Cali Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 A-10C sounds don't sound very realistic to me. With earplugs and a helmet engine noise and releasing munitions would not be that loud. I have read that, according to real pilots, launching a missile is nearly silent from their perspective. And being able to hear a tank explode while you are 6,000 feet in the air and 1 mile away WITH said earplugs and helmet is just ridiculous. I do like the realistic sound delay though. The F/A-18 sounds really exciting. I hope it is a Legacy Hornet and comes with the option of Swiss markings :) That's why I edit my sounds to sound more realistic. I can't hear the AB or maybe a faint sound of it, same goes for my air break. Hearing a tank explode while in a aircraft is just ridiculous. They add these sounds because we can't feel when we open the air break or the AB kicks in. Why we hear an exploding tank is beyond me. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

RhineHornet Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) I seem to remember a video on youtube showing the ED F-18C model wingflex animation. Anyone know if that's still available anywhere? It wasn't an official video of course... Maybe you've seen the video from Seven-G, with that excellent wingflex effects and fantastic flightmodel? http://youtu.be/xywrekEIJIg?t=2m15s ...can't wait for its release :D For ED's C-Hornet neither... Demongornot Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Its not an official page, the DCS A10C facebook page is my old one before i leave facebook and give the lead to someone else, and the new admin do a really nice work, but its not an official page. If you want something that can really give us information on the Hornet look at what Wags use for avatar : http://forums.eagle.ru/member.php?u=3338 :D @RhineHornet Yes Seven G its really nice and the dev are not afraid by making REALISTIC effect, and at least the smoke in Seven G are pretty beautiful, look realistic and don't do any FPS drop and working mirrors don't kill your FPS, and except the terrain texture and the fact that a single aircraft is available Seven G are way more better to my eyes than DCS and its not yet finish... Look the missile and his smoke at 3 minutes of your video ! beautiful ! 206 Burner VR Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I agree. I dont think so EDs hornet will be better than SevenG model. Wing flex , physics , ejecting are awesome ! [sIGPIC]http://vlep.pl/u14oct.jpg[/sIGPIC] PILOT: " B U R N E R "
GeorgeLKMT Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Seven-G Hornet looks nice but I don't think it's comparable to DCS. It's not all about airplane. Even if 7G made 99.99999999% accurate simulation and ED only 80%, I would still pick ED's one over 7G anytime. DCS is strong platform that grows more and more with every update and only mission editor itself with dozens of pieces of machinery makes it practically unrivalled. But all we know about 7G is that it has beatiful vapor and wingflex... so I guess it's too soon to make conclusions ;) ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
Phantom88 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 As a Hornet Nut:DNo Doubt,I'll be buying both 7G and DCS:thumbup: Patrick
dikkeduif Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 That's a superhornet not the one ED's working on! Still really cool. (there's no superhornet AI right now either) Don't want to ruin your day guys, but these are 4 screenshots I took yesterday when flying fsx in the vrs superbug. I posted those screenshots in the huey forum in a topic called what are you doing to kill time for UH-1H huey and patch 1.2.4 release :)
Nealius Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 If that Hornet shot was from FSX I want to know a) what kind of rig he's running, b) what kind of terrain mods he has, and c) what kind of atmosphere mods he has. The horizon on my FSX looks nothing like that.
Blaze Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I agree. I dont think so EDs hornet will be better than SevenG model. Wing flex , physics , ejecting are awesome ! howie87 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I agree that seven G looks great, but lack of multiplayer is a deal breaker and I doubt it will include the same quality and variety of ground and air units that make DCS such an outstanding simulator. Personally I can't wait to jump into DCS F/A-18 and fly some wild weasel or deep strikes while DCS F-15's prowl the skies above and the A-10's take care of CAS. Throw in a dynamic campaign and I'd never leave the house.
SkateZilla Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 How can you tell it's super hornet and more importantly who took the screenshot? The LEX is larger on the Super Bug, the Legacy LEX is smaller than that. SkateZilla Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 <shrug>, i think so. I have more models than i care to admit or keep track of 90% of them were built by other people and I was just helping with animations/textures/integration into <insert sim name>. EchoMasterMind Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Would the F/A-18C have the ability to buddy lace a target for an A-10C? Don't know why it would be that useful, but I'm just curious :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Stealth_Eagle Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 My only problems with the F-18 series is the short range and poor acceleration so I don't think I will get this module unless someone convinces me otherwise.
Eddie Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Short range? The Hornet has the same combat radius as the Viper and the Hog. Poor acceleration, well compared to some yes, but it's still a supersonic fighter. It's the only western multi role jet were likely to see for a while. Avionics wise, it's a step above the Viper in many areas.
Pilotasso Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Actually they trade off blows depending what variants and what flight regimes you are talking about for both avionics and performance capabilities. It used to be one sided in the old days when we had only F-18C and F-16 Block 40 and below. today its not so linear because you have a bazillion variants tailored many many different costumers and requirements. .
