  1. I'm not sure how good the external overlay is on the HTC Vive, but it might be possible that you will be able to see your real life buttons overlayed into the VR helmet.
  2. I honestly think the best plane to pick is the one you are most interested in. Sure 600 page manuals can be daunting, but you only need to read about the parts that you want know about at the time. You don't need to know what every single button and switch does in order to get flying. :D BTW While the manual is good, there are plenty of youtube videos which is what helped me a lot. Especially when I wasn't familiar with all of the lingo. All you need to know is where the flaps, landing gear and lights are. As well as what the HUD symbols means. Just learn the few basics functions that allow you to fly, take off and land. Then look at the start procedure. Once you can do that, learn the parts you are interested in. All planes have relatively the same start up procedure, batteries > fuel pumps > apu > engines > AC power > electronics/nav. Sure some have a few more buttons but it's always essentially the same procedure. I did it this way, but purely by accident. I bought the A-10C because I just love the aircraft. I had no idea there was so much involved. (And I never played a sim before that! I knew nothing about flying or planes, I just loved the A-10C). I just took it step by step. Learnt to fly, then how to fire the gun, then I learnt rockets, then I learnt the TGP, then bombs, then mavericks. I didn't take long. Despite the A-10C having a lot of systems, it's obvious the designers made it easy to do 2 things quickly and easily, fly and blow things up. :) After I was able to do all of the fun things, I then went back and learned how to make use of all of the other features that make it easier do the fun things. Again one thing at time. I actually learnt the start up procedure last, but I think would have been better to learn it sooner. I would stay away from from the planes that are still in development. It won't do you any favors when you are learning.
  3. From what other threads are saying we should see something soon.
  4. 32K is a long way away, but if either VR headset manages to compete with a 1080p screen I'll be happy, that is all I need to play DCS. Anything else is a bonus :)
  5. Man I'd love to fly a whiskey Cobra. Seems like you've got the best of everything, fire power, speed, and your still light enough to be maneuverable.
  6. DCS: HeliTank AH1-M1
  7. I glued one of these to mine. It works better, but still far from accurate. I think the controller it self is just rubbish.
  8. Looking forward to this!
  9. I have a warthog, and it's a fantastic stick, but I wouldn't recommend if you're mostly flying helicopters because the spring is very strong. I can't see it working on a bed. Also the throttle is very heavy, it needs a desk or platform to sit on. You can mod it of course by taking out the main spring and the weights I suppose. Another option might be the VKB rudder pedals. They work differently and I can see them working on a bed if you have something to lean them against. Edit: you might benefit from something like this too http://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/Lazy-hanging-simple-desktop-computer-desk-domestic-mobile-bedside-rotating-lift-bed-simple-computer-stand/32359425037.html or this http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Computer-desk-desktop-notebook-computer-desk-bed-lounged-table-belt-monitor-holder/832954_1320254701.html So that you don't have a to sit 45 degrees.
  10. woah $30USD for a folded and drilled bit of metal :S Surely there is something similar in a hardware store that will be like $5 edit: something like a handful of these and C clamp http://www.bunnings.com.au/dunnings-100-x-100-x-35mm-m10-galvanised-angle-bracket_p1076668
  11. That's a really nice product. But it's close to what I payed for the warthog itself after shipping!
  12. This is great. Thanks for going to the effort. I hope ED follows by your example :)
  13. This. It's a nice concept, but it's just really bland. I had no desire to continue playing after I got a feel for what was involved. It also feels quite strange pumping a full magazine worth of bullets into a thug or looter, but because they are level 10 and your gun is level 5 it doesn't kill them *shrugs*
  14. Thanks for being transparent like this. Either way I see it, a harrier is exciting :)
  15. Kind of ironic that he runs a company called Valve when soon he's going to need one in his heart. It's a shame he isn't a innovative with his health as he is with technology.
  16. Short answer is yes, I think he has a quite a lot planned apart from joysticks :)
  17. Does the F-16 do anything that the F/A-18 can't? I don't know much about either, but I thought they were multi-role fighters with fairly similar capabilities.

It’s also a very comfortable working or gaming desk as the keyboard tray sits just above the legs where your hands fall naturally. It takes only a few seconds to switch between work or an FPS game to a simulator. Functionally perfect. There is some cosmetic wear and tear. (chipped paint and my cat has decided to sharpen his claws on the back of the seat so some of the rear fabric is a bit roughed up, but the actual seating area is good). Located in Canberra Australia. Pick up for free, or if you organise shipping I'll pack it up for you. Ideally I'd like to ask for $500 AUD, but I'm open to offers. Feel free to ask any questions.
  19. I'd love to by the articulating keyboard tray off you.
  20. Well spotted! You should add it to the list http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144091&highlight=riddick :D
  21. Super cool! Is that a Komodo Sim cyclic?
  22. These are fantastic (especially if your bluetooth dongle/onboard chip supports Apt-X encoding). http://www.sony.com.au/product/mdr-1rbt Great bass and body, but with excellent clarity as well. You'll be able to make out every little sound that has been recorded for DCS. Hums, rumbles and whistles of the one engine sound :) With great spatial awareness too. It's very impressive when you're starting up your aircraft and something flys past, you can pinpoint it's location even without looking. If your current Bluetooth receiver doesn't support Apt-X, the bluetooth audio sounds probably only as good as radio quality. So it's defintely worth getting even a separate dongle for the sound alone. Something like this will easily do it, and it's nice and small too: http://www.amazon.com/Azio-Micro-Bluetooth-Adapter-BTD-V401/dp/B00JAZGSXY
  23. Or this, if you don't mind waiting a little while. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=156362
  24. Hah very true, they'd have to be nearly as far as the distance between the moon and earth :)
