Good stuff from Matt. Thanks for the update!!

17 May 2013 Update

This week we released a new update to DCS, version 1.2.4.12179.160. This added a number of changes and fixes that can be found here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...51&postcount=4

The team is already at work on a third and final update to version 1.2.4 that will address some additional pressing issues (increase stability, anti-radiation missile accuracy, A-10C RWR, and others) before moving on to version 1.2.5.

We are also working on improving mission and campaign selection screens within the GUI for single missions, training missions and campaigns. See attached.

On the new product front, a lot of effort is now being devoted to the advanced flight models for the F-15C and the Su-27. In parallel, BST is working to finalize the UH-1H and they are already working on their Mi-8.

As for our F/A-18C Hornet, the new external model can already be seen in DCS World and work on the cockpit has been ongoing for quite a awhile. Once the last of the FC3 avionics bugs have been squashed, much of our avionics programming staff will move on to the Hornet.

Matt

Nice to have the weekly updates and really looking forward to the F-15C and the Su-27 as separate modules as I don't own FC3.

It's nice also to confirm that they are actually working on a Hornet, even if it takes to this time next year or later, just knowing it will eventually come is good to know.

Cheers,

Mick. :)

Im really interested to see how the DCS f18 is going to fit in with the current product line in multiplayer missions. In particular how the radar and avionics(assuming DCS means the same level of fidelity as the A-10C) will fit the the overly simplified radars of FC3. Will this aircraft have a distinct advantage over FC3 aircraft in multiplayer (and quite possibly a distinct disadvantage in certain ways, ie ease of operation in an FC3 plane versus the F-18 for instance). Will we see the formation of DCS aircraft only servers vs FC3 servers?

I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!

  • ED Team
frankly, i would have preferred their human resource and effort to be spent on the new terrain engine currently, then on other new freaking aircraft..

seriously.. inv.gif

We dont know how they are staffed, BUT he did reference the avionics programming staff, now I am not a rocket scientist, but sounds like the avionics guys probably wouldnt spend much time coding the rendering engine... knowwhatImean?

once again.... the quote by GG in my signature would apply to this

It's not because someone code plane's FM that the same person would be able to develop the EDGE engine....

Having manpower doing skins/3d model/avionics/etc is irrelevent to EDGE development time.

It's not because someone is able to paint a car that he knows how to build the motor.

We be cool if people understand this once and for all :(

I like the mission selection screens. No more searching back and forth through directories. Big improvement!

The F/A-18C IS the next DCS Module... the 15 and 27 is an updated FC stand alone module......

Thanks for the weekly..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

We all have our preferences and opinions, and yours is as valid as anyone else's. However, I don't know what DCS module, if any, is your favoroite. For a Modern jet fan though the number of DCS modern jets = 0.

...so, where is the update? I'm running DCS right now and it says nothing about a new update. The latest thing in my news pop-up is the May 8 update.

The Friday update is more of a News update.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Then why did it say, "This week we released a new update to DCS, version 1.2.4.12179.160."

Released. Past tense.

Because they released a new update to DCS, version 1.2.4.12179.160. That's different to the Friday update.

Your auto-updater should have updated you automatically. If not, use the manual updater in the DCS World folder in your Windows Start Menu.
