Ka-50 broke that rule ;)

Regards!

Really? They only made 2 prototypes of RAH-66.

The Ka-50 on the other hand was produced and put into service. It has seen battle in Chechenya, maybe even in Georgia, who knows?

is there even enough data to accurately represent the RAH-66 and it's systems?

Comanche has been mentioned many times already. Would love to see it for sure. Its my favorite helicopter as well. I would buy it multiple times to help get it produced. Or pledge $100 to a kickstarter project to get it going.

Not sure what the difficulty is on making an AI backseat or front seat. They (AI) lock a target and ask for permission to fire. Click a button to approve fire request. Or the permission is given at the attack point to "fire at will".

Are you serious ? i mean i KNOW they stopped making it, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt even consider making it here ? arma 3 even has it / will have it.

The RAH66 ? the one and only ? Comanche ? the planned predecessor of the Apache but turned out to be too expensive?

They "stopped" making it? They never started! Only two flyable copies ever existed. The military never had any at all.

As for the Apache.... well I know that you meant "successor" not "predecessor" ...but still, it was not meant to replace the Apache except in certain units. The "heavy" attack helicopter units would still have Apaches. The Comanche was meant to replace the OH-58s and AH-1s primarily in the light armed reconnaissance role.

But anyway, while it would be interesting for sure, there is certainly not enough information available to realistically simulate it to the DCS level. There are plenty of production aircraft out there, both helicopters and fixed wing, that will see the light of day long before the Comanche.

I chose the AH-64A, of course, since it is the most modern Western attack helicopter that can be fully simulated to DCS standards. I'm biased, naturally, and this is just my opinion.

...arma 3 even has it / will have it...

Let me stop you right there.

Arma 3 = Infantry focused simulator that doesn't even have a realistic flight model.

DCS = High-fidelity flight sim that squeezes as much as it can to make a game realistic.

Now now, it's not like I hate ArmA, I play it myself.

Arma 3 will incorporate TAKE ON Helicopter tech for the Flight Model. More accurate than DCS at present. O.o

No it won't... they've axed that feature some time ago, and also effectively stated that their engine can't handle it as the fps hit would be on the order of 10 or more fps worse. For an engine that already craps out fps in a wide range of situations, it doesn't sound too likely in the near future, if ever... unless they *finally* get around to addressing the obsolete foundation upon which the game is built.

This may, or may not be true. The National Guard still flies A model Apaches, and who knows what is actually classified and not classified about this aircraft. Could be why ED said they were going to do it a long time ago, and it hasn't moved forward.

Yes, I agree with garengarch, the Westland Lynx - the cool army version with the skids and not that god awful navy version with wheels. Great combat chopper and iirc holds the world speed record (or did) for a heli.

I can't think of any NG units still flying the A-model, although it wouldn't surprise me if there are still a couple. ED had planned to simulate the -49A software. The only thing on the aircraft that is classified are the same things that are still classified on the A-10C, and ED went ahead with that project. Wags actually invited me to be a tester in advance of their planned AH-64A module due to my AH-64A background. How convenient that now I get to test the Mi-8, for which I now have much more knowledge than I think I ever did on the AH-64A!

Wait, which engine are we talking about here? ;) Does Arma engine only work on 1 core or something? :music_whistling:

I would respectfully disagree with this, as someone else said, Arma 3 is designed as an infantry simulator only. Just imagine how powerful that game would be though if Arma had the DCS flight model in it? That would be the sim to end all sims....

Rotorlib is nowhere near DCS engine. We don't have vortex ring till this day in TOH. Arma 3 got dumbed down, people over BIS forums are furious about it. And it won't get rotorlib in the future at all according to recent change in Arma developement, and actual developers posts. I personally was really close to ask steam for refund after developers admited we were lied about getting advanced physics for helicopers in A3. I won't buy any other product from BIS ever. They'd rather release take on mars than fix toh issues. screw them.

Unless you're trolling, in which case, well done and I've got my eyes on you ;)

Sea Hawk (S60)

Are there any chances that the Sea Hawk (S60) of the US NAVY be coming in the future in DCS?
