  1. Release plans/estimates longer than 1-2 months in advance are irrelevant and can be safely ignored because as history of DCS shows, they're pretty much never met, either by ED themselves, or by 3rd parties. So that Happy New Year quote from 2022 is pointless really. New "teaser" details, however, are always interesting insight into future plans of the developer. I can also see how people are more excited about Su-17, as it's the only aircraft from Octopus-G lineup which makes sense in current form of DCS. Mind you, I understand the Russian warbirds are Plexus' labour of love and clearly there's tons of highest quality effort put in them, but even though I'm a warbird enthusiast myself, I'm pretty sure "Fitter" module will outsell all his warbird modules combined.
  2. Marketing gag or not, for some players it did bump framerate enough NOT to have to buy next overpriced NV cards anytime soon and that in itself makes it worth it. But, as "there's no free lunch", some visual degradation is always a price to pay. It's all subjective - for some guys it's OK to play at 30-few fps as long as eyecandy is up. I don't understand it but hey, you do you. Just like i don't understand folks who just MUST have 120+ fps and are willing to settle for compromised visuals to get there. But it's their personal preference so - none of my business in the end. I don't use DLSS (yet), 'cause I'm still keeping my head above the 60-surface in simple missions. Will see how it goes once I start playing Reflected's campaigns. I did embrace DLAA, however, which finally killed everlasting shimmering in DCS once and for all, while not sinking my framerate like MSAA did.
  3. If N2 is in your purchased items list (and is listed as installed in the module manager) then I'd say you already have it. Not at my PC at the moment so don't remember how exactly my licenses are shown. To make sure in the fastest way, just launch any mission on the map, keep hitting F11 free camera key until you're teleported to Paris-Orly airbase and then "fly" the camera to Paris. If the city has high detail buildings and streets (high resolution textures as seen on promo videos), then you've got Normandy 2 active proper. If the detail is crap, however, then you're still on half-updated 1944 edition.
  4. A bit of a New Year bump for this one, because Nineline seems to be taking a look across the -47 forum section .
  5. Even though Glowing used some new tracer, explosion effects and whatnot in this video (after all it WAS supposed to be a demonstrator of things to come), the fastest and easiest way to pimp up the visuals in any version of DCS (as actually shown in half of sequences in every friggin' promo vid released for it ) has always been: a) adjust mission time to get the sun low'ish (DCS gfx engine responds very well to "golden hours"); b) add one of more polished/developed cloud presets. As you would do in any PC game really. That's it. Done.
  6. ^ Which is a good idea given the fact that we're getting Enterprise from ED (for the former) and one of Essex class from M3 (for the latter).
  7. Same here. But as it happened in 2022, I'm sure there's some info about it in non-premium sources as well.
  8. Keep in mind missions in scripted campaigns, multiplayer, even some training ones can and often do override your own realism/gameplay and special options. I don't know this campaign, but forced turbulence effects are the most plausible culprit.
  9. Damn right . Can't complain ;). Although I'm more of an oldschool guy and I'll still probably go for the -23, Fulcrum is going to be a milestone for DCS community, even if "only" in 9.12A version.
  10. At this point, either that Hayate was just a fancy background item thrown in to make the '22 wish postcard look cooler, or it is something in so rudimentary stages of development that it falls into "beyond" timefreame category . At least now AI Zero is officially a thing, though, and that's the most important aspect of the yesterday's video (in the context of PTO).
  11. How can one find out what new IDs should be on a clean new computer and fresh Windows without any new diff.luas at hand? Honest question, 'cause I'll be upgrading my PC in two years or so as well. Launching DCS and making one change per each controller would do the trick I guess, but that alone takes many minutes of clicking. Then googling around for some batch rename app and learning how to use it is extra 30 minutes at least.
  12. Keep in mind Mag3 guys are doing Essex class for their Corsair. So we'll get both eventually. And with Hellcat being a -3 variant, Enterprise is not a bad choice for faux-1943 scenarios, albeit without relevant maps for now.

    -3 or -5?

^ Apart from that, early type windscreen and windows behind canopy are dead giveaways. Yup, it's a -3, at least in that particular shot. But, with such small visual and flight model differences, we can always dream about both being implemented at some point (just like two Spits or three Jugs we've got right now).
  14. That still doesn't make your opinion relevant. If throughout 2023 they figured that standard US config was the only one they could and were legally allowed to eventually create with acceptable systems fidelity, then that's the only config we can get, at least for now. 3D models change and planned features change during development. Sometimes things are added, sometimes removed. "Everything is subject to change". I've seen it in warbird modules, so it's nothing unusual in DCS.
  15. They're fine here. Latest OB, MT mode. Screens below. If you're experiencing missing textures, do the usual troubleshooting: disabling mods, removal of fxo & metashaders, then repair & cleanup.
  16. It's not even remotely similar to Anton. But yes, multiple sequences throughout video show it's a Zero allright. The flyby at about 3:26 even shows which version exactly - 5c, albeit sporting inaccurate camo for the period . Looks like it's the one Rudel was working on for years as his private project, but now officially implemented. The only question is - will M3 (with ED?) try to turn it into flyable module in the future or if it's going to stay AI.
  17. They wrote on FB that they have access to a native speaker who they pass all the markings through. I guess the guy isn't native enough or he didn't really bother to do his job properly ;).
  18. It won't because USB IDs for your controllers will be different on new computer and thus it won't recognize old IDs contained in filenames from your copied backup. You can, however, just import old profiles one by one, in controls options window ("load profile" button or whatever it's called?). Will take you a few minutes total, certainly faster than re-binding from scratch. Been there done that when switching to new PC myself.
  19. Couldn't reproduce in Instant cold start mission at Caucasus, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on point of view ). Oh well, next time you encounter the issue on that map, try to save a replay then.
  20. I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you meant how to install custom liveries downloaded from User Files section of ED website? These should also go into Saved Games/DCS, but you need to manually create a new folder there, this time called "Liveries". That's where sub-folder with individual aircraft need to be created as well, and the skins have to be extracted into these. Any skinmakers worth a damn will (should?) provide readme file or instructions related to correct aircraft folder name, because spelling here is crucial. I don't own F-15E so can't help with this one.
  21. @Sydy I'd remove that email address if I were you. Although mods are doing their best to keep this forum clean, I've noticed spambots do pop-up occasionally here and some of them will search for visible emails.
  22. Never used either of these mods, so I don't know where the helmet pack should be extracted, but your folder tree for the Hercules mod appears to be correct. I've just downloaded it - screen below shows what you should see in Instant action menu now, with Caucasus missions as an example. If you can't see them, I suspect you either might have some mod trash/leftovers still kept in your main DCS folder (perform a repair & cleanup then), or one of the other mods, probably outdated, causes problems. The only way to tell is to remove all mods from Saved Games and test them again one by one. Trial and error method.
  23. Rgr that. OK, that's the exact mission I'll try then.
