tomcatter
Old news. Mi-8/17 commercial training simulator with maps using EDGE technology. Don't expect to see those maps released. Don´t mind about Bagrham, but can I expect that quality, with a smooth play?

How about Su-27 AFM? Will it be in 1.2.8? Thanks :D
joey45
Ok. How about Su-27 AFM? Will it be in 1.2.8? Thanks :D No The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Scrim
"And as usual, I base this on nothing at all." Seriously? ED hasn't even given a small hint about the next update, let alone the 1.2.8 update, so no one has a clue about how long it will take, and therefore, not an even half reasonable idea about what may perhaps be in it. That won't stop people having hopes and making guesses though. 1.2.7 was a great update but the next ones leading up to EDGE integration are so highly anticipated that everyone is chomping through the bit not just at it. Weltensegler
Question for ED or people who are involved in EDGE development Question for ED or people who are involved in EDGE development. Is the new engine going to be able to render more/better than the planar mapping for the viewport? So that on wider FOVs the stretching is compensated for? Something like cylindrical or better spherical mapping or even lens grid calculation so people with multi monitor setups or other people who like a wide FOV don't have this ugly distortion that misleads scale/distance? Thank you in advance! Thank you in advance! Weld I'm pretty sure if you setup screens/viewports correctly this doesnt happen. Using Eyefinity you have the issue, but when I run 3 separate viewports (left, center, right), each one has it's own FoV. Its a fake workaround and breaks perspective in another bad way. Takes more performance as well. Also zooming (changing FOV) with 3 cameras isn't quite... you know what I mean :) So I hope they work something out even if its just a optimized 3 camera setup. 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274

You can also change the FOV Line in the graphics.lua. Weltensegler
You can also change the FOV Line in the graphics.lua. Yeah obviously but you don't change the lua to zoom during flight. Anyways, I think we're talking about different things here. Let's get back to the original question: Is EDGE be able to provide an alternative to the planar mapping of a single viewport camera? 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274

cichlidfan
That is from the Wargame: European Escalation & Wargame: Air Land Battle people. Their stuff is very well done. EDIT: Note, that I am not comparing it in any way to DCS. As an RTS though, it is pretty sweet even though I suck. http://store.steampowered.com/app/222750/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/58610/ http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92892 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=85385 Edited March 15, 2014 by cichlidfan ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! VincentLaw
Will EDGE allow us to have battles like this? You can already have battles like that. Just use the mission editor. Ships would never get that close together in real combat, but nothing is stopping you from putting them like that anyway.
