What kind of missions are people thinking of making?

Kinda hard to imagine a whole enemy army in the vicinity of nevada, but maybe some terrorist threats is believable.

If you are not near a major city, how will you know it is Nevada?

Failing to be funny about this, but everytime I look at the map :(

While I do look forward to it, I also do hope there will be some other regions soon.

Cold War (nuclear missile stockpile depleted by treaty, before a specific event suddenly turns the Cold War powers hostile to each other)

Fictional 20th century history (Canada and/or Mexico+SA fall to communism during the Great Depression, ally with USSR against US)

Red Flag

Terrorism

Drug Trafficking

UFO interception (literal UFO)

UFO interception (aliens?)

Testing captured enemy hardware (MiG-21 Evaluation

would make a unique campaign)

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Now there's a helluva idea

UFO crash lands in Nevada desert, entire world converges on crash site in attempts to recover alien artifacts. Constant bomber threat to American airfields in the vicinity or something (some planes aren't in the game yet!)

The battlelines between other nations would be on American soil outside the map. Somewhat random belligerence by random enemy nations.

And only a limited stockpile of bombs!

Always loved that UFO mission in FSX Acceleration, I'd love to see something similar but on a grander scale. Maybe even full on invasion :music_whistling:

1. Medivac drunken pilots from Las Vegas nightclubs with the huey. :drunk:

2. Moving troops to to Las Vegas, in order to participate in poker tournaments. :D

3. Lots of training missions in order to familiarise myself with the surrounding area and be ready for ''the big moment''. The alien invasion!!! :gun_rifle::alien:

There is more than desert & Las Wages in NV. Ck out some of the lakes (Mead, Tahoe, Walker, Box etc) and some pretty good scenery up against the Sierra's although don't know how much of that will be included.

I'd like to see some progress being made on Nevada. I get that there probably isn't much to show but it would be nice to get an update at least. Hope it isn't going to be as dissapointing as Duke Nukem Forever because it's taking almost as long!

hows about getting rid of Las Vegas and changing the landscape to resemble Iraq or Afghanistan? maybe that might save on dev time.

From what I have seen, Nevada is basically finished. Now they are working on EDGE integration and testing. So scrapping Las Vegas would actually increase dev time.

Nevada will be great, plus we get Nellis AFB!

Just steer clear of Area 51, and all is cool. Even in DCSW... :music_whistling: :) :megalol:

I to would like to hear something about Nevada, but that info is about as secret as Area51 it seems. I just wish we knew where we were with it instead of hearing nothing.

I'm ok with Nevada and am looking forward to edge.

As long as my abris map works ok its going to be good.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

Well, I love the current map, there are lots to do and see and gives countless mission types. Although I'm still looking forward to the Nevada map and from the photos I've seen so far still looks amazing, I think I would still prefer a region similar to the current map but with better graphics

Personally I look forward to Nevada terrain. Flying training missions in A-10 in Georgia has always seemed a bit awkward. ;)

lol you and me both. Bring on Nevada!! :)

Just out of interest - is there a way for modders in the community to make maps or are there tools that are required from ED first (eg. EDGE or whatever it is)?

EDGE creations tools are not currently available to the public.

From the first post:

Typical questions that do not have answers:

Will trees be collidable?

Are the creation tools going to be made available to the public?

What is the cost of Nevada if I did not pre-order DCS: A10C?

When will new screenshots be posted?

When will it be released?

Questions 1 and 3 are related, no collision model on trees, no real reason to pay. I'm tired of being hit by SAMs behind trees that can see and shoot you while you can't see them

(Mainly in the blackshark. Although it would make low level ops available with the hog too now that I think about it)

They said tree collision would be looked at and once its in the sim they would determine if its viable or too much of a performance hit, I am sure they would like it as much as you and me.

If FSX could do it 10 years ago, I'm sure there's a way- even sucky collision models where a whole forest is rendered as 1 piece would be better than this silly X-planish arcade model. I love the sim, don't get me wrong. But how can they model every switch in the cockpit, but you can fly through trees as if they weren't even there. Even war thunder can do it
