  1. Past hour
  2. Reading a KOLS manual for a future video I’m planning, it says “ Ensures reduction photodiode temperature to 70-80°C. .” I don’t know if it means -70-80° total or just below ambient
  3. Nice one, thanks for sharing here, and yeah great news! That new accurate cockpit for VR goodness is given me some naughty thoughts... ...have we all come across https://authentikit.org/ before? How freaking good would it be to have a set of A4 controls ready for when the v.2 Scooter drops in however many years?! Oh god, not another ED squitfight of rights, development and pay! But I get you - I wish with all my heart ED would step up their mod support. It's so obviously the lifeline of simulations, always has been, it's nuts that modders have to fight so many systems. Even more nuts at how successful they are. The A4, the OH-6...the bloody Lancaster! But it's all despite ED, rather than with thanks to ED (equally obvious caveat that we're only here in the first place with thanks to ED, I get it, but you know what I mean). The only way we'll get an RAF Cold Warrior (and there were some cool ones) into the sim is through community modules, for example, despite them being a pretty key component of Cold War Germany, like wot we've got a map for... Look at DCS YouTube coverage: I reckon about 40% is tutorials/showcase (cos the ones which ship with Early Access planes are normally sub-optimal), and 20% each to campaigns, multiplayer and community modules. That's huge, and deserves to be celebrated. Anyway! Yay A4, great stuff, much excitement.
  4. For the PC gaming demographic that matters here, it’s 2.68% https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam
  5. Sure, the Chameleon Sight with Superman Vision arcade view makes the game easy and fun. But unless one is a Chameleon, with Superman vision? Kind of defeats the purpose of a Simulator. Mk.1 eyeball. Bowie
  6. Well I have a free CPU coming so if that doesn’t work
  7. there is another topic going now and i have seen before. is it possible your PSU is having issues or borderline capable for your system? when the PSU "ages" it gets less capable. just a thought.
  8. I'm not sure this guy even passes the Turing Test.
  9. I agree ,just a couple of training missions, not a full campaign.

  12. Hello, I took some time and recorded some Tacview files and a video from my perspective using the R27R in a MIG29S against a FA18 (Veteran), here are some examples. As you can see, its very unreliable, hitting only some times, most of the time the missile misses with the slightest turn from the enemy plane. 1.acmi 2.acmi 3.acmi 4.acmi 5.acmi 6.acmi 7.acmi 8.acmi 9.acmi R27.trk
  13. I'm all for the Hellcat basic training campaign. For other warbirds, there's YouTube tutorials. Maybe a Spitty or Mossie training somewhere down the line, but as far as the US goes, the Hellcat sounds perfect.

  16. Err... there's already plenty of hardware being sold without an OS, you know that? Literally anything that isn't a complete, ready to go OEM machine will require you to install the OS of your choice. Leaving the OS out of a complete build makes about as much sense as leaving the storage out. Yes, a more discerning customer might want to chose their own HDD/SSD configuration (or transplant one from a previous computer, it's gotten surprisingly painless with Windows 10). If that's your use case, go right ahead. Most people, including many gamers, don't need this sort of thing. There's nothing illegal about offering OEMs preferential package deals on Windows. People choose to have an OS preinstalled, and if you do want Windows, it's much cheaper than buying it separately (though it's not like cheap OEM keys are hard to come by). It's just that they can't choose an option to have Linux already there. They're free to install it later, but they have to actively decide to do so, and figure out a way to actually do that. In fact, notice that despite MS getting into trouble for bundling IE, it remained until late Windows 10 builds (funnily enough, I actually used it instead of early Edge a few times). They'll turn the monitor off then back on, and swear up and down it's the computer. People do this even today. Sounds like you didn't really support any actual lusers. Lucky you. You won't believe the elementary things that nevertheless seem to baffle the normies. Most people today have grown up with smartphones, concepts like local versus cloud storage ("why are pictures from my phone not on my work laptop?"), folders (ever seen one of their desktops?), manual saving, programs that actually close when you click the big X, are scary and foreign to them. The brighter ones can be taught. The dimmer ones will say "I'm not technical" and that's the end of it. It's not a "monopoly" if various Linuxes have less than 60% of the market to themselves. In truth, WindowsServer seems to have something like 44% of server market, and the remaining 8% are still stuck on various UNIXes. Servers are also irrelevant to this discussion because of the reasons I already mentioned. People don't exactly walk into an IBM store and buy an S1012 all set up and ready to go. People who do set up servers are supposed to know what they're doing.
