  1. The problem you are seeing is new, only since the last update. Prior to that trains were reliably visible in all Single Player missions, the problem reported in this post has been there since the Assets Pack was released, trains have never worked in Multiplayer. Now that it is also a Single Player issue as well, it has been reported and might be fixed soon.
  2. The switch from Steam to stand alone is free, so don't let that hold you back. In fact, if you have both you can take advantage of the best of both worlds as sometimes you can get better deals on Steam and then activate it on stand alone.
  3. No idea then, people can definitely fly aircraft that you don't own on your server.
  4. Did you set both aircraft to 'Client' in the mission editor?
  5. Sounds like Windows is protecting you from yourself. Check access control and anti-virus settings
  6. Map is still in EA, there is no winter version of the map yet, hopefully it will be included soon, until then we have spring and summer only. So effectively we can simulate from March to Septembre only.
  7. To close the loop and for historical record: There may be a bug with the oil pressure in the A8, however the overall behavior as described is not unexpected. For example in my classic car the way you can tell the engine is warm enough is when the oil pressure suddenly drops to the normal zone, which is coincidentally just before the temperature enters the normal operation zone. The the oil pressure jumps to 60 psi on start up and gradually begins to drop when the temp begins to rise. As the temp approaches 70c it will suddenly drop to 35c or so from about 50c. Engine oils today are different from oils produced in the 1940's. Oils produced then were what we call today mono-grade as opposed to modern multi-grade oils like 10W-30. Modern multi-grade oils provide protection at a wide range of temperatures older oils provided protection at a much narrower band of temperatures. Older mono-grade oils tend to be 'thicker' at room temperature and are not providing protection to the engine when cold so warming up is more important, the oil will suddenly become more fluid as temperature approaches the range it was designed to operate at. Modern multi-grade oils are fluid at room temperature and provide protection at start up as well as at the designed operating temperature so warming up your car, except in the coldest conditions is not as much of a requirement. The original owners manual for my classic recommends Castrol XL or Mobiloil Special etc as the replacement oil, which was likely 40 or 50 SAE, today I use 20W-50 which provides greater protection at start up but still wait for it to reach operating temp before driving it. The manual goes on to state ' the minimum pressure at 3,000 r.p.m. when hot should not be less than 40p.s.i.' Normally at idle it is 35 and increases as engine load increases. I would expect an aircraft engine to behave similarly.
  8. I hope that is because a winter season is coming for the map and then we can set the temperature to less than 9c. Although it is southern England and not Canada, so the coldest it gets is not much colder than 9c anyway.
  9. was fixed some time ago. Now it won't go below 9c no matter what the date is
  10. Nobody gives a damn about auto-generated modern diesel electric locomotives in the DCS WWII community. The trains that are the problem are the WWII trains that were introduced as part of the WWII Assets Pack. As reported here: To summarize, the trains work in a limited fashion in SP but not MP. Trains placed as static objects are visible to all players in MP but when placed as dynamic trains, regardless of route, direction of travel, map or any other settings they are only visible to the host in MP.
  11. Salute LRRP, from all at your old squadron.
  12. Given that the FW 190F-8/G-8 and the P-38L are already in progress by ED and Flying Iron Simulations and the Bf 109G-6 and A6M5 are in progress as AI by ED and M3 with intentions stated to make them flyable someday maybe (and I don't care if they stay AI only) that really only leaves one aircraft suitable for our current two WWII maps. I would love to have a Spitfire Mk XIVe but a Typhoon Ib ( not car door) would be a better fit and a significant aircraft that is different from what we currently have and appropriate for the maps we have. There are a lot of other aircraft that would be easier to make I think and really needed, a Mustang III/P-51B/C, an appropriate version of the P-47 as well, FW 190A-4. For something really easy, a modification to the existing Spitfire Mk IXc to give it a Gyro Mk II gunsight option and exchange the .303 Browning's for .50 Browning making it a IXe which would be appropriate or for something completely different, an option for a Seafire F Mk III mod to the Mk IXc to make it usable in the Pacific as well as Normandy.
  13. The 262 is the sole reason that I thankfully steered clear of the Kick-starter debacle. I knew at that point that they were not serious and am glad I gave it a pass. I wish that ED would too and focus on making better decisions about content. The P-47 that they eventually gave us was not the one that was promised, I assume that they gave up trying to find information on the P-47D-28 and went with the -30, I wish they had gone with a -15 or -22 instead since they didn't deliver the -28. I also wish they would admit defeat and deliver a different aircraft that would have something to add rather than peruse the 262 any further. If some day all the major a/c have been made and time and enough information are available, sure, why not make it, but for now it really adds nothing.
  14. But it isn't, the old forum at least you could use Tapatalk if you didn't like the desktop forum on your mobile device, this one is impossible to navigate on my Pixel and is terrible for a desktop. I always used the desktop version on my phone and it was fine. As an example, on my phone I couldn't even vote on this forum poll because it just opens automatically to the results, I had to make a special effort to find it on the desktop version when I got home from work just so I could vote on how I felt about the change.
  15. Could you do a texture that covers up the AGLs?
  16. Not while flying the P-51D :music_whistling:
  17. Normandy update...
  18. None of the maps come with missions, the missions come with the aircraft module.
  19. Wow! Never saw anything like that!
  20. Ok, SRS works fine for me as well. What a/c are you flying and what ATC are you trying to contact? Do you have a particular mission? You would think after all the other maps where it works ok
  21. 1 & 2 are not related to the map and it might be helpful to add your observation to the thread on the WWII Assets Pack thread. 3 ATC works for me, is this in SP or MP?
  22. My 2¢ 1) Stop going to Best Buy, they are not doing well by you. 2) Find a reputable computer dealer, word of mouth works well. 3) Don't buy a new computer, there is no need. Upgrade your existing computer. You will not find a $700 computer that will run DCS. TWICE that much will give you a computer that will run DCS for the next few years and THREE times that budget will give you a computer system that will run DCS for several years. For your $700 budget you should be able to get a new motherboard, CPU and RAM. RAM For DCS get 32GB of RAM, fastest that the motherboard will support. CPU DCS and most flight simulators are not like the mass FPS that the guys at Best Buy are familiar with. They will talk about bench marks and FPS on AAA titles that use the Unreal game Engine that use multiple cores. DCS needs the fastest single core clock speed you can afford which is why it typically runs better on an Intel processor these days. Look for the fastest clock speed and I recommend you pay a bit extra and get a K version that you will not need to overclock yourself. Say a Core i5-10600k or a i5-10600KF which should be a bit cheaper since it does not have onboard graphics which you will not need 4) wait for the new RTX-30XX series cards to be released before upgrading it.
  23. There are two parking spots number 32 at Bassel Al-Assad airbase, one for large aircraft on the East ramp and one for helicopters directly North of it in the heliport
