  1. Hi all Just been getting back into this sim after some time away. Have drilled down into the manual. Ver 101. No problems with trim. But having some fun and games with Auto hover (which I like to use at a battleposition, so I can focus on targeting, getting my weapons away). At times I have gone into whirlygig mode, rotating in the hover at a high speed. Note stab aug on, ie pitch hold, bank hold, hdg hold Here is the mechanics of what I am doing1/slow to point where 000 is showing in Shkval, no discernible movement, vertically or horizontally 2/ Trim 3/ Set Autohover (sometimes this works better than other times) 4/ Use hms to get sckval in the ballpark of the tgt/lock tgt 5/ set to moving tgt, turn on tgt. Target is locked, all the symbology looks good. However, when the I go to add a little rudder to ensure all is lined up (Vikhr shot), the chopper remains locked to the hdg, no amount of rudder will bring the nose of the chopper around to get a lock? Now. I am wondering what are the preconditions so that all goes smoothly, modes on the autopilot etc? From the manual To hover automatically over a ground-point after decelerating to near-zero airspeed, you can engage HOVER mode using the following procedure:  Set the “МАРШРУТ-СНИЖЕНИЕ” (ROUTE - DESCENT) switch to the neutral position.  Press the “ВИСЕНИЕ” (HOVER) button on the cyclic and this will illuminate the “ВИСЕНИЕ” (HOVER) light on the overhead panel. The helicopter will then stabilize above the hover point; radar altitude stabilization mode will engage; and the “Нрв СТАБ” (RALT HOLD) light will illuminate on the overhead panel I am assuming the neutral position is on the collective? What mode should the ap be in? Thanks in advance to this somewhat wordy post.

  3. There's alot of bad press in this thread regarding the Warthog which almost descouraged me from picking one up until I saw it for the lowest price I've seen in Canada yet, and snapped it up for $409.00. (http://www.greytech.com) I had low expectations when it arrived yesterday and was very impressed with the both the throttle and stick when I took them out of the box. I knew they'd be big but this exceeded my expecations. Hard to tell from the pics but this HOTAS is huge! (my poor plastic keyboard tray could barely hold it up) First thing I checked for was "Stiction" as you guys seemed to view it as a big concern. My copy is smooth as silk through the entire range of motion, so far. I don't know if the folks that had problems with this saw it right away or it developed over time. I shall certainly keep an eye on it. It will definately take some getting used to as the deflection on the stick is about half of what my CH Fighter Stick is, and of course the springs are much stiffer. But, I like it. I've only flown for about 2 hours with it and I've really noticed increased accuracy when maneauvering and firing the GAU-8. The buttons all feel very solid and like I'd imagine the ones in the real A10 being. A few folks have commented on the slew stick being hard to get used to but I found it quite nice to work with and I could control the TGP easier with it then the one on the CH Pro Throttle. One little gripe I do have is that I pulled the base off the stick to turn it around as that fit better with my setup and I noticed that the screws and mounting points look rusty. Or maybe it's some kind of lock-tite, but it looks like rust to me.... Anybody else notice this? Anyways, that's all I have for now as I haven't used it much but my initial impressions are very good and I'm kinda surprised at all the bad press on the ED forum. Maybe I just lucked out with my serial. Happy Holidays everyone, Mack

  11. I think the "stiction" is relatively the same for all the sticks. It's just that some are more sensitive than others to it. That red grease TM's uses is definitely too thick for the application. I changed it out with Dow Corning Molkote EM-30L plastic lithium soap and it's noticeably smoother. I can now make the smallest almost imperceptible aircraft movements with one finger.

  13. i agree with that, in my opinion its a pointless vote... F-22 and F-35 we sure wont see as next DCS module, to much classified... and a F-14 two-seater? i dont think so. the only real possibility is the F/A-18 .... and a poll for one aircraft? as i said, pointless. ;)

  15. As promised here's the tutorial how you configure single switches with TARGET while keeping other buttons default mapping in DCS. First use the attached TARGET-Profile as a sample (you can modify it or create a new one according to your needs). SAMPLE PROFILE When you open the profile you can see, only the Throttle is embedded in this profile. Then, on the next window, you will see the mapped buttons, while all other buttons are mapped as default DX-butons. Thats quite important! You will also notice that the modified buttons are mapped, using two layers. Leave the "Edit configuration" and run the profile! It should then look like the picture below. Now start DCS:A-10C! Go to Options->Controls! You should find a column called "Thrustmaster Combined" (see picture below). Click into a field within this column. Now the "Load Profile"-Button should be highlighted (see picture below). Click it and then load the deafult TMW-Throttle lua-file (see picture below)! Now everything should work like the default Plug&Play configuration, except for the switches you mapped with TARGET. Hope this helps!

