NTTR---Planned after 2.0 sometime after Oct/Nov. 2014

Normandy--sometime after May 2015.

Undisclosed one----sometime after May 2015.

The way the newsletter read, the undisclosed map has bumped ahead of Normandy....

Shagrat, why does "fictional" sounds weird? I just wanted, even knowing its kind of impossible, to fly planes of Brazilian FAB. I mentioned bolivarian countries because they are ideological countries and more alike to cause conflicts IMO. I dont wish such a thing in real life. =D

Sorry, wasn't implying to start any conflict in that area. I'm just dying for a map to simulate a real conflict from younger history.

I know it is a common wish to fly over one's homeland and familiar terrain, but especially with the A-10 I never understood why we had no Iraq or Afghanistan map.

I think we are all in for a great ride over the next few years. We all just need to remember to be patient and realize that ED must crawl before the walk with some of the new things they are working on.

i didn't vote - i'm sure whatever ED chooses to model, it will be top notch

 

my preferences regarding theaters..

 

"size matters" -- i def want to have square mileage required to conduct realistic scenarios - that means you have room for airbases far from the front lines, transiting requiring in-flight refueling, HVUs a hundred or so miles from threats - with room to scram as required, and then enough territory to provide somewhat of a challenge to defend

 

also, would be great if there was some terrain to speak of so as to encourage/allow NOE/low-alt tactics ---- iraq was troublesome and necessitated med-/hi-alt tactics because it was.. desert - no terrain with which to mask against the radar threat

 

probably goes without saying, but i think in the interest of supporting inclusion of DCS carrier-based a/c a coastal/littoral region would be preferable

We already have desert terrain with upcoming mods.

 

Vietnam for me is the perfect choice. Especially considering mig-21 is coming along with Ah-1, A-4 and the huey we already have.

 

I'd pay serious money for a Nam map.

I dont know for how long I been waiting for a "real/realistic" Vietnam air war sim. Specially now when we have the Huey and soon the Mig-21. And what I have seen there is still some planes from that era in the planning.

 

What can be more fun than flying the Huey into a LZ in a jungle alley and listen to CCR - Fortunate Son while F4's dropping napalm in the treeline?

 

And then maybe sometime in the future, even carrier missions can be available? That would be heaven! Its the perfect scenario! :)

 

Janes USAF with its Vietnam part feels a little bit outdated i guess... :D

 

Agree completely. It's really a terrain that no companies have seemed to take advantage of making.

 

Carrier ops would also work very well in a Vietnam Map. Granted with older aircraft like the F-4 and A-4.

 

The challenges in a Vietnam map would be endless really.

I think the MIG-21bis modelled by Leatherneck is a lot different from the MiG-21PF operated by North Vietnam. It would need a bit of work to get a proper flyable MIG-21 included in a Vietnam scenario.

Yeah thats what i'm hoping for to be honest...... an entire Middle-east Theater surrounded by all the hot spots especially after the F-18E and Carrier Ops release + a F-16C. :smilewink::thumbup:

 

With a few missions and campaigns and live fire training ranges + military exercises.

Lets face it everything is based around Israeli Middle-east Wars so many Historical and Theoretical battles just heaps of fun for all involved.

Very Nice!. My wish was granted. This will be my Christmas present. :pilotfly: I can finally hit the shop for the rest of the aircrafts, knowing that at last we are venturing beyond the Dead Sea.

If the map is near 400 km wide, that means we can fly from one end to the other in... half an hour or less on full AB? Hopefully the map will keep growing. Or future theaters are made bigger to allow for at least a couple of hours flight.
