I was living under the impression that every module will be integrated, because otherwise it would break the idea of DCS world.

Somewhere was stated, that only the modules from ED partners (like BST) will be integrated and kept autoupdated. All 3rd party modules won't have this support, keeping the modules up-to-date will be 3rd party devs' job made by new versions or updates distributed separately by their private chanels.

I am sure as we get closer they will clear this all up, I am sure c0ff or someone has some sort of sinister plan already....

or a "Opt In" Option to check off, so the updater knows when to ask if you want to update to the beta version,

if "Opt In" option is not checked, it will ignore beta versions..

The A-10A and Su-25 manuals are not included in the update.

Do you have those modules installed?

I have the Su-25A module and can confirm the manual is not there.

Page 6:

Anyone know where it is? The Su-25A/Doc folder only contains the FC3 manual which was not modified with this update.

Yes it's possible. As testers we usually have many installs at a time. It's pretty easy as stated earlier, and once the open beta begins instructions would surely follow.

Can the beta be made to install alongside the regular install?

I should think those manuals will be included with FC3 as well.

I would guess those are renders from whatever 3D Program they are using and not in game shots.

I agree...I think those are some good renders. But based on the latest IG/nevada screens Wags showed a few weeks ago, the lighting model needs some major updating. The new IL-2 game looks terrific and hope ED can find a way to incorporate that kind of lighting into DCS.

I'm not too worried, they know what makes a good flight sim... I dont expect they will put something that looks like this...

There wouldn't be any need to mention it in the friday update if there was no new manual. For the separate modules the FC3 manual was already included before the patch (at least with the Su-25) and it wasn't modified.

I don't have a Su-25A manual, neither in the start menu nor in the DCS folder.

That was a WIP render.

DCS Open Beta Testing

As DCS World ever increases in complexity and scope, along with a continued expansion of new modules, the testing task has reached the point where we cannot expect our internal and external test teams to catch all the problems in a reasonable amount of time. As such, starting with DCS 1.2.6 we will first be releasing new DCS versions as open beta. Our team and the external testers will be closely monitoring reports and entering valid bugs into our bug tracking database. We will ask reports only be submitted for new problems that did not exist in the prior version. We sincerely hope this will improve the quality of the final version.

How are NON ED Beta testers going to assure the bug they found is in fact new?

Work in Progress?

Solved and re-appeared?

If by means of just this forums, that's going to be pretty much impossible.

Specially because most regular bug reports are made without mention of version number.

So, any plans already on how this will be organized. Or still in the making?

IMHO, I would add a new section on here 'DCS Beta Bugs'.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

does this mean that starting 1.2.6. we are all now beta testers?

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

If you choose so. Nobody will force you to go with beta versions.

We are discussing this, on the best way to keep track, and avoid redundant reports.

We already have a forum for reporting bugs, we dont need more, we just need to utilize what we have better.

Seriously. Right now people report bugs only to be told ED knows about it already.

Without a published list there is no reference except hundreds of threads.

This.

Obviously the system has to change to this new method of testing, but we will adapt and make it work. Better handling of reported bugs in the forums is key, but not the only thing to address.
