Strange artifacting after todays patch.
zildac replied to Cade108's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Yup, I am seeing exactly the same. I assumed it was mods so disabled all of them. Was also using Matts Varjo Foveated so also disabled that, issue still persists. I was testing on Caucasus ready on the ramp in the Hornet. This seems to be a base game issue. Related to fog and lighting changes possibly? This is in VR for me, have not tried in 2D. @BIGNEWY -
Well, TBH my RAM is rated at 6600, but it is still an overclock. Re my Mobo (ASUS Z690 Hero) it was just a case of using the “XMP Tweaked” profiled and selecting 6600.

Other than the standard rated OC @6600, no. And on Intel 14th Gen and Z690 it is only 99% stable. DCS runs fine, but some other apps which are more parallelised cause hangs occasionally, so I may actually drop it down to 6000.

Turbo mode works fine in VFR too (obviously OXRTK needs to be disabled)

Gotcha, OK yeah I do recall that was a limitation. Never tried it, so don't know if it is now possible. The only reason I like QVFR was I could still run OXRTK and have a clock, But the eye tracking issues meant I just went back to VFR and live without a clock.

Ah OK. So why don't you just use Varjo Foveated from Matt instead? You have an Aero.

Thanks for posting, interesting results. One thing though, you mention you are using an Aero and QVFR (not VFR) there's been an ongoing issue with the Aero and QVFR where eye tracking gets disabled, and the log contains entries to that effect. Are you not seeing this issue, what version of Varjo Base are you running with the Aero 3.x or 4.x?

Will the vacuum cleaner engine sounds ever be updated?
zildac replied to Punkmonkey22's topic in AV-8B N/A
Nice!!! Looking forward to trying it! -
Just tried the latest version of TTI Afghanistan, and the F10 menu shows no options re tasking for A2G at all. Am in the AV8 using the latest version of DCS

Heavy Rain is truely horrifying now (2.9.6)
zildac replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Clouds & Weather System
I also had a quick try out with this setting in VR and I can't really see an awful lot (if any) difference between high vs low. -
7800X3D/9800X3D vs. 14900k - any benchmarks?
zildac replied to Winger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Agreed. And if DCS is installed on a separate drive then should be very easy (also backup saved games/DCS). -
7800X3D/9800X3D vs. 14900k - any benchmarks?

I think there's a LOT of people (including me) that would like to have a nice detailed comparison of your performance with the 14900K versus the 9800X3D -

Thanks. No joy here. I do have a lights mod installed. I'll zap that and retest, just in case. Nope, still not visible, no idea what the issue is. -

zildac replied to Xhonas's topic in Bugs and Problems
Is this still an issue in the latest build? Tried a Case III for the first time in a long time today and there was no long range laser lineup. -

Exactly the same for me "CPU bound render thread" (specs in sig) -
Don't know about MP but the fundamental advantage of this mod is a saving in VRAM for those that don't have 24GB cards

Apologies. Yes you're right, I checked and I did get store credits [emoji1303]

You can refund it, you'll likely get miles.

Good point, not sure that InVision Power Board supports it natively, though. Looks like it was raised a few years ago too: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/454463-ignore-block/

You need to have the pod loaded on the relevant station.
-
Interesting, I don't notice too much as I do little night flying, but sometimes it is noticeable in certain lighting conditions. How do you find the performance difference with FFR versus DFR. Better, worse or the same?
-
No worries, for info I run 1.4 for focus and 0.7 for peripheral...YMMV
-
My reply was relating to the use of Mbucchia Varjo Foveated. I think we are agreeing. My point was that whilst Vajo Base supports DFR natively now (with the relevant reg key created) it doesn't offer you the control that Varjo Foveated from Matt does. So my point was, it's probably more advantageous to continue using Matts Varjo Foveated tool until(if) it stops working. In order to use Varjo Foveated (as you probably know) you NEED to disable eye tracking in DCS and ensure Quad views is enabled in DCS, all the config is done in the relevant file, as outlined here: https://github.com/mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated/wiki#configuration Locations In order of look-up: %LocalAppData%\Varjo-Foveated\settings.cfg (you may have to create this folder and the file yourself, or copy from the fallback path below) %ProgramFiles%\OpenXR-Varjo-Foveated\settings.cfg First file that is found is used! Syntax peripheral_multiplier=1 focus_multiplier=1 turbo_mode=1 no_eye_tracking=0
