Deka Simulations announces the DCS: J-8II for DCS World!
gnomechild replied to Mike_Romeo's topic in DCS: J-8II
Of all the aircraft available to make, Deka has decided to make a jet that never existed beyond a prototyping phase. Really not sure what the thought process is here. "Full fidelity" simulation of a fantasy I guess- 389 replies

#4 MKR + TP is 'Marker' and "telebriefing" (not sure where the P comes in, probably something French. In the manual for the F1ED it's labelled "MKR + TB") The telebriefing is the ground intercom. If your canopy is closed, you need to depress that dial to talk to the ground crew. The little yellow light underneath it will illuminate when it's active. When you're airborne, the dial controls the volume of marker beacons, and the pushbutton does nothing. For #3, I'm not sure. The dial should control the volume of the RWR, but I'm not sure what the function of its button is. In the F1ED manual it's just a dial labeled "TWR".

+1 to all suggestions. Especially the kneeboard functions

The airbrake is able to be momentary for me. There are three bindings required. "Airbrake" is momentary "Airbrake On" locks the switch into position "Airbrake Off" does what you expect it to

Yeah came here to make this thread. Really a phenomenal update. The control system rework for the F1 has made it fly like an absolute dream for me with a normal desktop joystick setup. The new ARTHUR special option is very immersive and a really smart solution to the "feedback problem" of desktop hardware. Really gets you into the jet and lets you feel some of the character of the plane that before was very hard to understand.

R530 family and its current greatest problem/s
gnomechild replied to MysteriousHonza's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think the point was that an R.530 shouldn't turn better than an R-73 lol. The r.530 is overperforming in some very significant ways and I hope the devs look over Honzas post and update the behaviors to bring it more in line with reality -
BRP/BRPS.250s, BME-330s and BR.250s on the CLB-4 centerline rack
gnomechild replied to snocc_'s topic in DCS: Mirage F1
I'd love to see this change. Not being able to quad rack the BRs is sad for my Spanish LARP -
Real-Life HOTAS mapping for F1CE...
gnomechild replied to SidDogg's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Yes absolutely. Unless the equipment is known to be the same (like the sight/hud) I just assume it's a general guide. Like you said we've already seen several very significant differences. -
Norm/Snap should all be plane side. AFAIK all it does is change the interceptor turn director logic

Real-Life HOTAS mapping for F1CE...
gnomechild replied to SidDogg's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
The "rapid gun cancel button" is in the wrong place on this F1ED but the controls on the radar stick are correct -
All Mirage F1s should be capable of using the Super 530F. I can't imagine any changes done to the radar for the F1M would remove that functionality. You can even see in our F1CE cockpit a little switch for the altitude difference mode which is only functional for Super 530F missiles. Switch #19 in this photo

Can the F1 carry and use A/A and A/G weapons unlike the M2000?
gnomechild replied to julianqwerty's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
The Super 530F is coming. It's listed on the WIP items for the module and in lots of other places -
fixed ILS Self Test - Needles move to incorrect position.
gnomechild replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Bugs and Problems
Do you have the omnibearing selector switch in the ILS position? -
Where on the HUD are wingtip missiles aimed at?
gnomechild replied to Archi's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Yep. All the missiles are boresighted to 0 FRL. Aka, top of the glass -
The new PAD Single FARPs cannot support aircraft. Not sure when these were added, I think 2.8. But these are great assets that have been very needed. They would be perfect for constructing roadbases. I hope they can be fixed so their collision geometry allows planes to roll over them better than whatever surface is beneath them. Attached photos. Works for helos but not planes

New HUD Ranging display and HUD symbology on lock
gnomechild replied to 3000 Black Jets of Allah's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Apparently this happens if you flick the radar into standby instead of on. The standby mode is currently not implemented and works (mostly apparently) the same as On for A/A modes. But some people are reporting not seeing a box. Always click it twice to the full on position -

F-14 v2.8 - Jamming, JESTER, and Headless Bodies!
gnomechild replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
This is a very level headed and, in my opinion the correct, take. As much as the core logic is / isn't realistic, DCS modules don't exist in a vacuum. The reality is the AWG-9 like any radar can be jammed and it has some cool functions to circumvent that jamming. 3rd parties don't get to decide how "jamming" works in the DCS universe but it's better to live in the sim than to just pretend it isn't there. Plus, the updates look awesome. I'm gonna have to finally learn how to work the back seat. I'm missing out on too much cool <profanity> uh . stuff. didn't know there was a profanity filter lmao -
Possible to switch to Fox 2 while guiding a Fox 1 ?
gnomechild replied to cmbaviator's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
You can hit the C + SW switch while guiding an R.530 with no worries. Your radar will keep lock and continue guiding the missile -
It's a copy of an F1CZ flight manual. You can find them readily online

You're correct about GM and Sec. CM = "cap magnétique" "Magnetic heading" in English. So in this mode the gyro isn't used by the magnetic monitoring unit to generate heading information for the various systems.

fixed Sidewinders on Tip Stations placed too far aft
gnomechild replied to Bremspropeller's topic in Bugs and Problems
Bumping this. Seems like an easy fix and it's bothering me lol -
Whatever you do Reflected, we know it'll be high quality and tons of fun! Thanks for the update
