I have only flown DCS in VR, and now have the usual HOTAS and another 5 panels and MFDs. Whilst I can’t see the panels or MFDs, you build up muscle memory fairly quickly, similar to being able to touch type. For the more difficult to discern buttons, say on the MFDs, I have used velcro to give some buttons a texture that I can feel. Works wonders

The latest update to Syria has added a host of new helipads. That has meant going into my missions to click on each pad to set it to the appropriate faction (Red, Blue). With the sheer number of locations, it's fairly time consuming. It struck me that it would be really cool if the mission editor allowed us to set ALL airfields in a country, or a definable rectangle to a specific faction. It would certainly save a LOT of time. I appreciate that we may well want to change some within that country to a different faction, but if it's only a few, still massively faster.

Thoughts: Downloaded faster than I expected, so that's cool I struggled to see any FPS improvement. Having said that, my "guess" from the release notes are that the enhancements are likely to reduce the instances of say a big terrain texture being loaded which might have previously resulted in something of a hiccup and stutter in game. I certainly didn't notice any of those, so that's great Very happy to see additional enhancements to the maps. That was a WHOLE bunch of new helicopter pads in Syria, excellent Great to see such a wealth of updates, my thanks

I’m currently using a Virpil alpha on a virpil base. I should be getting an AB9 in around a month, and intend to use the Virpil alpha with it. I’m very conscious that it’s almost certainly going to result in a new controller ID being generated by windows, with the resulting “fun” of needing the resolve bindings for 40+ aircraft. Does anyone know if there’s a way to virtualise the interface between DCS and the joystick, such that DCS would think that the joystick is unchanged, whilst I only rebind the new setup once? I’m guessing that joystick gremlin might be able to do this, but have never tried.

DLAA (without DLSS upsampling) is for me, currently the best compromise in VR. I’ve tried the other options, and felt that DLAA was best

Being fair, when was the last time he told us anything that ED hadn't already?

Additionally, are you on a monitor or in VR? Makes a big difference.

I watched a vid yesterday which included a review. The user tried his Virpil F14 grip and 200mm extension and had 2 concerns: - his view was that the extension resulted in the torque being effectively decreased by the point that it reaches the grip (leverage). His comment being that 100mm might be a better compromise - he mentioned that some of the buttons didn’t work as expected with the Virpil grip. Unfortunately, he didn’t state what those issues were, so I’ve no idea if he meant that a single button wasn’t working, or maybe all of them As a user of a Virpil grip with 200mm extension, I’m looking to understand better

Changing 10900K by 7800x3D worth It?
Mr_sukebe replied to gonvise's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
?? That’s the same changes as myself. The 2500 has just been retired as a spare, the 9700 given to my son. In straight FPS, and when compared to the 9700 using the same 3080ti GPU, the 7800x3d have improved by a good 50%+. What has been more noticeable is the improvement in smoothness, which I assume is due to the new RAM, MB chipset, SSD type -
The AB9 is supposedly compatible with the Thrustmaster interface, which means that Virpil grips should also work. I did think that WW made an adapter that would allow use of their grips on TM kit, which "should" work.

I can't see the ME being killed. For one thing, we know that ED asked for feedback and are intending to improve and enhance it. I'm hoping that we'll end up with a standalone web browser version that will allow things like copy and paste from one terrain to another, undo etc.

I use an externally powered Anker unit. It has 7 data ports and 3 charging ports. Well I say I have one, that's not really true, I have 3, two for most of my devices and one to keep the VR headset charged whilst I play. No issues in the 2-3 years that I've had them.

Awesome, looking forward to playing with that

Just chatted with the UK vendor, who are expecting stock in next week.

Any of you have an AB9 with a Virpil grip and can comment on compatibility? I know that it's meant to be fully compatible, I'm just hoping for some more confirmation from someone on this forum.

Not tried it, as the hub does a great job.

I refunded. Doing it was a much a statement to Razbam to sit down and resolve things. It’s a real shame, as I love the Harrier and like the M2000 too.

having your VRAM already maxed out is not telling the full story of what’s going on behind the scenes. If the map/aircraft textures result in need to load in say 20GB of texture data over a second, then the GPU will need to unload some and replace with other textures. We know that DCS is already asking for more than 12GB as your current VRAM is maxed out. The real question is more about how much is being addressed over a period of several seconds. That could be anything from 10GB to maybe 40GB and the higher that is, the more file swapping will be needed. That swap is dependent upon the management of the GPU, data transfer rates for RAM and over PCIe to both the GPU and SSD. In short, DCS is asking a lot from not just the GPU but also the rest of your PC components. My hope is that some of the textures can be simplified.

+1 It would be great for us to be able to use the various choppers in other ways.

				DCS Airborne aircraft carrier
Mr_sukebe replied to tigershark1-1's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
I originally thought that dropping aircraft would easier, but thinking about it, putting a whole in the bottom would potentially impact upon its seaworthiness. So maybe launch tubes using electro-magnetic cats would be more appropriate. Angling the launchers could provide a ski-jump type take off. Recovery of aircraft whilst floating on water would require a flight deck, unless all the aircraft are like the F35c
