OpenXR Toolkit 1.3.8 still usable as stand alone (not Steam)
Flyingfish replied to StratosFalcon's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks, it's interesting that you don't get stutters when using meta link but I do, we have nearly identical systems. Do you use ASW or is your FPS always at the headset refresh rate? -
This is something I've noticed since the release of the module. When I'm on the carrier. I hold the breaks and throttle up to max MP and RPM. Sometimes this causes the aircraft to lean forward and i have to let go of the brakes before the prop hits the deck. This is how it should be. No warbird in DCS can hold still with max power. However in the Corsair. About half the time. I can go max power. And can hold the breaks indefinitely. The nose does not dip forever. It doesn't seem to be a bug related to power as the aircraft takes off fine wether it's can or can't hold the breaks. So it might be some bug related to the carrier. Mabye the back wheel sticks or something. But I'm quite sure it's not supposed to happen like that.

OpenXR Toolkit 1.3.8 still usable as stand alone (not Steam)
mrsylvestre replied to StratosFalcon's topic in Virtual Reality
There may be other features that are desirable from the OpenXR Toolkit but if the main reason for still using it today is turbo mode for higher and/or smoother frame rates, it is worth considering QuadViews (QVFR, also by MBucchia) as a potentially better alternative. QVFR also has a setting to enable turbo mode and in addition proposes an alternative for foveated rendering that is very efficient in reducing GPU load in DCS with little or no perceived image quality reduction. YMMV. -
need new track HTS will not lock up Radars / SAM sites

THIS. Get in the habit of hitting dobber-left and backing out to the root DED page. -Ryan -
ahhhhh thank you! Appreciate the info!

Uh, DCS tracks are still bugged?! Try without Stream Deck and search in the dcs.log for errors.

Please, can we have the manual/QS guide before the release?

HUD: No target speed/alt without datalink. No target overlayed symbol. Right side of HUD is only on IPV/HDD. Symbology is only correct for level flight. Heading tape goes away with lock. No radar mode displayed, can only tell by fixed radar range in each mode. No target aspect in IRST mode, IRST mode ranging is uncertain beyond 6.5 km and might take 8 seconds or alert enemy RWR. No specific ATK symbol to show memory mode. Bar scanned on HDD/IPV. Rhombus is radar gimbal limit. RWR: No EWR or AWACs categories. Sides and rear have less range then front. 50/90 doesn’t show target at 60-80 degrees but actually 80-100 degrees and only at close range, 50 light only at medium to long range. PD fighters are misplaced in medium range SAM category until close range. Presence of missile tag showing estimate of enemy attack distance. Signal strength no longer shows linear distance but exponential. Possible blinding at close range. Elevation showing only works at close range. Low SHORAD priority. Sensor interaction: You do not have simple on/off control of radar and IRST to switch primary sensor. What is primary sensor will be decided by placement of SUV knob, whether in search or track mode, selected weapon, if laser range is present, and placement of interaction switch. In addition, one sensor will only pick up the lost lock of another sensor if you turn on interaction switch. Which locks radar to MPRF. Some things for people to expect -

No it gets added to the pool on startup but might get parked before polled. So when it's needed it might not be in the state is should be causing the stutter until it's unparked again. See it as a database pool where the connections time out after a while but the pool doesn't know about their state. When you're unlucky enough to grab that connection from the pool, the database takes a bit longer to open that connection again as it would on an already open connection. -

OpenXR Toolkit 1.3.8 still usable as stand alone (not Steam)
Qcumber replied to StratosFalcon's topic in Virtual Reality
It's not necessarily the headset. It is more likely a combination of other factors including pc hardware and software. In some cases Turbo mode can introduce stutters. I only need to use Turbo mode when I use VD via WiFi. It helps smooth out the frametimes but does not necessarily reduce visible stutter. With VD ethernet and Meta link I don't need it. The frametimes are very consistent. This is what mbucchia says about it in his GitHub Wiki: "Turbo mode Note: This is a highly experimental feature. If it makes your game crash or misbehave, please disable it. Turbo mode makes the game entirely ignore any frame timing or throttling dictated by the OpenXR runtime. In other words, Turbo mode forces the game to draw and submit frames as fast as possible regardless of any recommendations or policies from the OpenXR runtime. Turbo mode can increase your frame rate under certain conditions, but there is no rule or guarantee. Turbo mode can also have undesired side effects: Any statistics or performance measuring tool might now present incorrect data for frame times (however frame rate will be reported correctly). For example, on WMR, when using the performance overlay, all app CPU/GPU values will read 0. Any feature of your platform that relies on frame timing data, such as Motion Reprojection/Motion Smoothing/ASW, will not behave correctly. For example, on WMR, the motion reprojection will not engage automatically anymore, but it can be forced via the Lock motion reprojection option. Latency is increased, in a way that may or may not visible. Note: Turbo mode is offered as-is. There will be no support for issues filed while using Turbo mode." - Today

With DCS you need to accept 'close enough'. If you tried for 100% accuracy in theatre, targets, ground units, weapons and aircraft versions you'd never get any flying is done. The nature of DCS is that substitutions and stand-ins are as good as we can hope for. There is no single coherent plan, except maybe WWII (though purists might argue that too is compromised).

Thank you, that's extremely strange, My screen recording shows different. What I'll do is try and select A/G from the game (I have a streamdeck linked, which usually acts as my mode selector) and see if it works. How odd

I think that it also matters what competition they have. For example, if you want an F-16 ICP panel, then it seems that they don't have any competition anywhere near their price level for a finished product.

OpenXR Toolkit 1.3.8 still usable as stand alone (not Steam)
Flyingfish replied to StratosFalcon's topic in Virtual Reality
It worries me that I need open XR toolkit turbo mode to get smooth performance in DCS. If open XR toolkit stops working with DCS it'll be unusable for me. Does anyone know if this is a problem for all headsets or just meta ones?
