  1. Next you'll tell me that people should be allowed to play DCS without first pretending to go through years of military training. Don't be ridiculous
  2. Long answer, yeeeeeeesssss (Eventually there will be avionics language translations and also English and Russian voices for Petromiss)
  3. I'm really looking forward to seeing what y'all Apache pilots get up to. This is what DCS is all about to get to simulate these scenarios that (thank God) never came to be. Apaches and A-10s fighting swarms of Soviet armor formations is way cooler than flying around for three hours then dropping a single jdam on a house filled with baddies.
  4. It sounds like you're having this problem every time you reduce the collective. I would check through all your control bindings and make sure whatever you're using to lower the collective isn't also lowering the engine throttles (the individual ones, the twist grip isn't enough to shut down your engine like in the picture) or the fuel cutoffs or anything related to the engine. Other than that, a track file would be needed to figure out what's going wrong.
  5. Wait what. I think that's your problem. How are you even managing level flight with full collective? You should be cruising with around 7-9 degrees rotor pitch in most cases.
  6. A track replay or a video would be very helpful to see what the issue is
  7. What do you think about the stall warnings flying through the trail of a lofting Phoenix? I always think it's pretty cool when that happens. I'm sure rocket exhaust is a lot hotter than jet engine, but I don't know if the volume is enough. It is a pretty big missile though.
  8. Sounds like the true purpose of the lockout is for maintaining control when the auto control becomes too self aware. Real Apache pilots won't say it because it's classified but there's actually nobody in the front seat. It's always been George9000
  9. In the mission, the Mig23s are set to spawn from helicopter parking, so they just sit there for the whole mission and never taxi to the runway. Fixed by moving the parking spots for the Migs to one of the fighter spots. Steps to reproduce: What I did: Fly the mission for 30 minutes and wonder what you're doing wrong until you get shot down by a boat lol Easier: Open in mission editor, set all units visible on F10 map, start the mission and observe Mig-23s sitting on the ramp
  10. This basically says everything that needs to be said. And the Sidewinder tracks perfectly too. 120's are totally fucked right now
  11. Gonna make a wishlist topic for a boat trailer for the Apache lol
  12. Hey it never hurts to be thorough lol. But yeah I assume you generally wouldn't want to back taxi a tricycle gear in most cases
  13. I don't know about the Ka-50 and Harrier, but IRL the Hind is prohibited from back taxiing. -Mi-35P Helicopter Flight Manual. I assume there's the same restriction for all models of Hind. Can't see any reason it'd be different between variants
  14. Reading that manual, the position of the handle is correct in most cases. In normal operation it should be in the off position "- No function". When the alternate release handle is used there should be no nosewheel steering until the switch is raised into the reset position. (And the plane has functioning hydraulics again obviously). It's most likely a spring loaded switch since it's purpose to re-enable whatever hydraulic bypass is activated to release the up-locks. Basically, it should always be off unless you've used the emergency gear release and need to restore your nosewheel steering. That's generally what reset means anyway, you would not expect a switch to ever be in a "reset" position by default.
  15. I had a similar issue earlier loaded up with two racks of standard Atakas, one rack of HE, and one rack of air to air. Could only get tone from the standard HEAT ones. I'll do some more testing later and upload a track
  16. I'd argue that Petrovich is better than Jester for a single player. I get that the scope of what they're doing is vastly different. An F14 RIO is obviously super different and dealing with intercepts, bvr combat, etc yada yada I know. But what I prefer about Petrovich is the design philosophy of using the co-pilot in a way to allow you to directly control things. Look here, target that, shoot now, etc. I know Heatblur is going for something else trying to simulate the complex relationship between pilot and rio, but as a single player I would 100% prefer just being able to click a button and push up and down left right on a switch in the F14 to move my radar up and down and stuff like that. Hook this target, etc. The wheel interface is so slow it really sucks for things that in real life the RIO would either do himself or you could just say over the intercom in three words. Also Petrovich's interface is very well documented in the quick start guide and it's really not much to remember. Especially as the pilot
  17. The pilot probably died. Take a look at the scoreboard. The Hind crew dies if even a slight breeze hits the pilot
  18. +1 let me remove them! If I want to get blasted by MANPADs so I can have a sexier Hind that's my business
  19. I've been building my own missions. It's what I always end up doing anyway with modules so far. I found a PDF from the CIA about the Soviet army structure and unit breakdowns that I used to build a ton of templates of different platoons, battalions and regiments. My go to strategy is just to think of what I want to do ( CAS, ground escort, interdiction, or base assault), plop down the friendly units and enemy units I want and hop in. It lacks the narrative and fancy triggers and stuff in a campaign or nice mission but since I made it and know generally what's going on it doesn't really matter. Pretty quick and it's fun. At the end of the day you just want to be in the Hind flying around and blowing shit up. But I like my missions to be more realistic-ish than "oh there's 20 APCs sitting in the middle of a field doing nothing". I find with helicopters in DCS going the extra mile with units and mission design is really crucial since you're low down and close to the action. Hiding scouts and security in tree lines, finding objective areas that feel tactically important, stuff like that. Anything to make it feel more authentic-ish really pays off. Definitely checkout CasmoTV on YouTube for ideas. He's a real life Kiowa and Apache pilot who does lots of DCS stuff. He has some tactics and mission design series that are hands down some of the best DCS content out there.
  20. A little late to the party here, but I'm a pretty new DCS player and even newer Tomcat owner. Just want to shout out how much I appreciate this. This campaign was totally badass and I was so driven to want to do it "by the book" that I forced myself to do the refueling that I normally avoid like the plague. I have two young children and usually prefer spending my limited time in the game doing a bit more exciting stuff. Boy was I wrong. I haven't even managed a full refuel but just the satisfaction of being able to take enough fuel (multiple times) to complete missions and RTB was like nothing I've ever experienced in a game. Not to mention the carrier quals to start it off! My carrier landing attempts in the Tomcat ended in a funeral 9.9 times out of 10. With this campaign I learned how to do a case 1! It's no SHB but it gets my ass on the deck in one piece. RTB and caught a wire in every mission. Well nearly every mission but no spoilers. Awesome stuff! Great campaign. Can't wait for part 2!
  21. The alignment procedure isn't meant to change the placement in your screen. (Though this really does need to be adjustable). Think of the alignment kind of like INS, it's to make sure the aircraft systems think you're looking in the same place you think you're looking.
  22. yeah the real one sounds like a mix between a Vulcan and Avenger. The module doesn't sound at all accurate unfortunately. Did the time stamp wrong. You get a good sound with it on the plane right before the 10:00 mark
  23. Yes. Did you? This change is concerned with the confliction of Maverick vs TPOD video display and the inability to self-lase the AGM-65E. I reproduced the error in my track file by following that procedure. The track posted by shiroka shows this bug affected weapons that are not part of those changes
  24. Aernov is right. Here's a track of the issue. This happens even when following the updated procedures. The track file is me trying to use a L/E2 Maverick according to the new procedure. As you can see, the weapon is not able to be selected properly, let alone uncaged, when the TPOD video is active on any MFD. Weapons can be selected just fine when the TPOD video is off. Harrier Uncage Bug.trk
  25. Having the same issue
