity on the periphery of the map.
loading Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 It seems so close to Santa Monica it would seem silly to not include it You can land anywhere once. the Hornet, is indeed in progress... it really does exist!
sobek Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 The focus has been stated to be on NTTR. I wouldn't expect too much detail from the outskirts. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
