Well then the override check box won't do anything for you then if it is more complex than changing the settings that are in the same tab in the players settings that this check box is on. Controlling these settings in the mission editor is literally opening a menu and selecting a bunch of very obvious items, either on or off and sometimes there is a drop down menu. I don't care what people do with a mission I make in single player. It literally takes longer to open the mission and save it again than to make the changes that this check box controls. What I don't want is the ability for players to override the server settings by default, turning on labels, full map icons, unlimited ammunition etc.

You are not understanding the problem. If you download a mission you are and always have been free to change the settings. There is no need for the check box. And it does become the mission designers problem because players hold them unreasonably to account for the mission that they broke by using mods or making changes that the mission designers could not anticipate leading to frustration from posts slagging the mission and wasted time by the designer trying to recreate and fix a non-existent bug. You can already, no need for the check box. That's the point, in MP we can't dictate anymore. I can build a server and set the exactly as I intend and the majority of the players want and someone can join and override the settings, for example they could just turn on labels and no one else would be the wiser unless they noticed how much better they are doing. How would you feel if you played by the rules and kept getting shot down by someone you couldn't even see who was cheating by having labels on? It is quite the non sequitur , ED has put in place measures to prevent players using shaders, VoiceAttack and other useful apps but lets a player turn on labels.

At least put a couple of orange pylons and some caution tape around it. -
investigating Later Trigger Trains do not show for client

Which types of trains? The ambient trains are not synchronized but the mission editor placed ones were last time I checked. -
No. I am sure if you do a quick search (on my phone so it is painful) you will find that they have emphatically stated that the map is feature complete and there are no plans to add more airfields. I think the map tools for this map have been overtaken by newer ones used for maps like N2, so they are reluctant to invest in more work on it. I hope they do the same thing and replace this one with C2, much larger and compatible perhaps with N2. But I'm not holding my breath.

I have been thinking about the same thing. I believe you can just copy over your saved game folder, it will contain your settings and logbook. Incidentally, I have exactly the same computer but have not decided on upgrading yet, I am waiting for the 14th gen Intel chipsets to drop to make a decision.

Odd, I find that the WWII AI generally work fine. There are a few issues with a couple of commands that they totally ignore, but most commands that are appropriate for WWII they do well except for 'Cover Me' which makes them attack the nearest en ac instead.

Different Fuselage Fuel Gauge for P-51D-25

Canopy open for one and closed for the other? -
If there are any unofficial ones I would love to know as well. I am hopeful that someone with time and skill will get fed up and make one.

Unfortunately not from official tools, it would be the dream if someone made a mod for servers to do this like the Steam workshop does for ArmA.

This, like the Syria Map is a massive improvement over other maps including the old Normandy 44 map that have the block of dark green where the trees are, it looks terrible and makes difficult spotting even more unrealistic.

general autopilot or autolevel for the spitfire
71st_AH Rob replied to jackd's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I use the four way hat on my Warthog and mostly can get it trimmed for level flight , it will change constantly though with change in alt, heading and wind direction. The Spitfire is a bit inherently unstable I think so it won't stay straight and level as long as a Mustang. -
I really wish all those airfields were on this map along with Croydon etc, but ED hopefully has plans to expand that map now so it would be contrary to their interests. There are more airfields that are even more important to the Normandy campaign that maybe could be added; there were many 9th AF ALGs in the south of Kent like Headcorn and High Halden and a few 2 TAF ones as well that we could use that are not already on the Channel map so maybe they are a possibility.

The problem then becomes, we have a Spitfire Mk.IXc in early 1943 configuration. A Mk.IX that would have flown over a Germany map would some small but significant improvements, in fact one that flew over France from April 1944 would have at least had a Gyro Mk II gun sight, but a Spit as old and tired as ours would have been relegated to a support role by then. Or sent on Leand Lease to the USSR. A better interim solution than a Germany map would be to extend the Channel map to the North and East to the Ruhr Valley (yes, that is Germany). Then the B-17, current P-51 any 47 could escort them to realistic targets where they would be intercepted by D-9 and K-4. The A-8 could be based in Belgium and the Spitfires and Mosquito could raid the coastal area. The i-16 and La-7 would of course still be left out. A map dedicated to recreating the summer of 1944 as UGRA intends this map to be, deserves and needs an appropriate plane set, which is not a K-4 without MW50 pretending to be a G-6.

RAF Hornchurch, a vital role in the defence of London
71st_AH Rob replied to forewarnedisforearmed's topic in Wish List
While RAF Hornchurch played a vital role in the Battle of Britain, I can't think of any role it had in the summer of 1944 as the map depicts. Was it home of a balloon unit for V1 defense or was it a try unit? Not at my references ATM. -
Careful, this is what got the Cylons agitated.. making fun of their god.

Engine cutting out at around 17,000 ft
71st_AH Rob replied to Davros23's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Our Spitfire is a bit of a Frankenstein's monster. Also the real pilot's notes are very confusing, even for many native English speakers, so not surprised that they left it out. The wobble pump is from 1942 and early 1943. The electric pump replaced it in the spring of 1943. -
No, you need to have a slot for Game Master etc and have to have set the veh as drivable in the ME. Also only those who have the Combined Arms will be able to drive. There is a setting somewhere allowing players to drive, not at my computer ATM, that would allow a pilot to drive vehs. Hope this helps

Because it is on the Channel map already, along with Manston, Hawkinge, Lympne and East Church.

Use the invisible FARP, it makes better WWII airfields anyway and I wish all were like that. -
If the Patch Status thread said anything almost but TBC, it would not be an issue. You know if it said Wed 7 June, to celebrate D-Day, you could hype all you like and there would be no complaints. Then you could say it was imminent all you liked and people would happily know that it was next update, event though it was at least seven weeks away.
