  1. There are many possible issues with your setup. The Helios to DCS connection must work. The keybindings must be done correctly. It is next to impossible to guess where your problem lies. Ikarus is a crude attempt at duplicating what Helios does and I would hesitate to recommend it. However, you might give it a shot just to see if you can overcome your issues. You can always switch back to Helios at a later date.
  2. Apparently you haven't looked at the wish list. This idea/issue has been brought up many, many times.
  3. Since the current maps do not appear to be built on a spherical model, using them in a spherical world would not work at all. I doubt ED is going to rebuild all of the existing maps to make this happen.
  4. Always the best course. You might get two sets to work together but not 100% of the time.
  5. Unfortunately, that is the most viable option. You might gain a tiny bit with a newer GPU but the rest of the system will be holding you back.
  6. No.
  7. Rather useless when most of the aircraft in the sim are land based and the current carriers are not very useful or well done.
  8. That is fine for the servers. However, a vast majority of players do not use those servers so the opinion of the server operators is not a significant factor.
  9. Since you won't be buying anymore computer games, because they don't have printed manuals, the point is rather moot.
  10. No. It is hard coded somewhere.
  11. Thanks for the advice. I like to think that I can have an open mind about this but a reminder never hurts. I would rep you but...
  12. The flight rig has the Rift sensors but I had planned on disconnecting them when testing the Samsung.
  13. Well, there are two n's in planning. ;) That would be a start.
  14. An SSD has been my standard primary drive since 2012. The only spinner's that I currently use are 2TB (WD Caviar Black) data drives in my various machines and the storage drives in my household Synology NAS boxes which are used for multimedia streaming and backups. Laptops purchased with mechanical drives had their primary disk replaced immediately.
  15. Given the access that Nick has, I am curious about what aircraft he chooses, whether it be a warbird or not, when he just wants to enjoy flying.
  16. No onboard bluetooth but the dongle that is currently in use is not compatible though it works great with my AfterShokz Trekz headphones. Luckily, I already have an unused, but compatible, dongle. Video cable length is going to be the biggest hassle with that rig. Again, my stock of cables and adapters/gender menders should be sufficient to overcome that obstacle. I have a very well stocked excess hardware supply. I may do room scale on the non-flight rig but the flight rig uses a VolairSim pit and it is not something that you can just stand up in front of as you could with a regular chair.
  17. I am looking forward to it. The reviews are good and my non-flight rig is in a location that makes the sensors, required by the rift, nearly impossible. Unfortunately, that rig is in a corner 12 feet away from where I sit and needs a USB card installed along with a different Bluetooth solution. Nothing is ever simple. :)
  18. It will probably be a few days to a week before I test with DCS. I have lots on my plate right now including my income tax prep (which is a bit of a pain in the ass). Yes, I do wait until the last minute since I usually owe something. :)
  19. I use it in a limited fashion but as an investment it is fabulous.
  20. Looks interesting. Details, source, hardware requirements/compatibility?
  21. It's good stuff and I can't identify it through any means so I am guessing it is an original, though not from the usual suspects.
  22. Nope. If it went the other way it would be too far away, at max deflection, for anyone except people with very long arms. If it hits your chair then the chair is where the design flaw exists. Take a look at a real A-10 cockpit, for example.
  23. Thanks for the clarifications Snoopy. After all these years I still enjoy seeing the comparison of those who think they know something with those who actually do.
  24. My Saitek hardware predates Logitech owning them but I found it to be adequate, for the price. I still have an X-56, X-65 and a set of their combat pedals (I don't use them but I still have them) and my first DCS joystick was an X-52 (sold when I got my Warthog).
  25. Interesting. I already have an Oculus DK1 & CV1. My Odyssey will be here tomorrow. I actually got it to use with my non-flight gaming rig but will be trying it with the flight rig as well.
