As a rule of thumb, use the gun only against light armoured or unarmored vehicles, and leave mavericks and bombs for the MBT. As it has been said many many times, that you could do something doesn't mean you should do something.

I use a simple rule. When I Fence In, I switch the HSI for the SA. When I fence out, I do the opposite. It works for me.

How to get height above ground when over 5,000ft barometric?
Eviscerador replied to imacken's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
IIRC nellis airbase is at around 1800 ft. That is around 28.20 on a sunny day. Of course if you have a low pressure front that's another story. -

You can set QFE on your altimeter in NEVADA and work with Nellis altitude as zero to ease your calculations. Once the TGP comes, you will be able to read the GPS altitude of the designated point on there, like on the A10C. Other than that, use the F10 map and do the math. -
Well, after trying several times I'm asking for help here because I don't know how are you supposed to survive this mission. Spoilers ahead: Thank you for your help.

I have. The tyres are really big. You have plenty of manuals and drawings in the internet to check the size. I don't know which are your graphic settings but the current mustang after the reworks looks better than most DCS modules with the only exceptions of the Hornet and the Tomcat. I never saw a mustang firing though, but I like the gun flash, I don't think it is arcadish.

MISSIONS Practice Bug F/A-18C AGM-65E Practice w/JTAC
Eviscerador replied to JUICE-AWG's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Aside from that small detail (which by the way is still not fixed) the JTAC only gives you laser mark for one target and then switches off. You have 4 Mavs, 2 Laser and 2 IR, but you can only launch one laser due to that. Al you have to do is clone the target designate option for another target. -
In RL take off and landings with cross wind, a small wing down trim into the crosswind is required (most of the time) I don't know why it is (I'm not a pilot) but a friend of mine is and when I asked him for a crosswind procedure, he told me they always have to apply a bit of wing down to the wind in the A320 when taking off on crosswind. Now on the OP problem with the Mustang, as long as you have prop traction, you will always have a bit of slip, and the mustang is famous for being very nervous on the changes of throttle. I usually use direct rudder on take off and landings to counter the small adjustments on throttle. Trim is not fast enough.

They do. I refunded one of the Maple Flag campaigns because it was not compatible with the stand alone version (before we had the current steam license transfers) Sent a ticket and had the refund in minutes. No problem.

This was a lovely mission! After reading so many opinions in the forum I prepared the mission almost like a proper pilot would do. I printed the map, the notes, got myself a board with a water pen for taking notes on the fly, got everything set on start and when the flares went up I had everything ready for the strike! I made all the points on time or at least inside the allowed bracket, because I completed the mission without incidences (aside from small arms fire over the airfield) My tip for anyone trying to complete the mission is to have a mobile phone chronograph on your side and just keep a tad more speed than recommended. Once you arrive at the red smoke, brake if you need to adjust your ToT. By the way, I think I punctured the fuel tanks around the bomber since it blew up nicely with a few MG shots! It should have been more "realistic" with the use of HVAR rockets. Loving the campaign so far. It is incredible how natural it feels to use an old aircraft in a modern small scale conflict, and the little quantity of "handwavium" needed to do so. Props to the maker!

It happens with all the old Sabre custom skins. They changed the template and any skin made with the old one will have that problem. I hope he changes it someday.

I find the aircraft more responsive in the latest patch. Dunno if they fiddled with the ordenance drag index or increased the available power. But the hog feels more alive than ever. Once again, it is just a gut feeling.

If you have problems hitting moving targets in a strafing run, I recommend you to align your strafe runs on the direction of movement of the target. That way you only have to aim a bit in front of target, but the gun dispersion will work on your favour (dispersion is mainly in the longitudinal fire axis) Takes a bit more of preparation, but it is worth the effort. The A10C also has a nice aid for attacking moving targets, but I don't think any other plane has it.

Same here, but in mission 5. Also I got this bug sometimes doing training missions. It is very annoying... It only happens with cockpit sounds, once you get to external views, everything works. Radio chatter can be heard as well.

Case I Speed Management in Break/Downwind
Eviscerador replied to ESzczesniak's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Thank you sir! Now that I'm practicing this, my CASE I patterns are all smooth and on time. -
I use several templates for small, medium and big groups of infantry for that reason.

It seems to me that you lost generator power (maybe you took off too harshly and the engine RPM dropped) and the autopilot (dampener) is deactivated. With the dampeners active, the helo is a charm to fly.
-
To be honest I was using the scale as a poor man's rangefinder, like you do with the ranging radar in the Sabre but manually. I guess I will be more successful if I just set the scale to 1000 and wait the proper time to hit the fire button. I will surely give it a go this evening.
-
So for max gun convergence on the P51D should I set my Gyro scale to 1000 feet? That's nice to know. Thanks!
-
It is a plane with a military piston engine and direct control over all surfaces. The acceleration is instant with the proper engine and prop settings, and the response of the surface controls is almost aerobatic like. The P51D has the same performance if you don't use ordenance and only fill the wing fuel tanks. I never flew a real mustang, but I find that the FM on DCS is as I would expect from a warbird.
-
I think one guy around who is an actual Hog ground crew chief said that the only problem with the inner missiles is that they damage the paint and the anti corrosive treatment of the wing, so after each mission where the third missile is shot, the crew have to check and repair the surface treatment. Also, there are few current scenarios where that kind of load is needed. Having less missiles reduce fuel consumption and increases agility. Other than that, you are free to use whatever loadout you want. I usually get 2xMav 2xGBU 12 and 2x Mk82 or JDAM + 60% fuel. If you need more ordenance you need more planes or less objectives :megalol:

My most expensive module by far... feeling bad..
Eviscerador replied to Koriel's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thank you Wags. I will gladly pay for an upgrade. I just feared we had to buy a full new module. Now I'm fine. -

Eviscerador replied to Koriel's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Will the price for the paid upgrade have a discount for BS2 owners? I understand that you have bills to pay, but charging full 60$ to the bs2 owners feels like bad marketing. -
Sending impact notification to a single unit in a flight
Eviscerador replied to Eviscerador's topic in Mission Editor
Thank you man. Yeah we are already doing that, but it is a problem when using several flights with the same callsign, hence my question. -
Hi everybody. I'm currently building a training range in DCS and I'd like to know if it is possible to send hit messages to a single unit on a flight. As example: I have a flight with 4 F18 on Nellis, and I pick one of them randomly, go to the TTR and drop a bomb squarely on the Bomb bullseye. And I want a message popping to that unit alone so no other on the group can see it, it will be only for that plane. I know I can send a message to group, but I can't send a message to unit in with the default triggers. Any solution to this?
