Gooseneck Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Wow! I agree!!! Just 'Wow'!! I know I'll never even fly that new Helo. I don't fly the Black Shark or play Combined Arms much either (I got them in the last sale), being a P-51/A-10/Huey kinda guy, but wow!! at $20 I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself. :joystick:
Psyrixx Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 This is horrible. I really should have spent those money in cinema to see some 2hr movie with a medium popcorn and coke instead of buying this horrible product that gives me thousands hours of entertainment. I'll buy some game with 5hr campaing next time. Thanks Obama! LOL :megalol: Robert Sogomonian | Psyrixx website| e-mail | blog | youtube | twitter
MauganRa84 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Brutal. After seeing everyone complaining about the huey insta-sale I shoulda waited for the Hip insta-sale instead of paying full price up front. Lesson learned now. Gonna be '2-weeks-after-release-60%-sale' for me from now on thank you very much. ...Sheila rides on crashing nightingale. Intake eyes leave passing vapor trails... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

NRG-Vampire Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I'm a prime client and I'm not mad or even slightly upset. $50 every 6 months to a year for a new aircraft is not a big deal to me. And if people who can't afford $50 can pick it up shortly thereafter for a price they can afford then that's awesome! The more people flying around the better. IN FACT a friend of mine and I were laughing when we bought the module full price because we figured it would be on sale the very next week. Instead it took two weeks. We still don't care. :P you are an   otherwise to BST :) TOMORROW
speckfire Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Why call me that? I am just speaking out on my own accord because I feel anger is directed at someone (team) when they haven't actually done anything wrong. So let me get this straight. A product goes on the market at full price and 2 weeks later it's 60% off and you see nothing wrong with it? What does this have to do with you or your team? 1 Speed is life !!!
Fishbreath Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I'm down-repping anyone who starts a sale-whining thread today Because if you do, you deserve it. I'm not going to beat around the bush; we've been over this during every sale I've been at these forums for. Let's look at a few of your (referring only to the people complaining) arguments: 1) It's bad business sense! Evidently not, because Eagle Dynamics keeps on running them, and Belsimtek is in with a second recently-released beta module after already doing it once. The upshot is clear: the sales are great for business in spite of the sky-is-falling forum whiners. It's not even an unexpected result from a microeconomics standpoint. There exists a class of people for whom a utility helicopter does not represent $50 of fun (I count myself among them), but who do consider a utility helicopter at least $20 of fun (me again). By dropping the price, the developers pull in a bunch of people at $20 who wouldn't have ever paid the undiscounted price. 1a) The Mi-8 was just released two weeks ago! Why is it on sale already? You're cheapening your product! Apparently, it worked well enough for the Huey that BST decided they should do it again. "You're cheapening your product" is another terrible argument, one I only really see in the flight simming and wargaming communities. A game's worth doesn't come from its price, it comes from how good a product it is. People view the goodness of a product differently, and from there they decide what value to attach to it. The goal of any developer should be to make a game appealing, and to price it so that the product of price and people who will buy at that price comes to the largest number. 2) I paid full price a week ago, and now I'm angry that it's on sale! This doesn't make you special, except insofar as it makes you irrational. Consider: I go to see a movie on release night and pay $15 for a ticket. That doesn't mean I'm going to rage at people who go see a Sunday matinee next month: the utility of seeing the movie as soon as I could was, to me, worth paying twice the ticket price. In the same sense, I paid full price for Black Shark 2, because having it immediately was more important to me than the money I would save by waiting for a discount. If you paid full price and are angry when it goes on sale, that's on you: you didn't think hard enough about your preferences and what they're worth to you, and you paid more for a module than the value you actually assigned to it, even knowing as you probably did that there would be another sale soon. Your impatience is not ED's fault. 2 Black Shark, Harrier, and Hornet pilot Many Words - Serial Fiction | Ka-50 Employment Guide | Ka-50 Avionics Cheat Sheet | Multiplayer Shooting Range Mission
TurboHog Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Ok, how do you attract more customers? Clearly you need to provide something more or cheaper... either way those that bought initially will "lose" somehow... but this is what all early adapters (and purchasers) have to live with. The video card I bought when it just came out cost me $730.. not I can get it under $400... and it's not the first time I've done this... I am well aware you buy something straight when its out you pay the premium... but if it doesn't sell well (which doesn't have to be because of poor quality) then you have to find a way to sell more... right... which brings us to initial question... how do you do attract more customers? So why be so angry about it? I just don't get it... should just learn from it and next time(s) when something is out... wait till its cheaper... but even then there is no way of knowing if little later again it might be even more cheaper... right? Have you bought a video card during the beta development phase? Sales are for non-beta products. Period. I keep being baffled by how many genius mathematicians we have on this forum, all being able to judge where BST are in the laffer curve by shooting from the hip. Astounding. Ah, finally! The 'so you think that you know everything better' argument. Right after whining accusations the most popular countermeasure against critics on this forum. The word play deserves my 'like' though! 1 'Frett'

