Oh goodness this is such a brilliantly written topic. Nice one MeerCaT.:thumbup: I really hope that ED as part of their 2020 focus on core elements within the DCS World look to address this issue. The more ED can do to improve the DCS World itself and make it more immersive and real the better it will be. All these wonderful modules with high levels of fidelity and great cockpits yet they reside in a world that leaves something to be desired.

Some tasty new map content to look forward to in 2020. Looking good guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And less than 100%. :D:D

+1 I would also like clarification on this.

That's where my money and hope is. The most iconic western attack helicopter of the last 4 decades. And I would be more than happy with the A variant.

I really do hope so.

!!! THE BIRDS are jealous !!! The BO-105 will taste the air of DCS
Konovalov replied to The_Fragger's topic in MilTech-5
I am guessing but I think we will see ED's Hind out in EA and perhaps the OH-58 from Polychop. We should at least get one helo in 2020. I would be shocked if that does not come to fruition. -
Nice. Good luck working on the pilot model.

I've learnt to temper in a major way my expectations. The ED comment that Razbam are "hard at work" is vague. Perhaps the 3d modeller/modellers are hard at work with the 3d design, animations of moving parts and surfaces external and of course internal with the cockpit. What I do know is that Razbam are on the record many times over the last two or three months of stating that they intend to complete both the M2K and Harrier in 2020 before releasing any further modules. I intend to hold them to that by not purchasing any further future modules or indeed the current early access Mig-19. Sure I'd love the Mig-23 and the F-15E some time soon but I am more than happy to see them some time in 2021. For me my expectations for 2020 are fundamental progress and improvements on the core of DCS World by ED along with many modules being brought out of early access and/or completed by both ED and 3rd party developers such as Razbam and Polychop.

Forget that in 2020. I'd just be happy with a proper working Tarawa this year without the stupid AI driving up my backside on the deck as I start up along with being to use it in multiplayer. It has been effectively dysfunctional for 1-2 years. All I am asking from ED and Razbam is for the ability to use the Harrier on the Tarawa as it should be.

Updated manual and other goodies from Baltic Dragon
Konovalov replied to baltic_dragon's topic in RAZBAM
Nice. Thanks Baltic Dragon for your fantastic missions and also with the work you are doing on updating the Razbam flight manuals for the M2K and also of course the Harrier. :) -
For me right now this is my single largest gripe with DCS World in that the core features are lacking or have felt neglected and appear left behind while we get more and more modules arriving. I for one am very grateful that ED have over 50% of their team focussing on core features of the DCS World. I hope that the focus on this in 2020 will result in a more immersive and satisfying experience flying within DCS World.

I'm going to go against the grain on this one. My view is that part of the beauty of the AV-8B II N/A is that it really has a specific ground attack role being CAS, CSAR, BAI, and AFAC. There are plenty of other high fidelity modules in DCS that can do it all such as the Hornet and Viper. Do we really need another jack of all trades aircraft to come into an already crowded type of module field? I don't think so. Besides given Razbam already have a long list of other modules to follow after completing the existing three I doubt those wishing for a Plus variant of the Harrier will see it any time soon if at all.
-
Not to worry. I'm just glad that progress on the Harrier is coming.
-
Oh my goodness, really? In the words of John McEnroe, "You can't be serious?" So the below statement from Razbam is in your eyes nothing more than wilful deception or at the very least worded deliberately to provide wriggle room for them to get out of any deadline or to move the goalposts with regards to customer expectations? If so then I am sorry but I can only conclude that you are not approaching this in a fair minded manner. From the below statement of Razbam it is abundantly clear to me that they are dedicated to completing the existing three modules before commencing coding of new ones. And to me it is crystal clear that the word existing used by Razbam relates to modules that exist currently within the DCS World that are available to purchase by the public in either an early access or non-EA state.
-
Really, are you sure of this? I was not aware that Razbam or ED had said that the Mig-23 and the F-15E will be arriving into DCS World some time in 2020. I do recall ED stating in the New Years newsletter: and In the following weeks newsletter ED mentioned they had forgotten to include the Mig-23 in the prior news. In any case I am just happy that the BO-105 will be coming to DCS. But its not a free pass from me. Razbam I know have been clear in stating that their focus is on completing the Harrier and M2k by the end of 2020. And I am going to hold them to that by not pre-purchasing any further Razbam modules including the already released Mig-19. I have faith that Razbam are working on and will complete the Harrier and M2k this year. Hopefully also Razbam will push ED to implement other features also into DCS World like the ability to plan in the mission editor to allow the Harrier to re-arm and re-fuel from non-FARP areas such as roadsides. Perhaps at the end of 2020 things in DCS will be a not be as rough as they were in 2019.
-
Good news. Looking forward to all the rough edges on the Harrier being smoothed out and being able to fly a feature complete glorious AV-8B N/A Harrier later in 2020.
-
I'm so glad that ED are placing a lot of focus on improving clouds and weather more generally along with other "core DCS World" features. All the planes and helos in the world are great but if the environment you fly in feels and looks dated, stale and artificial then the whole flying experience is just not as rewarding as it once was many years ago. So fingers crossed 2020 will see some major leaps and improvements to the DCS core world. :)

DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build!
Konovalov replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Given your title is DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build I would suggest holding off until around the middle of this year when Nvidia hopefully release their 3000 series Ampere GPU's and also AMD have their higher performing rivals out. The Nvidia current Turing based 2xxx series cards while great performing but expensive didn't have the leap in performance that the older Pascal 1xxx series cards did and for that reason I have hanged tight with my GTX 1070 card. My hope is that the Nvidia Ampere will bring about a 20-30% improvement over current 2xxx series while also AMD have some GPU's which can at least compete with the Nvidia top offering cards brining with it perhaps a little bit more value. Given that your PC is primarily for gaming I presume including DCS I would try to spend around 30-40% of your budget on the GPU alone. On the CPU front I would go AMD personally now instead of Intel but having said that I would just make sure that your rig has minimum 6 cores 12 threads. -
It's like an episode of a tv program on constant repeat. ;)
-
Razbam have said that they are completely redoing all the Harrier sounds so perhaps this will be part of the sound overhaul.

looking for flight stick and throttle
Konovalov replied to thrustvector's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I still own an X52 Pro which was made back in the old Saitek days. Still works acceptably. Sure it doesn't compete with the Thrusty Warthog or the VKB and Virpil kit however it is half or less of the price of those types of higher end HOTAS gear. So I would look at either the Logitech X52 Pro or the Thrustmaster 1600m HOTAS system. -
I went with my new build a couple of years ago with 32GB RAM 3200Mhz (2x16GB kit). Before this my system, had 12GB RAM which struggled with big missions/multiplayer. If I were just playing mainstream AAA titles then I would say 16GB system RAM is fine however for DCS I would recommend 32GB total system RAM as optimal for DCS. That is what I would decide today and moving forward.

Positive news and hopefully that will mean the BO-105 will fly in DCS World in 2021 or 2022. -
Thanks. Hopefully this will slow down the hype train. :)
