  1. 1. What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?

    • I'm so happy thanks ED ! :))
    • I like, but it could be another WW2 plane. :)
    • I dont like P-51D, I want another WW2 plane. :|
    • I want WW2 scenery, not just a WW2 plane!
    • I want Flying Legends series to have only JETs. There is no place WW2 planes at JET's playground! :/
    • I just want ED to make modern aircrafts/helicopters.. :(
    • I want carrier ops!
    • I want two seater cockpit!
    • If Flying Legends will have only ww2 planes, so it has to be independent from moderns..
    • Flying Legends must have helicopters.

Actually, at TFC we do fly our aircraft to air shows to continental Europe without GPS in the cockpit.

However, the pilots may have a pocket Garmin with them, but I'll have to ask them next week.

I do know their flight planning is extremely detailed with maps/charts all over the pilot's ready room!

Thanks for the info JimMack! And of course I will give it a go when the P-51 is out!

Here's a different theory; we may be best voting for what we don't want. Let me explain. Clearly the fine lads at ED aren't going to cater to the thousand or so responses to these polls as the thousand is only a fraction of the total # of sales therefore making it an insignificant sample pool size.

But rather us thousand who responded are actually probably the annoying ones who'd be most likely to complain and nitpick on the forums... If they're smart they'll ignore us:D

I mean this as light banter, good poll thanks for creating it.

Nail... meet head!

We have a winner!

Give that man a ceegar!

I love all aviation. I love the P51! Just that some of us have been waiting for DCS Jet since before BlackShark was released, so regardless if whether or not DCS Jet has been slowed down by the impending release of P51, it isn't what some of us were expecting, that's all.

I just wanted to point out, all the posting I have been doing is bit too negative.Overall I am excited for whatever ED brings out. I think us aviation fans are very, very luck to have a company like ED in existence that is putting out amazingly detailed work. Can't wait for the future and all of ED's releases.

Here's hoping that the pony project does not divert ED's talent and resources from what ED does best:

State-of-the-art modern air combat simulators! Bar none!

ED are exceptionally gifted in this field. Looking forward to the next modern aircraft in the DCS series. What ever it is, I will buy it.

Well, the CATM is a non-starter. As for the AIM, the A-10 will have to find the Mustang first. As usual, whoever sees the other first usually has the advantage. Just don't get into a turning fight with the Mustang: You cannot outturn it and you sure as hell cannot outrun it - it'll ruin your day with those 6 Ma Deuce's :D

what about flares on the P-51?

A packet of Tesco's finest cotton-balls, lighter fluid, small bucket, oven-proof gloves and a packet of safety matches.

Soak cotton-balls in lighter fluid. Crank canopy, grab cotton-ball, light and dispense if and when required.

Be sure to clear cockpit of used safety matches when done - crew chiefs will spazz out and throw a wobbly if FOD found littering the interior upon RTB.

No - I forgot to mention the necessity of a tube of Germolene for the burn in case the dispenser (read pilot) fumbles while dispensing :P

In all seriousness, flares will not save you from an AIM-9 launch if the pilot on the giving end knows what he is doing. Also, do not make the mistake of assuming that the sidewinder is the A-10's Finger-of-God when attempting to tangle with a Mustang, or any other airframe for that matter. It's not that easy :)

Why is DCS P-51 not a WWII environment?

I was really excited to see this was in the works and am liking A-10C. It would be great to see a WWII aircraft treated in this level of detail and quality.

But if it's not going to be in a WWII period environment and have period missions and opponents, like escorting bombers over Germany and fighting 109s and so on. Then please ED just forget the whole project.

It makes no sense whatsoever to have this plane in a modern world. It would be like putting the A-10C in WWI fighting Fokkers.

The world doesn't need another WWII flight sim failure like Cliffs of Dover.

So with all due respect for the effort so far, it's my opinion that if this can't be done right it's better it not be done at all.

Yeah, if it ain't plausible - screw it! A-10s flying combat missions in Georgia? Not gonna happen, so that won't sell either. Just forget it! He's right, you know.

Much rather nothing at all than something Incredibly Awesome where the backdrop ain't Just Right.

What's the next step in the lunacy? They'll find some weird aircraft most people have never heard of, with only a dozen or so operational, base a simulator on that and think people will actually buy it?

Hah! No way that would sell. They'll dig their own grave, and that of the entire sim industry! The only way they could make a worse business decision would be for that rare aircraft to be a helicopter, which we all know is a niche market.

I'm laughing my socks off at an insane thought I had here. Imagine trying to get thousands of people to have a great time flying American combat aircraft and rare Russian helicopters online in a simulated Georgian scenario - even cooperatively! To attempt that would be a spectacular failure indeed! Good to know that I have smarts which ED don't have, making me able to warn them about what going down that route would mean...

MTFD,

seriously? Only as much as it deserved... :D

O gee... another one of these threads... Seriously?

+1 its very versy very sad...

Now whom are we to say that just maybe...that DCS is gonna add another division of period aircraft..I wish members would stop jumping the gun .. on something we have no clue of what DCS's intensions are..in either case I am very happy with the introduction of the P-51D...this type of plane you have to fly and use strategy into your dogfight's..like in the movie when " Tom Cruise " was told by " Tom Skerritt(Viper) " "your good but we will make you better, in the art of Dogfighting..." this plane will take you back to the basic's...of dogfighting....

If you think ED/DCS has no idea of what they are doing ...why not create you own Developement Corp..and develope aircraft you think will sell...or you just like to rank alot of nothing...

Haha, I give up... the field of surgical humourectomy has clearly advanced way beyond what I could ever possibly have imagined.

Have a nice day, Bearitall. I guess we will just have to agree on disagreeing to be agreeing, even though we agree. :D

(Now I made my own head spin.... whooo....)
