  1. So with your core installed, do I not need this one?
  2. Unless it's something different in the G2. In the past while playing with settings, I'd push to res to something way high and I could actually see what I can only describe as very fine honeycomb or chicken wire pattern.
  3. Screen door is direct evidence you're pushing the resolution too high.
  4. I've been contemplating the Crystal... but for now I'm perfectly happy with the G2. Especially since upgrading to RTX 4080.
  5. Glad I went with the 4080 then... slapped it in, moved some sliders up. Heaven.
  6. Start by turning off MSAA, and dial back the resolution to100% for starters. I would even try the headset at 80Hz.
  7. Try it with the HMD set to 60Hz... likely be some strobing looking toward brighter areas, but you should be able to maintain 60fps zero stutter or blurring. Maybe even up the resolution. The strobe took me some getting used to but, now it's the only way I fly since I don't have to jack with motion repro or locking frame rates etc. Now I no longer notice.
  8. I just checked... I no longer see the lighting or cloud anomalies as before. Though, I can't say I notice a benefit either.
  9. For me it was flying at night, using the interior lighting (F-16/A-10IIC) I could see the lighting through my left, but not right eye. Also, daytime flying: Random distant clouds were only visible through one eye, this was before the new cloud model. As well as con-trails on distant aircraft against a clear blue sky.
  10. Went back to Team Green... time to relearn NCP settings. Anyone have must haves or list that have no effect for DCS? After returning the Vive EliteXR, I decided to go with a GPU upgrade, which I just installed. Switched from RX6900XT to MSI RTX 4080 and HOLEEE SHEET!! I'm at 150% render scale (up from 80), 2xMSAA (from OFF). shadows on(were OFF), clouds back to High(from standard). Absolutely NO stutters. And it looks better that I could have imagined. Even the colors are better and lessened shimmer. I may not sleep tonight
  11. Cool, so you started from scratch basically? I have a feeling my pre-existing VR environment of SteamVR and OpenXR might have added to my difficulties, but I wasn't near in the mood for an OS reload after the SVR reinstall had no change.
  12. Glad it worked for you. I can imagine your delight being this is you're first VR experience. If you don't mind, typing up a "How I got the Elite XR to work with DCS/Steam VR." how to. I threw every prior knowledge of DCS/VR I had at it, even trying a few other titles and as far as I ever got to "seeing" anything was the Halflife Alyx load screen and could hear the canned radio chatter and music effects. Could see the rubble strewn floor, but never a menu etc, that would be about the time SteamVR CTD ... again. I recall seeing one small menu window on screen prompting me to press the menu button on the left controller to enter SteamVR, but pressing it did absolutely nothing. I could see the LED around the button indicating I had pressed, but again, nothing. After 6+ hours of that, recalling the $1200 I had just plunked down for it and history of the ease of use with the G2 and WMR, I decided to stick with what I knew. I still cannot justify the price point for the Elite XR, considering you get the HMD and 2 bargain bin controllers. For that kind of money I was expecting a pair of Lighthouse trackers and/or Index type controllers.
  13. That was the ticket... my Son caught it right as I hit post.
  14. First run I was prompted to login, entered info, errored that it was incorrect. Now it doesn't prompt me for relogin, just returns this error. Failed to get authorization data. Error code is: 500 No saved authorization found. dcs.log
  15. I've run my G2 at 60Hz since OpenComposite No reprojection (not necessary). I maintain near solid 60fps, with high DCS settings(no MSAA) and 80% render in OXRTfWMR. To this day, I do not notice any 60Hz flicker some report. Any slight amount is also eliminated by using the Light sunglasses in OXR Toolkit. I have an RTX 4080 enroute next week. Can't wait to see how much further I can push it.

  17. Even if it were, it's a $500 headset at best.
  18. Several more hours of attempts later... Nothing but errors, crashing SteamVR, reinstalls, reboots again and again. Tried with Halflife Alyx and a couple other SteamVR games. Did I mention uncomfortable as hell?
  19. Ok This thing's going right back in the box to be returned. Fit is horrible... feels like wearing a cheap set of kids wal-mart swim goggles. Only missing is the snorkel Trust me, avoid at all cost. Speaking of cost... there's no way on Earth this thing is worth $1200 I half expected lighthouse tracking sensors for this kind of money. And they have the gall to sell the "streaming cable" for an additional $79
  20. Hour in and I have yet to figure out how to run DCS through this thing... or anything that's not built in. First thoughts: Very uncomfortable, face gasket doesn't block all external light. Horrible glare inside lenses. Clunkiest, fumbly setup interface I've ever seen. I see no use whatsoever for the passthrough feature, other than a blurry yet, color view of my room.
  21. Thanks. I'll give the even numbered cores a shot.
  22. My first experience with it was shortly after the AH-64 came out. In VR I use the cross icon as my mouse pointer with HOTAS mapped for right/left click. Prior to (then) Shake Reduction in OXRToolkit, it was difficult for me to accurately enter waypoint info on the keypad since my head was driving the cursor. Also made aiming the cannon much more stable. I no longer use motion smoothing of any kind, but I do recall it played hell with MS.
  23. Ok, now estimated arrival is tomorrow.