SkateZilla Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Just remember it is not ED.. but Belsimtek. I'm very sure ED can't force Belsimtek to take part in such sales. ED have never done this on any of their products. I wouldnt comment on such matters, as terms of the ED Partners Agreement between ED/TFC and BelSimTek are private. speckfire Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Are you serious? Who forced you to buy anything. Apparently you didn't learn when UH-1 went on sale shortly after release. Did someone hold a gun to your head and make you push the buy button. Man up and accept responsibility for your own actions. If you didn't want to wait for a sale that's your choice, no one forced you to do anything. Yeah you try that at your local walmart and survive. Speed is life !!!

SkateZilla Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 The Mi-8 is worth 50$ or even more, but even hardcore fans will think twice to pay this price now when they now they can get it for 20$ two weeks later. Pretty sure the release date of 1.2.6 / Mi-8MTV2 and the Fall Sale being only 2 weeks apart are just a Coincidence. adese Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 That's fine mate... just wait till module (not mod) is on sale... and watch others enjoy it while you wait ;) +1
lorenzoj Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I figured they'd wait till the Holiday season for the MI-8 so those of us who chose to help out at full price wouldn't feel so stupid about it..... Barely a month is just not very nice
sobek Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Ah, finally! The 'so you think that you know everything better' argument. It's not an argument, it's a fact. The people that state that the current sales policy is bad business have no data to go on. You need lots of data to do at least a rough estimate about where the maximum lies on the product price/return curve. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
MauganRa84 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Does kinda suck aye. I paid full price. Love the crap outta this helo, but after seeing all the complaints about the huey sale, and now this......... I will never pay full price for modules again.I've learnt all I gotta do is bide my time for 2 weeks and I'll save 60% on a brand new aircraft. Nice. ...Sheila rides on crashing nightingale. BTTW-DratsaB Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Nice sale. I got a couple of modules in the Steam sale a week or two ago, so I'll be passing this one by. I do kind of sympathize with the people who are annoyed by the Mi8 sale. I know I wont be buying any ED modules at full price again, too risky if sales pop up this quickly. Might be shooting themselves in the foot. I'd say after the Uh1 and now the Mi8, a lot of others will be doing the same. And If they arnt hurt (in a business sense) by this effect, then that means they must be really inflating the initial cost of the modules from what they think it is actually worth. That's how a customer will perceive it anyway. Edited September 19, 2013 by BTTW-DratsaB Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64. VanjaB Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Its always like this. BST is not to blame. Every single game development company does this, do you know why GTA V earned more than 800 Million dollars in the first 24h after release? Because a large number of those purchases were pre-orderes. People are paying a premium to be the first in line. The ED sales bring in people into the fold who otherwise wouldnt have the money to purchase these products. For some people 50 $ is a lot of money, especially people who are from the poorer parts of Eastern Europe or Asia. I for one dont earn nearly enough money to justify purchasing every single DCS product. I paid full price for the Huey and Im not sorry at all about that. But there is no way in hell I would pay the same for the Mi-8. Its still too early in Beta and there is still a lot of flying and learning to do with the Huey, but at a 60% price discount?
-MadCat- Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Last time I got a beta the first day !!! I got the MI-8 with confidence that there would not be a sale before it's out of beta and the sale with the UH-1 would not repeat again. And now this... Still being a student for some more days, I don't yet have money to throw out the window. Like my opinion or not, but this sale, 2 weeks after beta release, I feel I got screwed... Link -> Stateful button commands for many DCS modules
