Where is the DCS: Mig-21bis Board?

I really couldn't care less who the players and the coach are, what's important is to win the Championship.

Well, I DO care. I do care about Beczl. He was the one who created the FC2 addon, who later came up with the idea of making a full-blown DCS module out of it, he was the one whose name was posted on the crowd funding page and who convinced so many people to donate, and he was the one who invested most effort in his pet project, the MiG-21.

If I'm not mistaken, for pretty long time, it was one-man team working on this project. Beczl's one man team. And while I don't want to belittle the merit and talent of other team members who joined later, let's face it, if it wasn't for Beczl, MiG-21 wouldn't be anywhere near its today's state, setting new standard for future DCS modules. Honestly, there would be hardly any MiG-21 at all. So, that's why I do care about names.

Now, *IF* it turns out that Beczl is out (yes, it's just a speculation, but I'm afraid it might be the case), it's indeed a bad news for all of us. Not as much in context of MiG-21, which is in very high state of completeness, and will probably be finished either with Beczl or without him, but rather in context of future modules. Beczl's name was sort of guarantee to me, without him, it would be entirely different team, from which nobody knows what to expect.

I'm trying to stay out of the speculation and rampant misinformation in this thread, but your reply in particular warrants a response.

I guess we should inform Novak, who has been the main driving force code-wise and a 50/50 partner for the MiG-21 for the past 5 years (i.e. since day 1)-- that without beczl we are nothing.

It's worth noting that beczl's work contained within the MiG-21 today amounts to roughly 14-19% of the aircraft's total assets. It's also worth noting that not a single line of C++ is written by beczl.

The point of this post is not to diminish beczl's massive influence and tireless work put into the aircraft, it is to inform you that you are drawing conclusions that are not based in fact.

Once again, a public statement will be made as soon as possible.

I am sooooo ready for this soap opera to end one way or the other. Although I am still optimistic that the mig-21 will release and the future is still intact with other planned modules from this team.

Now we are getting somewhere. But I don't like what I'm reading between the lines...

..and we don't like being accused of thievery, dishonesty and conspiracies.

No matter how exonorating, publically venting all the dirty laundry is a slippery slope that we do not wish to embark upon.

OK, I seem to miss the information about somebody else working on the project since the very beginning. I lived under the impression that other team members all joined later, for which mistake I deeply and sincerely apologize.

However, am I right it was Beczl's idea? At least I guess it was called Studio Beczl for a reason. It was his name and face on the Indiegogo page, so if nothing else, he was perceived as the "father" of this project. At least I donated my money to Studio Beczl.

I really didn't wanted to make it sound like you are nothing without Beczl, as you assert. I clearly wrote that I didn't want to belittle any of you guys. I'm sure you're all very talented and skilled professionals, and if you weren't working on MiG-21, you might be making another high quality project as well.

So, IF Beczl is out (I repeat IF, it's just a speculation now), you might be able to finish the 21 (and any future modules) without any problems. But, the problem is, this project was always felt to be Beczl's baby. And if it's spiritual father is gone, we hardly can go like "Oh, that's nothing, just another name".

Like, it always were "Bob's homemade sausages". Maybe the new guy taking over his family business will make them even better, but really, is that what people can expect when Bob was fired? I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from.

So sorry if I caused some unwanted offense, but if those speculations turn out to be true, I'm afraid our anxiety is pretty much appropriate. Thank you for trying to keep us informed though.

Apologies for my tone. :)

It's a stressful time here and sometimes it gets to you. There is growing hostility which worries us.

I did not mean to be snappy.

Yes-- beczl has been the public face and the "studio" behind the MiG-21. However, internally things have always been quite different. I understand the speculation and the public perception surrounding the project.

We need to tip-toe the line of disclosure in a way that is reasonable.

As for the future, we have all the talent required to build the next big thing. We're very excited about the future, and are committed to DCS.

P-51D vs Mig-21

Guns only, who wins? ;)

Neither, they both die.

P-51 Blows up his engine from overuse of WEP, and the Mig-21 ingests the debris and blows up his engine, they both eject and on the way down shoot at each other with their side arm.

I wasn't aware of this either... looks like there's lot more we don't know, thanks for this info, it helps clear the mind a bit and puts better light into what happened with this project.

I think that the thing is that you can't easily feel the scale of all the programming done for this great model to work. I can't even imagine how much code it contains. But it is easier to see the results of, for example, textures or models.
