I love that YouTube channel! Awesome episode... really interesting about the octane and it’s effects on climb rates!

hi just for clearing octane topic

things looks like this

more octane -> bigger manifold pressure allowed = more power = better climb ratio

more octane -> same manifold pressure as with lower octane fuel = same power = same climb ratio

my question is which version of engine do we get. will it be full blown 72inHg beast or early version limited to 54inHg that's my biggest question about dcs p-47

P-47 is at about the same stage as the A8 right now, and the 262 is going good on research and such.

I would like to see options in the ME for sure, but I don't have info on that right now.

It all depends on how the engine model long is done. If they've got complex failure models including detonation and fuel octane ratings, you can get 72" out of the R-2800 as early as you have water injection, but you will have to be vigilante of you intake temperatures and cylinder head temps, lest the engine go into detonation and pre-ignition.

Otherwise we're probably looking at either the 64" 2600 hp rating, or the 54" 2300 hp rating.

I am hopeing we get a late war variant of the P 47D, one that was in use at the same time as the 109 K4 and 190D9.Would not be great to have early war allied planes vs late war german aircraft. I think the P 47D 30 would be OK? At least a P 47D with dive flaps for something unique. An engine cleared to 70" with water and 65" without water would be nice to. :D

Last I heard we're getting a D-30 so the minimum setting we'll have is 64".

If they choose to model it with 150 octane then we'll get 70" (should at least)

i would buy 70" one :)

but it think every power setting above 56'' was with water 65"is with water too

How heavy are they? I got to sit in a Corsair as a kid and my Dad was showing me how to work the controls. Well, the ones I could reach lol....so not the pedals. They were heavy for me, but I was also in pretty young.
