  1. Let's keep this on the MSI integration conversation, fellas.
  2. Jak, are you confident that this "NO RDR" indicator is associated with MSI target designation without the radar and not some software 'help' that represents the system trying to "remember" a temporarily lost radar contact until the radar finds it again? I only ask because it appears on the HUD, in the JETSTREAM clip, so quickly/briefly.
  3. I live in the United States. But posting or publishing such a document here or anywhere else in the public online space would be out of play, yes (whether in or outside of the U.S.). As far as "...tag is wrong you can remove it" what are you talking about?
  4. I found that $18 usd document too... but didn't pull the trigger. I'm confident that ED is looking in the right places for as much Lot 20 data as possible... just interested in the information that is being brought forth here by Jak and others.
  5. Bluh... no. Fat, draggy, disproportioned, slower, and all around disappointing compared to the Legacy. I'll take less fuel and more of a chance of departure over the ugly Super any day!
  6. And have been blowing for years now in DCS.
  7. Nice! I had no idea.
  8. Hmmm... since when does HMD LHACQ mode reach out to 40nm? I thought it was HACQ = 5 nm and LHACQ = 10 nm.
  9. Any more word on the Double-TD box/non-blanking HMD symbology?
  10. Great post. Agreed.
  11. 13.4 deg. per sec. - 12.3 deg. per sec. = 1.1 seconds... not "more than 2sec," which would make it pretty dang close to the real thing if your tests were good.
  12. Cool. Appreciate the info. Hopefully we can see more if this integration happen to our DCS Hornet.
  13. Jak, is that from a Legacy or Super HUD? Obviously Wags' old Hornet sim that shall not be named was the Super, but I'm sure you know that. Love it, fellas. Keep it comin'... **EDIT** Never mind, just saw that it was from the JETSTREAM show with Canadian Hornets.
  14. I was about to say the same thing. Thanks 9L.
  15. Fair enough... Having the paddle switch is realistic as you said. In the name of realism: The paddle switch should be there. But if pilots don't use it in the real-world, it would be realistic to not use it in DCS... For me personally, it is more of a sportsmanship thing. If I'm BFM'ing or otherwise fighting an opponent using the Paddle Switch, there's ZERO satisfaction in winning because, in my mind, I've cheated. Would a real Hornet pilot in a real war situation use it to escape dying? Of course. But in a game like DCS, it feels like I'm not truly being good in the Hornet. Now, if USN Hornets had the FCS and airframe modifications that the Swiss and Finnish Hornets had, watch out ALL you 4th Gen fighters... 9 Gs comn' atchya.
  16. Also, (hopefully not to derail my own thread) I'm increasingly glad that ED brought us the Legacy Lot 20 and NOT the Super Hornet. Watching the new Blue Angels demo, listening to SMEs on the Hornet's evolution, and the words of pilots who transitioned from Legacy to Super (and perusing the GAO doc on the Super)... The Legacy is a higher performance, slightly more untamed beast than the Super. The Super Hornet's roll rate, for example, is slower and is actually noticeable when watching the new Blues perform. Sure, the Super has greater range, payload capacity, and more sophisticated systems/FCS... but in terms of maneuverability, acceleration, that Hornet-howl, and arguably better looks... I'm thankful for the Legacy.
  17. And a good pilot in a Hornet can eat a good Viper pilot half the time.
  18. Jak, Do you have any solid evidence on the APG-73/Lot 20 to back this functionality up? I ask because the ED Team has marked this thread as "No Evidence" regarding the MSI functionality on the RDR ATTK page. Just curious...
  19. Every time I jump into the NTTR map... I think the same thing: The terrain and shadows at altitude look absolutely sharp and amazing. Every time I jump into the Syria map... I think: Man, the terrain and shadows at altitude look a bit dull and blurry. The NTTR map is very sparse in terms of objects, but the view from the air in particular looks stunning all these years later.
  20. Why is that sad? The Viper is not in any way an invincible BFM fighter. Eagle drivers, Tomcat drivers, and Hornet drivers have all beaten the Viper in real world DACT. And the Viper has waxed these guys many times as well. These 4th gen (or 3.5 gen for the non-D Tomcat as they say) fighters are all pretty close in the BFM realm when they play to their strengths. Their strengths (and weaknesses) are just different. Enter the merge slow (or end up slow) in a Viper against a Hornet with a good pilot... You're dead. Hornet pilot's don't need the paddle switch in real life because Hornet pilots don't use the paddle switch in real life.
  21. Hey, Team. This has been mentioned elsewhere (see pic), but just wanted to inquire as to whether or not offboard MSI tracks will be designate-able on the RDR ATTK page and/or will allow for Alt & Speed when highlighting under the TDC? Thanks for all your hard work!
  22. Interesting stuff as always, B-Scanner.
  23. Youda, That Tomcat lost because the Hornet (with zero energy) has nose authority at those slow speeds... not to mention a ridiculous lucky shot outside the pipper. As to the 10.5 G pulled.... I still personally consider paddle-switching in the Hornet to be cheating and don't ever do it, but to each their own. My guess is that the majority of folks on the forums here that think the Hornet is whooping up on them too much in BFM are falling victim to Hornet opponents that pull the paddle switch... which I think is dumb. Even GS pulls the paddle switch in one of his recent Hornet vids. Sheesh...
