  1. Sadly no Vimy. It was the first thing I went looking for. The grand castle overlooking the Dieppe landing beaches is also missing. I had requested both in the Channel map some time ago, apparently they didn't make the cut for Normandy 2.0
  2. I also possibly am looking at it from a different perspective. I don't have expectations for a perfect flight model - that's impossible given the fact I'm using a PC joystick (albeit a quality one), without proper force trim and with a much smaller stick throw than the real thing. Add in the lack of seat of the pants feel and peripheral vision / depth perception, and it is impossible to replicate the experience of the real thing 1:1. In short, I can't fly the DCS Huey as well as I can fly the real thing. I struggle to do precision hovering, 1 skid on inserts, etc - all things I can do second nature in the real aircraft. It's not because the DCS flight model is wrong, it's primarily a combination of the above factors. For what it is and considering all these limitations, the Huey flight model is pretty darn good.
  3. 1. Regarding the simulator, you are actually agreeing with me. What I said was the Level D sim flight model is not realistic (to the aircraft or DCS). 2. Feel free to disagree. I'm secure in my opinion based on thousands of hours flying helicopters. I never said it was perfect (it's not). But it's pretty good, and better than a multi million dollar professional simulator.
  4. I’m pretty sure in the long version, at some point before the second refuel, you must be pushed to Texaco on aux. Too many of us are reporting missing the conversation on tac because of being on Texaco on aux for the second fuel. In fact I do seem to recall having to communicate with the tanker on aux, not pri, for the second fuel! It’s a minor thing but without flying the whole 2hr mission again I’m pretty sure there’s something here.
  5. OK, no worries. In my case he did eventually attack, he just had to truck aall the way back to do it!
  6. Helicopters genuinely are hard to fly, especially hover. You can’t compare the KA50 as it’s coaxial rotor and stability systems negate much of the negative stability side effects of tail rotor equipped aircraft. The DCS Apache feels about right in this regard, it’s no harder to hover than the real helicopters I fly for a living. Your control setup is almost certainly holding you back. Your next question would probably be, then, why do most helicopters not go with a coaxial configuration then, if tail rotors cause so much trouble? The answer is complexity. Coax rotor systems are extremely complex and maintenance heavy.
  7. Thanks for confirming!
  8. Yeah I was wondering about Comm 2 as well. I tried switching tac to comm 1 but the static was on the frequency regardless of which radio I used (DCS limitation I imagine), so I decided not to mess with it unless prompted. According to the scoring guide, you need to hit the AAA, your JDAM target and land for a score of 100. It’s possible there was a script glitch for you if you did all that, I had it not count my carrier landing on M14 even though I had landed.
  9. Finally finished the campaign, 6 months in the making! While there were periods of significant frustration (due to mostly DCS bugs that saw me shelve the campaign a few times and come back once the bugs were repaired), overall it was a very well done and immersive campaign. BD can't control the DCS bugs unfortunately! If anyone is in the same boat (waiting to come back to it), it's working now (less very minor issues) and highly recommended.
  10. Just finished Mission 15. After the credits, when the master caution goes off, there was just a long silence until the wingmen repositioned behind me and lead came up on strike for a rep. I assume there was a missed voiceover where Flip informs the flight that he has an issue, but I didn't hear it. I was still on Button 3 (texaco) aux. There was no push that I can see (I went back through messages history) to put me back on Tac, so that's why I assume the voiceover was missed. Perhaps I missed it but there was nothing in messages history. After completing the mission, I went back and commenced from RTB. The message told me to be on Button 2 Aux, which did give me the voiceover and everything worked as expected. I'm not going to replay all the way from IP to see if I missed the push or if it wasn't there - perhaps you could do a quick check of the script and make sure it exists? Thanks!
  11. Another data point. After I launched, something went very wrong on the boat behind me.... And on attempt 2, I narrowly managed to dodge being hit by olive on taxi, only to have the wonderfully professional deck crew give her a launch go ahead at exactly the same time as me. With predictable results. Attempt 3, Tomcats crashed and exploded on CAT 3/4. I guess I'll have to skip to past the AAR, which sucks because I wanted to do the whole experience... I get these are DCS bugs. But ED better sort out these problems, or guys like BD will stop making campaigns, and/or guys like me will stop paying for them... I've been trying to play through this campaign for 6 months now, but keep getting stalled by bugs... RODF M14.trk
  12. Ahhhhh I recognize those guys! Love it!
  13. I wonder if someone could help me. There is an RCAF skin built into DCS, but the pilot models that come with it are generic (no patches or anything). I'd like to edit those to add Canadian patches, but the Huey seems to have a different file layout for liveries. Anyone know where the file is that I can edit to edit this specific livery's pilot models? Nevermind - found it! C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\Liveries\uh-1h\Canadian Force
  14. Forgive me if this is obvious, but did you set rock as A/A waypoint in the HSI data page? You can then see where your radar or SA page cursor is and get yourself heading in the right direction until you find him on your own radar.
  15. Huh, strange! I played that mission yesterday and all went well, except the inability to complete after landing. I don’t envy campaign creators these days, chasing new bugs every update!
  16. Did the SA3 not engage Sluggo on his run-in? He called defending, and the 3 popped up on my TOO page, so I engaged and destroyed it with HARM. I brought one HARM back. My problem is, the mission won't acknowledge as complete. I refueled, followed him to the boat, and landed with DCS Marshal comms as directed. However, no mission completion, score 50...
  17. I'm just replaying, and I think I know why I waited forever for Red to engage. It's happened again on my second run through - Red has run off at the high port, waaaaay to the east. Like, single handedly invading Syria far, over 40 miles. When called to engage, he then needs to truck waaaaay back west to actually engage!
  18. Chalk up another one. No reduction in FPS, still very playable, but minimal increase and also showing CPU bound in the F18 Syria free flight mission.
  19. Is this DCS bug supposed to be fixed now? I'm starting the campaign from scratch (had to take a break halfway through earlier), and still I'm getting no datalink on missions 4 and 5.
  20. I’ve used process lasso in the past, but not recently. Maybe I’ll give it another try.
  21. I’m finding very minimal improvement after MT. I suspect the stronger CPU meant I was closer to GPU bottlenecking even before MT. Now I’m hard GPU bottlenecked. It DOES seem to help a fair bit more in busy missions though, where even the X3D struggled.
  22. How do I do this? Would like to try it. Interestingly, using the new MT exe file, I only get the triangle screen once now. Still goes twice in the ST exe file.
  23. The other aspect not yet discussed here (but it has been identified in other threads) is suppression. I've had scenarios where I've unloaded an entire rocket salvo or burst of 30mm at an armoured vehicle, and while in the midst of receiving that salvo, taken fire from the vehicle's pintle mounted MG. Even if that vehicle doesn't take a direct rocket hit (it's conceivable it could survive hits only in proximity), it shouldn't be shooting back. No-one is exposing themselves outside the turret to man the pintle MG, and the coax / main weapons would have their sights shredded or at least masked by the smoke and dust. But I do believe suppression is another area identified for fix already...
  24. Thanks, my experience sounds very similar to yours, even down to the sound. It's been doing this since I got my Reverb G2 (3 years now?). In that time I've done multiple DCS reinstalls (for various reasons), and even a complete system wipe and re-install (new hard drive). I suspect the only thing that may solve it is more direct WMR integration with DCS. MSFS 2020 is a very very smooth transition between VR and flat panel, that would be the gold standard we'll hopefully one day get to.
