Tim: The joystick is removable from the base; this is how you would access the spring. We are exploring the viability of creating different stick types. If that’s what the community tells us that is what they are looking for, then we’ll do it!

Let me elaborate, it didn't arrive broken or anything, its not because of the packaging or the transport (at least I doubt it.) The throttle is fine but the joystick's axes are very laggy and none of the buttons work. Seems to me like I got a lemon.

Thats what I figured you meant, well, if you did get a lemon, I hope its the only one in that bunch, and we didnt get a bunch of lemons up here in the Great White North :)

For those who have already played with the new software: is it possible to assign several settings in one move?

Let's say : switching to a BVR, Dogfight, or Landing mode, altering the different axis sensitivity and activating a specific sensor and/or a specific mode (FC3/DCS) (Nav, Landing, Vertical Scan, …)?

Maybe with the mode selector switch in combination with a Throttle selector switch (Combat -> BVR/WVR)?

I just hope the software layer is one of the best improvement the X-55 currently provides :smilewink:

Thanks for the pictures and the informations everyone!

I'm very curious as to what is different in the software exactly... because the X52 Pro and X65F has had pretty much the same interface for a while now, aside from all the aesthetics that is.

Maybe they just included the X-55 in the Pro Flight range of the Profiler vs non Pro Flight?

I mean they added the curvature page, but you could do that stuff in the Windows Game Controller Settings anyway.

Not bad but I would like to hear the answers to some of those questions from the head of the design team.

Tim: (Saitek). Furthermore, the X-55 RHINO has 3 modes, meaning each button can be programmed to output 3 separate events at the flick of a switch. So, for example, you can program the Rhino so that in Mode 1 the A button is a standard button press, in Mode 2 a macro button, and in Mode 3 an advanced timed command. Same principle applies to the hats: in Mode 1 it could be a 4 way hat, in Mode 2 an 8 way hat, and in Mode 3 it could act as a mouse. The axes can be banded, which means they can be programmed as a button programming or they could emulate a mouse.

The limits for programming software are only defined by each end user. The profile could just contain 12 basic button commands or it could contain 132 unique commands comprised of basic buttons, macros, timed, banded axis and hat commands.

Thanks Sokol1.

In fact I already read the interview before posting my question.

I assume the kind of combination I suggested may be achievable (based on the section you quoted) and I'd like a "first hand" experience/confirmation from our fellow simmers as there's a usual gap between official statements and reality. ;)

Still waiting on someone to help me out with my mouse nipple problem.

Let me ask you all this: does your mouse nipple move the mouse around your desktop? As I recall it did for me with my X-52, but it does not now with my X-55. Can anyone who has a 55 confirm?

I don't have a X-55 or X-52 but can't you assign it to mouse in the Saitek software? In fact, surely you have to assign anything before it will do something, unless the mouse nipple is actually meant to be seen by Windows as an extra mouse device? I can certainly assign a hat or whatever else I like on my joysticks to mouse with Xpadder.

Actually you don't. It's seen as a mouse by windows as default on the X-52. So that's why I'm hoping someone with an X-55 can confirm for me.

I've got my X-55 and I'm loving it. A solid stick for the price and it's replacing my X-52 PRO. I read your post Shein about the mouse nipple and mine doesn't move on the desktop either. I heard from someone else that if you assign mouse x and mouse y to the mouse nipple and load the profile it should work in-game.

Still doesn't work for me. When you assign mouse X and mouse Y (make sure you load the profile too) does it move the mouse cursor for you?

Hmm it will take at least one or two months before I will be able to buy this stick in my country...

Do, or do not, there is no try.
