M11 Technicals by mosque
baltic_dragon replied to sepruda's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
You can do this on the more difficult missions, and the dot-neutral works great - IMHO it is more realistic as you'll never get resolution on screen or in VR similar to what you'd get in real life. -
M03 The Summer House impossible 100%
baltic_dragon replied to Dovivan's topic in F/A-18C Arctic Thunder Campaign
Hm.. this sounds about right. The Score is calculated automatically by DCS and I have no control over it. The Result sounds fine to me (50 + 15 for APC with Maverick + 10 for tank + 10 for trucks + 5 for landing = 90). Looks like the second tank was not splashed? -
When you fly a mission in real life, you have to deal with the weather you have - I don't like to make things easier and always set up weather conditions that would help you to achieve your goals, sometimes it is better to sweat a little

Entering 8-digit grid coordinates
baltic_dragon replied to Kreutzberg's topic in F/A-18C Arctic Thunder Campaign
I am sorry guys. Sometimes I make things more difficult by mistake but in this case this is on purpose - there is no better way to learn than on one's own mistakes! -
discussion Litening II TGP Vs. ATFLIR
baltic_dragon replied to Muas's topic in F/A-18C Arctic Thunder Campaign
The Finnish Air Force does not use ATFLIR (I think only USN does) - hence the decision. I know I made some concessions to realism elsewhere (like giving the FAF Mavericks) but didn't want to go too far on that... I would recommend not to change anything on the load out, as that may have impact on the missions (for AA engagements the game "counts" number of expended missiles). -
Mission 4 - GBU-12 in CCIP (spoiler alert)
baltic_dragon replied to KENNY1988's topic in F/A-18C Arctic Thunder Campaign
Well, as a wingman you have to follow the calls made by your flight lead which are not always perfect. I made a conscious decision here having in mind that the Finnish Air Force didn't really use or practice too much A/G with some of the weapons before, and hence some mistakes could me made. So I disagree with @Dovivan about things becoming too dramatic at the expense of realism in this scenario, but of course I also may be wrong at the end of the day. Also, the mission won't judge you how you choose do deploy. Another side note is that the weather tend to change sometimes a little between updates and I am pretty sure when I was building this one things looked a bit different (it was more difficult to see the targets). -
M06 - Missing Man - Мost buggy mission
baltic_dragon replied to big_fun's topic in F/A-18C Raven One Campaign
Hey ! Those guys are a workaround to make sure player does not spawn in the first row.. and since they appear only for 1 second, I made sure they have a cool livery. And you should have it too, it is included with the campaign! I am pretty sure I fixed the issue with the script pop-up (something quietly changed in the core DCS and these started to pop-up years after campaign release). But I'll check it. Ad.3. LOL.. but if I am not mistaken, Clam is supposed to do that - that is what the missing man is all about, isn't it? -
Raven One - Mission 12 Alert 7 - Observations
baltic_dragon replied to BunnyKeeper's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hey. Thanks for your kind words! As for your observations: Ad.1. That shouldn't be happening, we will check. Ad.2. They are there, and them showing or not on SA page is a DCS thing... sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't, but mission - wise all is set up as it should and I have very little control over SA... Ad.3. The datalink is somehow bugged currently, and again - all the missions are set in the same way, but in some wingman will be visible, in others not. This is a core DCS issue and I have no idea how to fix it (and I spent a lot of time trying)... Ad.4. See 3 and 4 Sorry I can't help more, it is as annoying (or more!) for me as it is for the players I guess. -
M5 issues with deck crew and chocks off
baltic_dragon replied to OLD CROW's topic in Bugs & Problems
Try to follow the following procedure, it works in most cases (I don't understand why it was never clearly explained by ED how the taxi directors work): 1. Battery and APU on 2. Salute for engine start up (deck crew raises arm) 3. Finish Starting Up 4. Wait for the on screen pop up that says I can start taxiing OR as per the mission brief - Designer Notes at the end 5. Salute Again for taxi clearance 6. Follow Taxi director orders -
Hey! I am aware of the problem, I found a nice solution with green letters, but it takes time to replace all the prompts (especially that Mission Editor sometimes does not recognize the new files and it forces me to re-do a lot of triggers from scratch). As for the procedure, it is indeed in the M1 - which some people might miss if they are further down the line in the campaign. nullHere is the file with procedure.

