  1. While I agree with you. And while the shaking and buffeting are in line with similar aircraft, ie the FC3 F-15, "the other team" offers an option to tune the shaking to the users liking on the Mig-21. I know your not "considering this at this time". But it's not hard to implementet. I've modified the file myself on other aircraft before. So maybe consider that we the user might know what we need and what we like as feedback from our virtual aircraft. Love you guys, thank you so much for making the Tomcat a reality. It is probably my favorite jet still.
  2. +1 to this. Laying the ground work for suppression would be an amazing thing.
  3. 44-46 is the era that's been simulated, so definitely want one from that era. I always loved it in other Sims for ground attack because of how stable it was with the counter rotating props and all. I would love to get a much better feel for it.
  4. Yeah l, the navel AI is in a really bad need of an upgrade. It really should be second only to the aircraft AI. It needs to "know" to turn to pursue, or attack a target. Oddly that behavior existed back in Lockon. It needs to know how to position itself where it's defensive armament can engage in incoming attack. Radar, weapons, and engines need to be able to be destroyed. Some newer ships have this for the weapons. And since subs can now dive and fire torpedoes. The destroyers and cruisers need to have some basic simplified ASW ability, and the ability to use torpedoes and other anti-submarine weapons. Also countermeasures are a thing. Ships use chaff screens to confuse radar. And big ass flares to blind IR seekers. All surface to air radars need to know to go silent when an ARM is inbound. It needs to be an advanced option like "dispersion under fire" and we should have some way of setting how long it stays silent. But a modern warship probably won't shut down it's radar as the odds of that harm getting through are minimal. So I would really like to see in order 1. Destroyable radars on ships 2. Sam sites including ships have the option to go silent when incoming harm is detected. 3. A surface warfare AI. Ships move to engage each other, know how to position themselves so they're defensive weapons can best defeat incoming attacks. 4. Ships get countermeasures, and know how to use them. 5. A simplified anti-submarine warfare environment. Also the carrier should know to turn into the wind when launching and recovering aircraft. I believe a major overhaul to the ship and surface AI is the most important element of DCs that needs to be updated now. Clouds are nice, but we need a semi-realistic and engaging combat environment to perform combat operations in.
  5. Definitely
  6. Ahh yes the mod on IL2. We are not going to talk about the hours that I spent on that thing. And yes dusk harassing attacks on allied bases would be oh so fun. Not to mention in a scenario where the luftwaffe didn't lose air superiority, because this is a game and the Germans don't always have to lose, it could really shine as a ground attacker. As mentioned above it has a lot of combinations of firepower. Fast attacks against tactical targets, and allied air bases would be an absolute blast. Not to mention dive bombing on ships. IRL it really was the best candidate to replace the ju-87 if the roof waffle had not lost their superiority. But once air superiority was lost there was really no chance for any ground attacker, or heavy fighter, to survive. Hell even though back with 190 we have with jettison is bomb load and just try to dog fight its way out of a situation once allied fighter showed up. The fact that the mosquito was so successful proves this aircraft could have been successful, had it been operating in truly contested airspace or in airspace for its Air Force had air superiority. Again I truly believe that this would be an amazing aircraft in DCS. It fits the bill in so many ways, it has an absolute buttload of missions it can fly, it's different than just another single seat fighter, and it's got a lot of features that make it absolutely unique and interesting. The only reason I could see it not being a good investment is because it's not world famous the way the mentorship and the FW are.
  7. Give me give me give me give me give me. God a later cold war F-8, so hopefully an RWR, and flairs, maybe chaff, and a true attack jet to go with it. All off of a smaller not super carrier, and maybe with the super carrier deck crew. God I might never touch my Hornet again. Let there be some Mig-21, 23, hell even an early 19, and that F-1, preferably toting exorcist, to dog fight with. I'm done. Why oh why isn't this the direction DCS went in.
  8. Oh my God I literally just spent my entire day off hammering out seed missions. All right I'm using talk to text so no making fun of how the spell check or whatever does this. To add on to what the other user showed you you can use the search and engage in zone task. Open up your seed flight, delete the seed tasking in advance waypoint options. This is important if you don't do this they'll attack any radar that shows up on the map. Go to enroute task. And select search and engaging zone. Make your own size however beg you want it to be. Also the attack unit, or attack group tasking is better than I thought it was. I was using a flight of f-18s to attack an SA2 to site. If the SA2 radars weren't turned on, they only attacked the p19s, because they couldn't see the SA twos targeting radar. I wound up putting in a flight of f-14s launching decoys. Personally thought that was pretty cool. You can use search and engage in zone to have a seed flight suppress anything that pops up in an area. Think of this like you flying that seed flight, and using either too, or self protect mode to suppress enemy air defenses. Neat and devious trick by the way, if you put a search radar in the same group as your short-range Sam's, and put the search radar to safe distance, then the short range air defenses will not go active until they can engage you. It makes things more interesting. So I prefer to think of engage unit or engage group as a pre-briefed attack and use it as such. Whil if I want the Jets to organically suppress an area I give them a search and engage in zone task. I hope this helps you building your seed missions. It's definitely not perfect, but it's actually a damn site better than it used to be.
