Mogster Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I think there needs to be a specific hedge object, lines of trees just don't look right. Random trees look OK in a southern Mediterranean map but not in a Northern European map. Really this is a problem all sims have.
SlipBall Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) I think there needs to be a specific hedge object, lines of trees just don't look right. Random trees look OK in a southern Mediterranean map but not in a Northern European map. Really this is a problem all sims have. I agree with that except I would like more flexability than a single hedge object..and like I suggested here: "Almazi...if you could give us a dozen different trees and shrub types in our objects list, and in the tools be able to combine/place/arrange them as individual objects. Then with the man power of the SDK we could do much work on this. A similar tool as in CLod where you can arrange objects, then save to file, paste from file, then able to place and rotate them as a group." having the ability to create, save, paste, rotate as we have in IL-2 CLod FMB, for use with the soon to be released community tools. Then creativity and speed are assured, and Almazi would also have a much easier job for himself on his basic map...I wonder if he is placing a single tree at a time, maybe he will comment this object then can be made in any shape straight, curved etc maybe 20, 50m long...able to be placed/used over and over if it is a performance problem with so many trees and shrubs, then I understand why it can't be done for the game, and I'm fine with that Edited November 4, 2013 by GT 5.0
ED Team NineLine Posted November 6, 2013 ED Team Posted November 6, 2013 I have a question about map creation, dont know if you can answer it, but Luthier wanting to see the community expand and create their own maps, to what degree will the map from RRG be expandable? Will RRG include a large chunk of Western Europe, but only have a small detailed area so that the un-detailed areas could be created by the community, or will it be possible to stitch two or more maps together to create a larger one? So basically my question is, when creating a map will it be better to create a large map, and detail smaller parts as you go, and update other areas, OR can you create small chunks and stitch them together as updates? Chivas Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I would prefer a large map that more detail could be added to by the community and dev team over the years. Where the community added detail could be presented to the dev team for final approval and tweaks. I suppose it would depend on the PC hardware and EDGE graphic engine demands, but PC hardware capabilities would scale with game resource demands over the development years. As long as there are video options for players unable to update their hardware.

It would make the most sense, and with ME objects and such you could even use more of the map before it was done... but I dont know what all goes into that, so I will patiently await an answer :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

I'd like to see what a massive group effort could do.Als long as those guys from the cummunity would be qualified people that take it seriously and do their work according to historical correctness, I say do it! Could cut development time on the map-front by a large chunk for sure.
Merlin-27 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Kirill, Is there a specific date in mind for the Normandy map? I am curious because it would determine what airfields would be in place at the time. I'm do not remember if this has been stated previously. Merlin-27 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 will have different configurations. At least D-day and after D-day. Ok great! Thank you. It seems like by around June 15th there were a good number of allied airfields around the Normandy beachhead. Fifi Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 On the project map, before D Day no airfield to take off from? (if no England...) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