Mission 4 tips
baltic_dragon replied to Jasonmoofang's topic in F/A-18C Raven One: Dominant Fury campaign
Not sure, unfortunately things tend to go wrong with new taxi directors sometimes.. it shouldn't get stuck, but just wait for the indication that you can taxi and follow the procedure and you should be fine: 1. Follow Taxi director orders -
investigating Mission 5 - Carrier Crew Taxi
baltic_dragon replied to MrYeti's topic in F/A-18C Raven One: Dominant Fury campaign
OK, thanks. We'll check this - but I had this report twice already and it turned out to be a user error in both cases on player's end. Have you followed the proper procedure @Doc-T @div0 @MrYeti? 1. Follow Taxi director orders Also, make sure you disable any unofficial 3rd party mods, as well as Voice Attack or Vaicom - they can have adverse effects on official campaigns. -
@Padre Pio thanks for your kind words! Though the problem does not seem like an issue with the campaign itself, but rather a DCS - thing if I am not mistaken. My advice is to boresight the missiles while still on the ground, they should work perfectly when this is done.

@simon111 Well, if you have mods installed it is almost certain that DLC campaigns won't work as intended for you - that is why I mention it in the intro mission. Out of curiosity, what mods do you have installed?

Experience about mission 7
baltic_dragon replied to simon111's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
Hey! I hope this gets fixed on DCS level - I don't want to change the weather, because I would have to change a lot of things in the campaign since the whole strike is built around dropping bombs from above the cloud layer... so yeah, we need to live with it as is and hope for ED to fix this one! -
I wanted to include some kind of a surprise in M1 to make things more interesting...

M11 Technicals by mosque
baltic_dragon replied to sepruda's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
Hey! I tried to write a talk-on, but in such a dense urban environment it ultimately made no sense, as it didn't really help. The important part here is good situational awareness - once you see Habu at mission start you should be tracking him on your TPod, which helps. There is also only one large mosque next to where the action takes place. Finally, you can always turn the labels on to help with spotting (I am usually using neutral dots not to make things too easy, but you will never get the image quality that could rival what you'd see from the pit in real life). Also, it is almost impossible to add talk-on options etc to all the engagements in all the missions due to the sheer number of triggers, extra voice lines etc... unfortunately, there are some DCS limitations. I understand your frustration, but that is the nature of DCS I guess, sometimes you just need to fly a mission more than once to get max out of it. -
Unfortunately, that is no longer possible. It used to be like that before recent changes to radio messages by ED - after the change, the static effects on the radio are linked to the subtitle length and not the sound file length, and keeping the longer subtitles create a lot of noise. This is something we pointed out to ED many times but it was never fixed, forcing us to match the subtitle time to voice line... Now there are two ways around it: Open Kneeboard is a great tool. You can also open the menu and look at the dialogue log to see everything displayed there while the game is paused. Hope this helps!

Mission 7 scoring
baltic_dragon replied to Jasonmoofang's topic in F/A-18C Raven One: Dominant Fury campaign
I think it all depends on timing, if you take too long setting up for the strafing run then the helo gets too close to the fleet IIRC.. not exactly sure now how it worked but for sure there was window of opportunity for the player to shoot the helo down. If not, it may be a bug. I'll mark it up for checking, but with rather low priority, DCS updates produce much more important bugs that require my constant attention... (sigh) -
Raven One - Mission 6 - Script Error window
baltic_dragon replied to BunnyKeeper's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hey, sorry for late reply - that was fixed in last update. -
Exxon will never be on tanker menu, because we don't have such callsign in DCS. I am limited to 3 tanker callsigns, but wanted to stay true to the novel with all the naming, but you have to use Arco (or Texaco, can't remember now).
