not exactly, that's a kind of reflection map (on/beside the chrome material)

see this screenshot: the reflection map (image) is the same on the fuselage - grass, tress etc. while the aircraft is at high altitude

I noticed several references to DCS World 2 while visiting ED's Facebook page.

These were specifically mentioned in the new map DCS: STRAIT OF HORMUZ section.

 

What does DCS World 2 mean? Does that mean an actual sequel or does it mean DCS World 2.XXXXXXX? Are our modules about to be outdated?

 

Can someone please Clarify?

 

2.0 with EDGE; same game, new engine.

Actually, yes. How else would you take "we plan to release DCS World 2 later this year." ?

 

I think there are two different release dates being discussed at the same time here:

 

1. DCS World 2.0, which is estimated "later this year"

 

2. Straight of Hormuz map, which is estimated "winter of 2014" (i.e. probably a little later).

 

Makes sense to me to release the game engine first, then later release this new map for it. :)

Remember it was said that the Strait of Hormuz was the first combat map. Nevada is a training map, so it’s possible we still get it this year and possibly before the Strait of Hormuz map.

as far as i understand the NTTR map has already been finished, its only waiting for EDGE

 

so hopefully EDGE and Nevada Map will be released in the same time

DCSW2.0, Then Shortly after NTTR, If I remember the post correctly.

 

NTTR was stated to be Pretty much done, and it simply waiting for EDGE to be integrated completely.

DCS World 2 is effectively just a new patch/update. It's the fact that it delivers the new EDGE graphics engine that's made ED denote it 2.0 as opposed to 1.3 (which is what it was originally slated to be called).

 

Your modules are not about to become outdated.

What is the latest on the launch of DCS world 2.0? Are things still on track to get this baby before the end of 2014?
