robert123456 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 So during a mission i landed to rearm and needed some repairs after some aaa fire. As i touched down the runway i found out that some of the fire damaged my right tyre so my plane wondered to the side of the runway and landed on the dirt, no crashing or further damage. So i requested repairs and got the repairs but my aircraft was still on the mud and couldnt continue the mission due to that. So is there any way around to continue the mission or restarting is the only option? how does this get managed in reality? i suppouse the aircraft gets trailered to the runway again. Thanks.
BladeLWS Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 If you get stuck in the mud then you're stuck in the mud, depending on the aircraft some are towed out or lifted out by crane.
BeachAV8R Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 We need a Combined Arms aircraft tug module..
badger66 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 It can be changed , Ed could change that . I remember from sim racing , an area such as this has a grab factor and can be adjusted . But that would take ED to do such a thing I guess ..... or a Sikorsky Skycrane module !!!
WildBillKelsoe Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 if you're just an inch from the runway, floor power, rudder right and left and shoot the GAU-8 to raise the nose. Refer to STOL video on youtube to know what I mean. However, if you're away like twofold the length of aircraft, its hopeless. You'll get out, but probably by like 3 hours of rudder play. Yurgon Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Quite interestingly, when I drifted into the grass behind the runway just yesterday (left engine out, wheel brakes not working), I was surprised that I could get the jet to move again even with just one engine. I had jettisoned all stores (as far as possible) before landing and was down to 2000lbs fuel, so might be just that the jet was fairly light. Or did ED finally change this behavior? I had just installed the update to 1.2.2.7570 prior to that. Anyway, I could turn 180°, get back on the runway, and - with the left engine restarted - take off again. I was quite surprised because getting the A-10 to roll (let alone turn) on the grass after a complete stop had never worked before.
PFunk1606688187 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 It seems random that sometimes you can get out, but sometimes you can't. I avoid it like the plague. Watching my Ka-50 friends accidentally land on grass and seeing the model freak out is funny though. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Supersheep Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 As long as you're still moving, you can get away from it when you go max power asap. Not always, but you can be lucky. Personally I have not managed to get a jet moving again in the sim after it came to a halt, then it's bogged down. Super- The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread

Skitter Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I thought you can drive the aircraft over the grass as long as you have a certain (lo) weight ?
Eight Ball Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 A towing or crane option might be cool... Yes or even just a "teleport to ramp" option would do the trick. Personally I have not managed to get a jet moving again in the sim after it came to a halt, then it's bogged down. FC3 jets don't suffer that problem. I guess it helps to be able to go full AB :P Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
robert123456 Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 On the random aspect could it be that the ground has different surface rigidity according to wet dry, etc? I dont know if that is modeled. Yes for me it wouldnt need much, just after the repair animation you wait x sec and your aircraft gets moved to the parking area, its just frustrating that after dodging 4 missiles and making a succesfull landing with your jet full of holes you are beaten by some mud  I wont argue that little people repairing the plane and a crane in the future would be great :D Ill try to play more with my rudder to see if i can get some movement next time.
Tucano_uy Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 It certainly would be good if the acft was repositioned over tarmac after repairs. Please ED!!!
Sierra99 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 If I'm coming back shot up... Which is most of the time... I use F2 or a wingman to look me over before I land to verify what parts I'm missing... And more importantly what parts I have. If I'm missing a tire (tyre for some of ya) or two... I set it down on its belly. I usuuuuuually stay on the paved surface and upright...(usually) After I stop and before asking for repair, I hit the gear handle so once I am repaired... I have doughnuts under me. Hope that helps. Eight Ball Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Well yeah, ok Blaze but sometimes you're taxiing at 10 knots and your cigarette is messing up with TrackIR or your cat decides it's the right time to sit on your keyboard or your girlfriend whines because you haven't done the dishes and BAM! you end up in the weeds. And here you go restarting the game, redoing the startup sequence, resetting your weapons profile, etc... Since we have magical refueling/rearming/repairing I don't think it's really too much to ask to have a magical crane also :) Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
mvsgas Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Jet's don't like grass. R3FvXyQeaJI LOL what do you mean? Evil.Bonsai Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Jet's don't like grass. R3FvXyQeaJI Per the report, faulty environmental controls led to a fogged canopy. Pilot couldn't see outside. Cool video.
