Hi Taz, Looks like it could have been Bartheks terrain mod as he has just released a new version for the latest 2.8 beta so I'll give that a whirl first. As you say your mod shouldn't touch the Hangers, looks like I jumped to conclusions and made the wrong diagnoses. Sorry

When installing the tree mod into the latest version of the open beta it seems to be having issues with hangers, the textures show the camo "missing textures" when uninstalling the hanger textures return after running a repair. This is on the caucuses map. anything I can do to stop this happening?

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
RuskyV replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Good point, I'll check it later -
We have temporary removed the Harrier from our dedicated servers for similar issues as it actually crashes the server. We are also investigating smoke pods as there are rumours these also now effect stability when used.

This has been an issue for a while, it’s the path finding calculations having to be done by each unit when navigating terrain.. DCS has to track every unit moving in the sim regardless of whether you see it or not. No player bubble is used everything gets calculated even if 400 miles across a map. Add smoke and fancy new lighting into that mix for your CPU to grind through, small tolerances or margins left to play with really….

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
RuskyV replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Yes, I have cockpit reflections disabled as a personal preference. Although I have noticed that the option seems to have no impact on the cockpit instruments, especially the warbirds with the traditional dials. -
It’s seems that any surface capable of reflecting light has an impact on fps, be it reflections off solid surfaces or from smoke..

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
RuskyV replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
In VR I’ve noticed that stuttering and high frame times comes from within the cockpit when looking out through the glass reflections. In the F2 view looking at the aircraft from the outside the frames times completely smooth out. While in external views and moving around scenery there is very little impact on frame time or FPS. It seems that reflections and external lighting impacting the cockpit see’s the biggest drop in performance. The trees also seem to have a really weird shine to them when in direct sunlight, when observed through cockpit glass also sees a hit in FPS. Opening and closing the cockpit while looking at any object that is reflecting has a fairly large impact on the Stuttering. there must be an issue somewhere with lighting reflections.. -
I have the same issues with the rift-s, most of the time the view will jump outside the cockpit and be facing backwards, might happen once or twice during a multiplayer session of 1hr or longer.

While in the Apache my fps seems to be stuck at 20fps in vr. If I go to any other aircraft using F2 then I hit a constant 40 fps. It seems when near or sat in the apache my frames immediately cap. i have no clue how to fix this, so performance in VR for me is quite terrible

Set your gunsight to 33ft for wingspan and and 1100ft for distance, the guns are harmonised to converge around 1200ft, this should get you in the ball park assuming you haven’t already done this. hope this helps.

When cold starting the F16 could we have the chocks in as default? Might help in some situations where people have alignment issues where the jet has moved a small amount either by rearmament or a cracked open throttle rolling the jet forward.

How to correctly set the TGP to look at an FCR target?
RuskyV replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
CZ or cursor zero button on the TGP should remove any slew errors, you don’t have to have the pod as the sensor of interest for the button to function. give it a go and see if that works. -
@=617= Evil Leave the curve and play with the -Y saturation, defaults will be 100 percent so start by taking just 1 or 2 percent away for the role. Do the same for the pitch using -Y saturation, this time you can afford to use a little more however don’t go lower than 78%. Using curves are great for analog controlled jets and choppers, anything FBW you want a default linear curve and only play with just a few percent on the -Y saturation. I would avoid adjusting saturation and linearity both together. hope this helps.

With the new weather now being variable at airfields and the possibility that you could be landing in different conditions to which you took off from, I think an ATIS function should be screaming out be added. Either a sub option under the current airfield frequency menu or a separate frequency channel for ATIS. Having more frequencies would be more work however this would also be the more realistic way of adding in ATIS. Make sure to randomise voice actors too...

The trimmer switch on the stick could do with being a little slower or less sensitive allowing for finer amounts of adjustments. When pressing the trim the actuation is a little faster than some of the other jets makes trimming a little less precise. I don’t think this is anything to do with the flight model Itself but more to do with how the trim is working with this module. A little slower and more precise.

Cockpit reflections & taxi drift
RuskyV replied to Thelma Viaduct's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
@BIGNEWY Any idea if this has been reported to developers? -
If you have a two stage trigger make sure you push past the first stage so it registers only the second stage. What might be happening is both stages are being mapped to the same button. Could be causing the issue?

Takes me only a few seconds to set up pages while waiting for the INS to align. You wouldn’t be saving yourself any time..

I’ve noticed with the latest patch that this is still present when rolling to the left. Loadout was: lantern pod fitted x6 mk82s x2 AIM120c x2 AIM9x ECM pod centrally mounted x2 external fuel tanks Once all ordinance expended and external fuel empty, the downwards pitch was still present while rolling left. Rolling left and right quickly sees the pitch drop 2 or 3 degrees every time. I didn’t create a track as it was too big. if I have time I’ll see if I can add later.

If you do the procedure mentioned above from the outside the motor backfires, well that’s what it sound like anyway…

Trimming the Aircraft with Targeting Pod Mounted
RuskyV replied to brucewhf's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
The speed at which the trim moves is the biggest issue for me, if the HAT button was slower to trim you could get better control over it. -

Cockpit reflections & taxi drift
RuskyV replied to Thelma Viaduct's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I see this too, normally having to correct for it pulling left. I now taxi dragging the brakes with a little power on to keep it straight.
