Tango Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Which version of DCS do you run (32-bit or 64-bit)? If you run both, please select 32-bit. ED Team c0ff Posted March 21, 2013 ED Team Posted March 21, 2013 If you run both, please select 32-bit. What's the point? To delay the inevitable? Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
Tango Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 I have asked the Mods to watch this thread and clean out irrelevant posts. @c0ff: not at all. Call it "market research". Best regards, Tango.
ED Team c0ff Posted March 21, 2013 ED Team Posted March 21, 2013 @c0ff: not at all. Call it "market research". Actually, it's quite hard to run both 32 and 64 bit DCS, because the binaries are selected by the installer depending on the underlying OS. Dmitry S. Tango Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Right, but several members of the dev team, and maybe users too, have both 64-bit systems and 32-bit systems, and maybe run the 32-bit version on a laptop when away from home for example. PM sent. Best regards, Tango.
cichlidfan Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Please note that your answer will directly affect the direction of current and future 3rd party product development for DCS:World. If DCS World is going to be 64bit only, then of what use is a 32bit module? Moving to 64-bit Operating Systems Only As we move forward improving the DCS World environment, we are more and more often running into roadblocks that prevent us from doing so due to supporting 32 bit operating systems. This includes larger and more populated worlds with greater terrain mesh details and textures. By moving to 64 bit support only, we will be able solve this and allow larger missions with more units, and it will allow us to improve visual effects. This change will be coming in the next few months. PeterP Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) I run also a 32bit copy - so I'm able to examine bugs that some users 32bit users are reporting. But I voted for 64bit. EDIT: Which version of DCS do you run (32-bit or 64-bit)? If you run both, please select 32-bit. Please note that your answer will directly affect the direction of current and future 3rd party product development for DCS:World. ...I hope that the next time a developer starts such a important poll like this he thinks about the possibility to add a third voting option ... I think something like this "I run both , 32 and 64 bit" , would help vastly to make the right decisions. Edited March 21, 2013 by PeterP

spn Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Actually, it's quite hard to run both 32 and 64 bit DCS, because the binaries are selected by the installer depending on the underlying OS. My PC is 64 bit hardware. I installed 2 harddrives. One harddrive is running Windows XP 32 bit OS and the second harddrive is running Windows 7 64 bit OS. I a PC is setup in this fashion, it is very easy. You just select which OS you want to run during startup.