  9. Maybe I'm overly fond of the twin engine fighter bomber. But we need some more German air to ground in DCS, and this plane could give us that. There were just over a thousand ME-410s built in the mid part of the war. They were used for everything from tank busting to bomber intercept. And honestly it's just a cool plane. It can dive bomb, it had a rotary air to air rocket launcher. It had modular armament, and a metric tone of it. It could mount a 50mm Canon. It has remote gun turrets. It's a true dive bomber. While IRL the allies didn't have to contend with much close air support. This is a simulation. And it was certainly possible that if the luftwaffe had been able to field a credible challenge for air superiority in 1944, that this would have been used against the allies in France. It's got the armament, the speed, and decent defensive capability. It's multi engine, and multi crew. It was used in many roles. It has a very interesting cockpit layout. All in all I believe it would be a truly great module for DCS.
  10. I know literally nothing about this jet. But if it's a late Cold War French attack jet. I would buy it on day one. We need some air to ground to go with the Mirage 2000, and the coming F1.
  11. Honestly at this point in DCS I don't think it's really worth the effort it would take. But alot of the ground work is already there. Engine wear is moddled. Basic repair and rearm is a thing. Airframe damage from over G is modeled. So getting some more life on the ramp would be nice. Maybe ED could start by giving us virtual marshallers. To guide us off of, and back onto our spots. It would be really really sweet to have to have a generator available to apply external power. And since pushing that thing in and hooking it up is done the exact same way every time it could easily be animated. It would definitely look cool to see the Hobart being pushed away on start up. Maybe even have a few crew "standard around and wrenching" while a jet is being rearmed would look awesome. Little touches really add to immersion. Now if the dynamic campaign ever becomes a reality, that might make this request something worth looking into. As I said wear and tear is already modeled in the game. And if the dynamic campaign approaches combat in a way that the aircraft that are in the environment persist in the environment, then jets having some kind maintenance performed while they're on the ground would definitely be a necessary thing. It could be simple as the as in the jet regenerates the longer it sits at the airport. Or it could be more realistic and complicated. Realistically there are only so many maintenance personnel available at any given time. So jets would "regenerate" in burst as the maintenance available at that airport "gets to them. It would be fun and add immersion to see some guys standing around and wrenching on the birds on the ramp. It would also be fun to have your aircrafts come back capability degraded over time as it would in an actual conflict. So yeah I think this is a future sort of request. But maybe one ED should look at.
  12. Definitely a plus one from me.
  13. I would love to see one of these on DCS. Honestly I would love to see a dedicated WWII Pacific map. WWII is easy money for ED look at how fast they develop a WWII aircraft. So maybe the Marianas? Would be a good map. And maybe they could get at least some form of ASW going. I would love to drop an early homing torpedo on a recently submurged sub.
  14. Honestly I was going to start a thread requesting this. I want to be able to place both infantry and military vehicles on civilian ships. Basically simulating the armed personships we saw in world war II but in the modern world. I don't think it's too far of a stretch to think that especially in the Persian Gulf we wouldn't see things like rolling ads's, sea Rams, or avengers, hell even infantry fighting vehicles placed on the decks of merchant ships to give them some protection against incoming anti-ship missiles. Or to defend them against small boat attacks, or just give them a chance to survive if attacked by an actual warship. Personally I think it would be a rather cool option.
  15. Ok, I'm going to get a little ugly now. I get that you love the TBF Avenger. I do too. It's a cool plane. But this is a wishlist, and this thread is about the B-25, and why it is an excellent candidate for the first multi engine, multi crew, level bomber in DCS. And your trying to highjack it and make it about why the TBF is better. Which it isn't. It wasn't IRL, and it is definitely not the right choice for DCS at this time. It's super rude to jump in here and try to take over the conversation. If you have something to contribute other then X aircraft, that wasn't even used in the theaters simulated, is better. Then pleas feel free. If not let is discuss the iconic B-25. And why we think it's a good choice for DCS in the hopes that ED will hear us, and maybe agree. If you want to talk about the TBF start your own thread, and we can all talk about it there.
  16. The issue is the TBM doesn't fit the theater of war that we have. It's a cool aircraft, and worthy of its own thread. But this is about the B-25. Personally I would definitely buy a TBF avenger. But it needs alot of support to even be realistically used. We have no WWII carrier. I'm still not convinced that the Corsair is anything but vaperware. So there is no proper fighter to escort it off of and back onto the carrier. There are not really any proper targets for it yet. The German surface fleet was non existent by the point in the war we have modeled so far. So no ships to torpedo. At least not in a historical context. The B-25 is a logical choice for all of the reasons I listed above. It fits the theater of war. It's very versatile. Even the glass nosed versions had four fixed fifty cals up front for ground attack. It's multi engine, and multi crew. ED loves to snow off what they can do, and a B-25 would give them that chance. So if there is enough interest from the community they might actually do it.
