Hmmm...isnt the already existing Bell UH-1H Model, which is AI driven at the moment, the same as the model which is about to become a Module?

I dont get it, because of the former announcement and the delay(s), it would be a nice move from ED to explain what the actual problem is..

Its not ED. It's Belsimtek. They are the 3rd party that is having issues at the moment.

Mmmm I must admit to being a little worried about this project. Was first mentioned that it was due for release in 2012, Then a mention of Legal issues, and now no real updates for 3 months.

Certainly in the past, legal issues and a lack of updates, normally mean only one thing. I am hoping I'm Wrong here, if there is one module I want to go ahead and which I'm desperate to fly, it's this one.

But lack on info, on the legal issues, current condition of model, and even screenshots is starting to put doubts into my head.

Apart from an icon and very very brief appearance in a video, and only one screenshot from an early build, we have had nothing whatsoever from Belsimtek. At least with the Mig 21 and Hawk, Tomcat etc, we have had screenshots and videos, and they are projects that are still months if not years away from their release dates.

So please Belsmitek can we have something official, a statement, screenshots or even a video. Something to let us know this project hasn't been shot down in flames.

I appreciate software gets delayed, and unforeseen circumstances do sometimes happen, but by not updating your followers then that is when doubt creeps in.

Wags' opinion about all the legal stuff:

RPS: Do you believe aircraft manufacturers have the moral right to demand license fees from sim developers?

Matt: If the U.S. Government has funded (tax payer money) the development of an aircraft, then in my opinion, the manufacturer has no moral rights.

If it was a case of protecting national security I could see it maybe, but this is about squeezing more for profit. And the taxpayer gets nothing out of this.

If I had to guess, the legal issues are between Belsimtek and ED, not Belsimtek and Bell Helicopters.

I still have no clue on why the developers are leaving us in the though.

TL;DR Shut up and take my money.

I don't think there's any more sense in me apologizing for the lack of updates and media. Certainly this isn't how I would have liked to handle the PR aspect of the project. However it is still moving forward and the legal issues are being resolved. As I had indicated earlier, we had already completed most of the development we planned for the open beta release some time ago, so there has not been much to provide updates about since December or so. The release delay has given us time to add a third party campaign, which is being voiced over now and will probably be completed next week. The manual has been polished up. We've also added a couple of forum members with direct Huey experience to the test team to help us make final adjustments of the model and make sure it is as accurate as possible. Of course there have been some tuning of the flight, damage, and systems models. Some adjustments have been made to the 3D model, in part based on feedback right here on the forum. For example we added the extra plates around the outside of the engine, removed the nose pitot tube, added the circuit breaker panel by the pilot's left leg. Still don't have the pilot's Reflex sight, but once again this was planned to be implemented after open beta release. Finally, we are well under way with the external stores model, which is now swinging around sporadically under the helicopter, but it's WIP.

I hope you can simply take our word that the legal issues are being resolved. We will not be making any more comments on the matter as it's simply unnecessary and inappropriate on the public forum. The project is not under threat, just delayed longer than we had anticipated.

Wow, ok EB, that was a quick reply. Thankyou, I do appreciate you coming on here with an update. I'm sure you can appreciate yourselves though, why a certain amount of doubt is starting to slip in. ( well for me anyway )

However please let all the team know, that we are only concerned because we are all so keen to get this module. Yes I will take your word that the legal issues are being resolved, that is very good news.

Can't wait to see the external stores model working.

:)

However may I ask, that even if you don't have any new info, could you please just pop in, now and again to let us know that everything is still on target.

You put down the last word EB and there is nothing left to say and we'll just have to wait. Like the others I appreciate the update and look forward to the purchase.

Hmm, don`t know what to think about. You once wrote that there would be some screenshots, website and so on when the legal issues were solved. So still we have nothing to look at. Sorry, but that really is bad PR. I only can hope that when the Huey is released you guys will do better communications. I really don`t want to offend anyone but for ME it`s a shame. Again I apologize for my words...I just can`t understand.

Unfortunately we can't release any media until certain papers are signed. Some PR to raise interest and appease curiosity is not worth a big lawsuit in the long run. Sooner or later, even if only after release, there will be plenty of screenshots and videos to go around. I do understand your frustration as a fan, having been in your position for many years before, but again, there are practical considerations that overrule our desire to release information.

The last thing you guys need is a big lawsuit to take away any paycheck. We need you guys to get some compensation for your work so you can keep the titles coming!

Thanks for the update EB.

I have fond memories of riding around in Hueys, being dopped off in the middle of nowhere armed to the teeth and fighting pretend enemies in the Australian bush.

Looking forward to this module.....Might have to save up for a new rig so i can get decent frame rates at low level with graphics turned up full.

Dont suppose ED has plans to implement infantry being able to enter and exit vehicles?

I really have to say Thank you EvilBivol and Wags. I honestly did not have expected to get some official updates when I was entering the Forums today morning. I also had the same concerns as some guys has spoken out here recently. Now waiting is no more a harm because I can say that the long awaited and favourite Helicopter will be available in a convenient timeframe and waiting is no more a pain in the ass. Really appreciating the fact that you are really reading even these parts of the Forums and hit right into the black when it is most needed...it couldn't have been better...Thanks to you both