  17. Hello: I'm flying over an airport in Irak with two enemy planes and the radar doesn't detect anything or sound Mig29A Fulcrum.trk
  18. Hey with the new helmet visor feature i noticed that they are all toned. Can we also have CLEAR Visors as option?
  19. Sunday co-op missions hosted by the Forgotten are few and far between in recent months, but the three original Blue side only PVE servers are still up. All of the server missions have been updated to support dynamic spawning and the mission tasking system provided in the F10 menu now states clear primary objectives to achieve victory. When victory is achieved or a mission has been running for more than 4 hours, an F10 menu option appears to permit rotating to the next mission. After 7 hours, the mission rotates automatically. The servers also use slmod which permits calling a vote among player clients to rotate to any desired mission. Early Cold War Servers: Cold War 1973-1977 (A-4E-C and OH-6A mods supported but not required) with four missions in random rotation: Defend Georgia (free Caucasus Map) Estonia Liberation (free Caucasus Map) Extended Vietnam (free Marianas Map) Fulda Gap (Cold War Germany Map) Early Cold War Servers: Forgotten War (Korea) 1950-1953 (no mods) with three missions in random rotation on the free Caucasus Map: Battle of Chosin Battle of Seoul Battle of Taehwa-do Early Cold War Servers: The Vietnam War (A-4E-C and OH-6A mods supported but not required) with six missions in random rotation on the free Caucasus Map: Battle for Hue Battle of Khe Sanh Battle of Saigon Ho Chi Minh Trail Linebacker I Operation Flaming Dart Additionally, I host three more servers that mirror the ones listed above with the exact same missions except that the Red side is enabled (permitting PVP) and a large number of mods are supported including many of the VSN mods as well as the OV-10A and C-130H: Early Cold War Servers: * Streak Eagle's Cold War PVE PVP VSN Early Cold War Servers: * Streak Eagle's Korean War PVE PVP VSN Early Cold War Servers: * Streak Eagle's Vietnam PVE PVP VSN However, the main reason for this updated post is to announce an experimental new server: Early Cold War Servers: * Streak Eagle's Middle East PVE PVP VSN (A-4E-C, VSN F-100, and VSN Mirage III mods supported but not required) with only one mission: Valley of Tears (Syria Map) This first mission covers the early days of the battle for the Golan Heights in the 1973 October War (Yom Kippur). I intend to make at least one more mission using the Sinai map covering the battle for the Sinai Peninsula during that same war. If these missions work well, I may try to make server missions covering other Arab-Israeli conflicts as well as the Iran-Iraq War. Unlike the other servers, these missions are not focused on a particular time frame. So, anything from a 1948 themed mission featuring WW2 aircraft up to 1991 Desert Storm is possible, which covers the entire Cold War range of aircraft.
  20. Agree, the automatic setting has no effect. I have never tried the Mirage in single player but in MP I have to assign all the safeties to my lack of buttons, which is quite uncomfortable in VR This affects at least CE and BE, EE not tested yet.
  21. At least for the Viper, you can toggle it on/off. I bet you can for the hornet as well
  22. This is a problem that multiple modules have had for many years now, and it doesn't appear that fixes will be coming anytime soon. Luckily, in the meantime, fixes already exist for several aircraft in the form of file edits, you just have to search for them in the user files section.
  23. So using fovcalc.app, I plugged in my screen of 24", sitting approximately 60cm from the screen, and I chose the specific DCS FA-18C preset. It gave me settings of: Physical FOV - Horizontal FOV 47.8° Vertical FOV 28°. Do these get plugged straight into the default view values (snapviews.lua)? The first value is called "Viewing Angle", then there are hfov, vfov and the eye position offsets. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk
