JesseJames38 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 In preping for the release of the UH-1 helicopter i decided to look around and see if i can find me a good manual on it. I did stumble acrost this manual from google books. 190 some pages long. lots of technical information from cargo limits to operation limits. http://books.google.com/books?id=hHg-AAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false this may help Jesse.
Griffin Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 That's older version of what's available. We have a documentation thread here but the link to the original seems dead again. I uploaded the 1988 manual to my drive though. Here's the link: TM 55-1520-210-10
Kusch Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 This is better, recommended: http://www.amazon.com/Chickenhawk-Robert-Mason/dp/0143035711 Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
JesseJames38 Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Thanks for the updated link. as for the chickenhawk book its not quite what i had in mine when starting this post. I started it to help get technical information on the helicopter on how it works, starts up. flys and operating limits. Jesse
Griffin Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Many stories from Navy Seawolves in Vietnam. This particular story has 15 parts so there's enough text for a book! I've read the Chickenhawk (very recommended) and Low Level Hell and this is at least comparable. Very entertaining. If you are not patient, you can start directly from this action packed part: http://www.seawolf.org/stories/scrmbl05.asp Thanks to Sundowner for these!
Griffin Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 A book about Seawolves in the Mekong delta. If this is anything like the stories in the above link, I'm buying this! That stuff was just as good as Chickenhawk. http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Sky-Seawolf-Gunships-Mekong/dp/1591144477 Chickenhawk. A must read for every Huey pilot (and definately every other helicopter pilot)! http://www.amazon.com/Chickenhawk-Robert-Mason/dp/0143035711/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354971946&sr=1-1&keywords=chickenhawk
todd022 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Low Level Hell! My favorite book of all time! That's why I vote for a OH-6/MD-500 module (realistically, an OH-58 to be relevant on the modern battlefield). Many stories from Navy Seawolves in Vietnam. This particular story has 15 parts so there's enough text for a book! I've read the Chickenhawk (very recommended) and Low Level Hell and this is at least comparable. Very entertaining. Already read all other books mentioned here and I´m curious how this will be. Found this one on Amazon as well (Amazon UK). 4 pounds + about 4 pounds shipping for good quality used book. When I read about it here I immediately bought it (because I really enjoyed Chickenhawk as well). Now waiting for it to arrive :)
