  1. AFAIK, there's not too much on the F-117 that's actually classified, outside of the stealth stuff and likely its sensor suite. Dont' forget it is basically a cobbled together bucket of known parts taken from other airframes in US inventory at the time under a fancy wedge shaped skin. Obviously flight characteristics would be difficult, even with the engines and shape being well documented (so could CFD some of it), as that'll be under wraps and it'll probably be quite hard finding an ex pilot, or even just SME's for that matter. That all said, I'd fly it once or twice for fun because it's an _interesting_ airplane, but then I'd likely hardly ever use it. It is boring if you're flying it properly according to pilot reports, literally just flying waypoints until you reach bomb deploy and drop the 2(!) bombs it carries. Then fly home. And considering a full DCS level aircraft takes at least 18 months, more like 2-3 years of development, I can think of many more airplanes I'd rather see made first.
  2. Have you tried deleting your user profile? Find it in C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\DCS (or DCS.openbeta) If it's not saving any settings, something in there might have got set to read only or something is conflicting. Obviously make a back up first.
  3. If you want to move computer, yeah. Just move the entire DCS folder and run the updater. You might need to run the installer first to make it register with Windows, but that's it. The Updater does a check to see what files are present and need updating. FWIW, if you ever look really closely at fresh install, it actually just installs the updater (+ a few other bits) and then runs that. Or at least that's how it used to work a couple of years ago.
  4. Yeah, echoing everyone here. Pretty poor thread. Should be nuked.
  5. Hoggit exists on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/ There's a few other sites related to it, but the main shabang is the subreddit.
  6. Exactly what SharpeXB said. Unless you have deep pockets and can take the risk, it just isn't worth it financially. Don't forget that flight sims are a niche market anyway, which makes it even harder. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see DCS on linux, but I'm realist, it won't happen. Probably can't happen without ED rebuilding the engine too.
  7. Easy, people can tell because things like the Steam Hardware Survey exist. It's pretty easy to look at the user count who use linux and weigh up if the sales of a linux version would recoup the money you spend on developing said linux version. The answer is generally: no, it's not worth it. If you're developing a new game from scratch, and you architect your code from the outset to be platform agonstic, so get a linux version for minimal effort, then it might be worth it. Unlikely though as support has a cost too.
  8. No-one really makes FFB sticks currently due to patent issues pushing the cost up to the level its not profitable. Ergo, very few people have one as they're getting quite rare. That said, I think most of the patents have actually just expired as of yesterday: (1 - MS), (2 - Immersion), (3 - Immersion). So we might start seeing them come to market. (for history, Immersion own most of the patents, MS got sued but settled and bought a stake in Immersion many years ago, granting them some of the patents) Flip side, with non-ffb hotas units already being easily $200+, and higher quality one being ~$400-500, it might not be profitable for manufacturers due to the small market demand, so we definitely won't see a glut of them.
  9. As an fyi, the NDA isn't just for the SDK. It includes such things as direct support from ED, access to the internal bugtracker, access to dev builds, debug tools, docs etc... Honestly, having what's essentially the equivalent of paid support can be a godsend when you run up against a brick wall when you're programming something against an API. Not having it means you can be in for very bad times, even with good docs.
  10. Maybe it's simply to pressurise the fuel lines? I'm sure someone more enterprising than myself today could go find the engine manual and have a look...
  11. Have you deleted the metashaders2 and fxo folders in Saved Games/DCS ? Often has quite the effect.
  12. It was a poor choice imo. It has a lot of connotations here in the UK and in Ireland, it's very much an anti-violence song. I found it to be quite jarring, clearly chosen for the one line. However, unfortunately it's one of those songs which the wider world knows well, but without the history or meaning, so I can't exactly point the finger of blame for choosing a good song. Sort of like how GreenDay's "Good Riddence/Time of your life" often gets played at weddings... And a cover version too? Erugh. Still, it's just one video for a 2020 trailer, I don't actually care enough to be demanding change or removal, just maybe a little bit more research into the choice of songs for future videos.
  13. It's you. They're your videos. Don't try and say otherwise. The Kiwi accent happens to be a dead giveaway, but that's the icing on the cake, everything else points to it.
  14. That's not how burden of proof works. Your own video does not count as a source. Can you share a source of the information you learnt in order to make the video?
  15. Your own video isn't a source. What is your source for this info?
  16. Did you not even read what drPhibes wrote? Nowhere in his post does he say Plutonium becomes inert after 88 years. Nothing close as a matter of fact. Also, where are you getting the figure of Plutonium outputting 4000 degrees C in heat? It melts at ~640 degrees C.
  17. This...isn't new. It's a nuclear thermal rocket: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_thermal_rocket Seriously, it's an idea that's been tested since the mid 50's.
  18. It's not, and it's not the missile's fault or the fault of HB. The only solution is to limit it in MP. Ideally via airfield stores rather than limiting F-14 usage. That's down to the mission designer and ED improving the stores management part of the mission editor.
  19. Replicate the same mods folder structure. DCS treats things in Saved Games as overrides. I'm curious though, which files are you actually editing? Depending on the one, you can just create .diff.lua files (exactly like DCS does) in the correct places in 'Saved Games/DCS/Config/Input/[module]/' if you're just tweaking the actual input lua files.
  20. Would be quite nice to have the 'User Files' section of the main site integrated into DCS itself for missions & skins.
  21. ED have said they're doing a whole bunch of new guidence modelling as well as missile FM tweaks. Pretty sure rolling it out for just one initially is a pretty sensible idea, so the changes can be actually verified in isolation.
  22. If we're talking about what the Bis can do and what it can possibly do, can we talk about what it definitely can't? There's a certain radar guided missile currently available which physically cannot work with the radar in the Bis. It'd be good to see that removed if you're going to revisit the weapons.
  23. They should be removed. They were okay when there was only a few modules, now there's loads, it's pretty pointless.
