I have no clue how that would even work??

Since ED never promoted that we would get free keys for Steam use it is only fair. However, it'd be great if they allowed users to pay the "valve fee" and get the steam activation keys, without having to buy the module over again.

Hey, What about the huey will that ever come to steam and all the other 3rd party updates.

And if they don't come to steam how would it work If I buy it from another site and use steam or buy the huey from this site and use the steam version of dcs world?

I find this opening threads for the update before the update has been released pretty annoying and pathetic. All it means is anyone wanting to read opinions or debate over the update have to troll through posts and childish BS.

I'd like the moderators to delete them in future.

And yes i'm feeling particularity grumpy today. :music_whistling:

I had to troll through your post as well, wanting to read opinions on the update. Please allow some pre-update anticipation excitement. It's a hot Friday evening ... grab a cool beer and relax.

I dont know on the Huey coming to Steam, but if you buy the Huey now you need to use the web release of DCS World as far as I know. I dont know that you will be to import it into the Steam version, but I doubt it.

You've got it pretty much right there - it is possible for a publisher to do this, but it would not be free nor automatic; essentially they end up paying whatever license fee Valve charges for each key and then shuttle these out to the customers.

When this is already factored in (like when they say on kickstarters and similar that "you'll get a Steam key if we manage to get the game on steam") they'll already have factored this into their calculation.

While we don't know the details of the deal, it should be possible to get all users steam keys for free. That being said, we don't know whether the problem could be ED's own DRM system.

http://www.steampowered.com/steamworks/retailsupport.php

I also read somewhere that devs are totally free to generate as many steam keys as they want - completely free. Sadly can't find a source right now so take it with a grain of salt.

Added Su-25 manual

Anyone know where it is? The Su-25A/Doc folder only contains the FC3 manual which was not modified with this update.

Anybody noticed the graphical quality of these weapons? They look very...real. Created with new image generator/EDGE?

MAC

More than likely these are renders made from the program they are using to build the models, not a render of what it looks like exactly in DCS/Edge.

*Edit: I see SithSpawn beat me to it, lol.

Maybe it's just the cross-age of this forums, but sometimes when I read comments like in this thread, I hear that old grumpy bastard voice saying:

Ah that can be a tad annoying I believe for some. I mean I really wont be buying 3rd party aircraft just dcs models. But it can be a hassle for people who just want to use steam

It seems you are terribly confused. DCS modules INCLUDE 3rd party modules ( UH-1H, MIG 23 ) . I believe you are referring to ED's modules as the ones you would buy.:)

I would think not because that would impale hot fixes .I would think they could post the dl link on their site. Would be great to have some official information on this if possible :)

OK, So Recap/Confirm what i need to do this weekend.

Download DCSW On Steam,

1a. Locate Folders for Modules and Stuff, Test 3rd Party DRM Free Modules (Our F-100D, and anything else I have imported)

1b. Test ED Modules Purchased from Web, with DCSW Controlled by Steam

(Test for Functionality: Make sure modules load correctly, Make sure they are activated correctly and usable in their alternate folder, SP and MP.)

Well I mean will be be getting the DCS UH-1 Huey on steam with everything else including the l-39 and hawk from 3rd party

is the L-39 and HAWK going to be DCSW Integrated, or 3rd Party Download Package?

It all depends on how much steam messes with folder structure.

I would think it would be through the auto-updater, with a way to switch between the release and beta versions. Or, you could have 2 installs, one for the beta and one for release. That'd be the best option IMO. :)

or a "Opt In" Option to check off, so the updater knows when to ask if you want to update to the beta version,

if "Opt In" option is not checked, it will ignore beta versions..

It's pretty easy to have more than one install of DCS world as it turns out. One could be public build, and another beta build. Once we get closer to 1.2.6 I'm sure many of us testers would be more than happy to provide examples on how to do this. :)

We do not believe it is possible to move DCS products purchased outside of Steam into Steam.

Using my DCS products on Steam would be awesome.

We all have serial numbers for our DCS products here, so activating them on Steam shouldn't be a problem.

Recently I have been able to switch several "prior non-steam" products:

- Euro Truck Simulator 2

- Kerbal Space program

- Project CARS

The only thing needed is to share your products keys database with Steam and any existing customers wishing to switch to Steam would be able to do so.

You should ask Valve for details and options on this matters.

Best regards.