  17. Total AI overhaul. I want to see the aircraft AI behavior improved for both BVR, and WVR combat. I would also like to see some kind of a moral, or aggressiveness index. Basically an improvement to the "allow about mission" setting. So if the situation became unfavorable the AI would just cut and run. They'll kind of do this now. But I'm talking full up disengage and leave. I would also like more scalability to the AI. I would like an advanced AI settings option where Ai attributes such as Aggressiveness, weapons employment, BVR defensive tactics, WVR defensive tactics, and Aircraft handling could all be set with sliders. I would prefer 1-100 value. The four, I prefer five skill levels, would be an average numerical value six AI attributes. That way each AI aircraft would be slightly different. Let me be clear if you faced an AI that is maxed out you shouldn't win. Beyond that we need a naval AI that is able to conduct at least basic surface and subsurface warfare. This includes using counter measures such as chaff screens and flairs, and tactics such as turning the most defensive weapons to the attack. As well as offensive tactics like waiting to volley fire antiship missiles. The Ground AI is also included in this. I've already placed my suggestion for an upgrade the the current lack of ground AI. Basically a system that allows an attack to stop it they come apon overwhelming opposition. Or a defender to retreat if there massively out matched. The AI in sim isn't much improved over the AI it had back in LOMAC. It's time for an upgrade. I'm certain any of this is predicated on getting multi core working though.
  18. The JU-88 would be an absolutely spectacular DCS module as it dose all the things. I've heard that there are none flying. But ED could do the wind tunnel thing they did with the P-47. The BF-110 is a little early for our current plane set. But the BF-410 would fit. I want the B-25 because it is a level bomber, the technology to do it has been developed, it fits our maps, and there are several examples flying and plenty of SMEs. But I want all the WWII planes, literally all of them.
  19. This pod footage is amazing. I didn't realize that optical technology was that advanced in the 80's. Or that Iraqi had it. I'm really really looking forward to this module. Are we getting a TGP.
  20. It was one of the major pieces of technology used by the U.S.A. during WWII. I myself would love to have a go at using it in the most realistic combat sim there is. Also having a B-25 equipped with it would open up level bombing to players in DCS. It's a new capability that DCS is just now becoming able to do.
  21. No need to split it. As long as they can plan they're missions all modern jets have INS/GPS. Then there is TCAN and VOR. Or NDBs. I personally think having some better pilotage would be freeking awesome. Plus as you said we can have AI navigators now that tell us where to point the nose. And it looks like the European theater is going to get alot bigger. So bring on the old school navigation. You can already turn off the F10 map.
  22. MLWS will be a big step. I've always been able to avoid ground based radar anyway. As long as I know it's there. But having an RWR would let you know when to hide from aircraft. I'm sure that if the Blackshark had been adopted it would have gotten an RWR. But as it is it was only a prototype. God if only that could do the KA-52. But we all know that isn't gonna happen.
  23. I'm not a programmer. But I do understand there are difficulties in programming ground AI. To me one of the biggest immersion breakers is the fack that ground vehicles will suicidely charge into superior enemy forces. What I propose is something like "reaction to threat" that can be selected in the advanced waypoint menu. For now I'll call it caution, or aggression. Basically if an attacking vehicle runs into sufficient opposition it would stop and engage before moving on. This is similar to how the infantry already behaves. I also proposed allowing the vehicle, or group of vehicles the ability to reverse ten through a hundred meters if they are exposed to a superior force. That way they don't get annihilated. After a minute or two they could attempt to advance again. I propose having this level of caution be scalable. So for example the attackers would stop there advance and engage if the force ratio was .25 to 1, for caution level extreme, or .5 to1, for High, 1 to 1 for moderate, 2 to 1 for low, 4 to 1 for fanatical. Retreat would work the same way. As for how to calculate force strength maybe assigning a numerical value types of units. MBTs=5 points, IFVs =3, APCs=2, troops=1 for example. The advantages I see to something like this are. 1. It would slow ground fights down. Allowing us time to intervene in them with or aircraft. Especially the shiny new attack helicopters. Which would be 10 points in my opinion. 2. It would make ground combat more organic. Simply by enabling retreat for defending forces you could allow them to be pushed out of there positions without being destroyed. This could be a big deal over long missions, where you might want them to reoccupy that position once the enemy force has been reduced. Again for example by those shiny new attack helicopters 3. It would make creating interesting close air support scenarios much easier by creating an organic ground combat environment.

  24. This would be nice. If we could get "detected in zone" trigger zones to combine it with it would be revolutionary in DCS.