  18. Well seems worth to give it a try then. Bot AAO have predictable behavior only on certain maps, and there s a lot of bad BF like maps. As for the bullet going outof the forehead or weapon , it doesnt make that diference as the importanto is "weapon and bullet behavior", and i don t play 3rd person anyway, i ain t there to look at my body. As sliding to knee is a matter of preference, i played warlike paintball scenario with Brazilian Marines VS infantry, and they used both behavior. Usually you slide when you have time, or you "ho F" dive when you re in a "Ho F" situation. So thats not relevant, its personal choice. In AAo Ai was removed so its human behavior, for bad or for good. Avoiding fire is a very valid and i confess only simotime used behavior, many time i choosed not to fire avoiding to give my position to reach OBJ, or a better position. I quited AAO because conex is a b! to other countries. I fear Arma @ will be the same. Does it have enought Sp to be good ? Does it have an mission editor ? Thanks for the review anyway, i m really missing some good non goofy or Superhuman military shooter.

  19. Could we get the ability to have the friendly infantry use IR strobes for ID? This would add immersion, and aid in preventing fratricide when labels are off when bluefor is in close contact with enemy during low light/night missions.

  27. Tell him thanx from me.! I've already sent a request for info to them.. Well Christmas is just arround the corner. And I've had to put pitbuilding aside for another project. My father (..the old engineer..) is retiring from a hectic life of civil engineering, and moving back home from Abu Dhabi to slow things down and enjoy the fruits of he's life.. LIKELY..!:megalol: He's even worse than me when it comes to keeping busy. And since I am he's favourite son (and as far as I know.. he's ONLY son?). I have been dreading this for quite some time now.. I mean, who do you think he'll be focusing on when he moves back home? ... Yours truly naturally..! I'll be forced to actually live up to my potential, and that will seriously rob me from all my beloved, seemingly meaningless but really fun, time consuming digressions in life..! :helpsmilie: So I came up with this idea. If I make sure he's always busy doing something else, he would'nt have time to think about me? And I kinda' think it's going to sort off work maybe.... So how do you grasp the attention of a guy who's been spending the last 20 years building fully automated oil rigs in Germany and giant PEH plants in Abu Dhabi..? ...... Simple.... you give him a hexabot robot in pieces, and no instruction manual on how to assemble it..!!! So I did some reading on different robotics forum, and with a mental picture in my head, and some printed pictures of what they look like, I started what will probably be the most hectic build of my life..! I have untill the 24th to design, produce, assemble it (I want it to work remember.. 'cause if not ..? I don't even want to think about that scenario.. LMAO), dissassemble it and organize all nuts and bolts into plastick ziplock bags, and make sure the required wires and switches are in place.. Phhuh..! This is how far I came tonight: ... no seriously. I havebeen wanting to build one for quite some time now. And this was the perfect excuse for doing it. My idea is to give it to dad in pieces, and with no manual. But knowing him him figure it out how to assemble it by the second day of christmas. And that's when I come over for a family dinner to start the real reason for giving this seemingly bizarre gift. It will give us both a project that we both can work together on..! The assembly is just for building up to the REAL challenge.. We have to make the thing walk..! And the Arduino card controlling it is as dumb as a polarbear in a turtleneck sweater trying to get in to a giraffe only club..! So all in all It's a gift for me to... 'cause he's really cool to spend time with, and I have to admitt that I love that old fart..! ps. did an inventory on my opencockpits cards.. It thought it so cool that I left it all on the table and went to bed.. Did I hear anyone say NERD..!? Merry Christamas to all of you guys..! With all the eating and family affairs, and me going on my skiing instructor course the 27th, I'll most likely be just reading the forum untill I get home on january 2nd 2011.. On new years eve i'll be somewhere way up in the mountains, far away from anything electric. And I will LOVE IT..! ...oh yeah, and a happy new year to..!:joystick:

  31. Hi, yes- the missiles at the wing tip pylons will not follow if the wings folding up and down. I think that these issues are still the maintain problem why nobody starts to rebuild the Su-33. I`m not pretty sure but it could be possible that I pointed it out how it works: I used an F-18 model to replace the su-33. But you can do it with every model wich having folding wings. After some approaches I had the idea to set "points" near at the missile rails and named them "pylon1", "pylon2" and so on. After that I linked these points with the misiles rails wich was still linked with the wings. However: I used the argument "8" to animate the folding wing sequency and imported it into FC2. And it works! So if I can do it with an F-18 model, every can do it with a Su-33 model so the way is free to build it correctly Hope, it helps anybody ... My very best wishes, TOM

  43. Well, it's an "overlay" right? Meaning you would not have the need to switch to the desktop, cause you could see what you're switching to with the simulation in full screen.

  44. Alt+Enter is a Windows hotkey to switch applications between windowed mode, and full screen. Some applications choose to disable it, but I believe that it will work with BS. You can also try Ctrl+Esc, or just hitting the Windows Start key (it has a Windows logo on it) to bring up the Start menu, and you can then switch to TS. Alternatively if you have a Logitech G15 keyboard, in TS3 there is a plugin (go to the plugins menu) to enable a display on the small LCD screen that allows you to switch channels, and administrate the server. There is also a plugin for TS2, but it's not official-I've been using it for years and it's wonderful though. I'm not sure if the G19 has one.
