  1. +1 To looking forward to whenever these long rumored clouds and weather make their appearances. Cheers, Ziptie
  2. +1 So annoying and immersion breaking. Cheers, Ziptie
  3. You can download VR scratchpad - when a JTAC gives a nineline, all you have to do is press the +L/L button on the VR scratchpad and it copies all the information into the VR scratchpad. Then you can reference it quickly, add your own notes, delete information, etc. I use it ALL the time. Best part about it is: it keeps the information there if you don't delete it - so I've got coordinates for airfields and other locations, for 3 different maps, that have been added over multiple years of flying. Very very handy, worth checking out. Cheers, Ziptie
  4. Yes sir, that is a big improvement compared to 24 hours ago for sure! Get the aircraft setup for landing nice and early when starting out. Don't worry about following the pattern to start, just line up aft of the boat, do your best to keep on speed AOA (indicators to the left of the HUD), do your best to keep the velocity vector on the 3 wire and you should be constantly making adjustments to the throttle to accomplish all the things above. Don't line up too far out, as sometimes this can actually become more difficult to get the aircraft onto the boat. There is a recent thread with a little bit of general advice for getting the aircraft onto the boat here: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/7154274-carrier-landing There are other good videos / documents out there, but I don't think it's worth getting too caught up in bunch of details at the beginning. Cheers, Ziptie
  5. Glad you were able to get it sorted out sir. I had a hunch it might have been game mode: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/7152658-supercarrier-launch-issue?p=7153245#post7153245 Good to know the ED's support team are quick to reply and also pointed you in the correct direction!! Regardless, glad you have it sorted and can now enjoy the ride! Cheers, Ziptie
  6. THIS MISSION IS BASED ON REALISM SO PLEASE : + Be familiar with the aircraft you have chosen and weapons you intend to employ. + Take a realistic weapon loadout, only weapons you need. + Brevity while on active comms. + Always call out your A/A and A/G missile employments. + All resources are limited: weapons, fuel and airframes. For this reason your primary objective is to stay alive, therefore you should bugout if you're at higher than normal risk and conserve stores until it is feasible to employ them with risk reduced to a manageable level. + If you do not use all stores during a flight and are planning on leaving the server, upon RTB: Contact ground crew to remove payload and if you are planning on switching aircraft or leaving the server, please defuel the aircraft along with removing the stores and return to spectators . This will allow others more resources for future flights. + If you are going to leave the server, you need to go back to spectator role after you have landed and de-armed/de-fueled the aircraft. If you do not do this - the aircraft, weapons and fuel will not be put back into the warehouse inventory. + The mission is not designed for 1 person, due to the perpetual nature of the server and the way the threats come at you, the server is set to pause when nobody is in it. PLEASE NOTE: merely being in a spectator slot is classed as being in the mission, and will un-pause the server, which is detrimental to the squadron's progress. + All things outlined above are with the squadron in mind. This is a team mission, not a solo mission. Please remember this. + Work together and have fun! MISSION FEATURES INCLUDE: + Limited resources both airframes and munitions, and a realistic way of giving you new assets and moving them around the map using various custom and inbuilt mechanics, with future mechanics in the works that will change the game, including: + Custom Warehouse System, allowing airframes, munitions and fuel to be distributed by players to airfields in need. A.I. flights can also be tasked to perform this via the personal radio menu. + Heavily customized CTLD & Manual JTAC. + Base capture logic, including ability to defend with SAM assets, troops. + Mission persistence, almost all of the state of this mission is saved from session to session reboot to reboot. When we finish an Op day the DB is saved and it does continue through the week if the server is up but consider it 'testing' unless otherwise stated, it will generally be reset back to end of last official Op state. + GOAP (Goal oriented action planning) AI; A custom AI model (main development line at the minute) which has a set of goals, and it given a set of tools to use to achieve those goals constrained by a set of rules. This produces a diverse, dynamic and unpredictable opponent who not only considers the state of play when making decisions but plans for your reaction and prepares the reaction. Nothing is pre-scripted, its all done at runtime, so nothing is ever the same. This may feel like a normal ME made mission for a short time, but given a few sessions you will see this AI is not what you might normally expect. Also... Be wary of engaging them, they may have tactics and strategies that you might expect only a human might think of. + Side quests, including downed pilot recovery via rotary wing operations. + Mission support, requested via personal radio menu for AI CAP. + Carrier group and airfield operations. AVAILABLE VIA CREDITS EARNED IN GAME: + Custom Reaper drone strike system with hellfire missiles via personal radio menu. + Reaper drone recon system via personal radio menu. + Personal escort flights for fixed and rotary wing aircraft via personal radio menu. + Tomahawk missile strikes via personal radio menu. + Much much more but don't want to ruin all the surprises, via personal radio menu . Cheers, Ziptie
  7. "Ladder is constantly updated fuel reserve depending on the situation etc that is close to USAF “joker”." https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dlc-campaigns/baltic-dragon/f-a-18c-raven-one-campaign/286776-set-ladder-to-5000-tank-to-3000?p=6387257#post6387257 Cheers, Ziptie
  8. Yeah, your trim continuously increasing in NOSE UP is certainly incorrect. Seems like something is double bound to me. Bummer you already started to opt out of the beta (I run beta as there are at times, many more features available with it compared to stable), as it seems like something that could be sorted via a repair and/or searching for the trim bindings. I agree with the other member(s), certainly something odd going on there..... EDIT: Could it be that auto trim is checked in options menu and causing this issue? Other members care to weigh in on this possible cause being auto trim? I don't have any experience with auto trim being used personally, but have read where other members have had issues with it. Cheers, Ziptie
  9. Excellent, glad we could assist you and that you have sorted it. Much better to not have to mess with it every single time. Makes it more enjoyable for sure. Cheers, Ziptie
  10. Are your flaps actually going to the AUTO position after your gear goes up? Just noticed that they seem to show 30% in the external view, or at least that is what it looks like............ The LEF and TEF's are both extended quite a lot. Can you confirm that the key bind you have set for FLAPS is actually working, or that right clicking the FLAP switch gets it to the AUTO position? This is quite an odd issue to be having for sure, wish I could watch the track file replay.. Cheers, Ziptie
  11. As long as you only edit the values inside the file (like flare qty, chaff qty, repeat, interval) you will be fine. Leave the file name and extension the same ( CMDS_ALE47.lua ) - no, you have no risk. Any repair or update will overwrite the file and place it back to stock configuration, hence the recommendation to save a copy of your modified file in another location, for quick replacement after any repair or update. Cheers, Ziptie
  12. @Harker correctly given you the directory and file in question. As he stated, you can use a mod manager - or you can follow the method I outlined above. Personally I don't like the mod managers and prefer to do it the 'manual way.' To each their own. Also, it's best to edit with Notepad++ (but you can get away with editing via regular Notepad)...... If you struggle to get it sorted by editing, just let us know here and it's easy enough to have one of us modify our file and send it to you. Cheers, Ziptie
  13. I'll have to sit out on watching the track as I am away from DCS PC and using laptop, the pictures are a bit tough to make out - what are the STAB settings reading? Tough to tell if that says 12, 15, or 16 in the image. For the record, the STABs are rarely set at the correct number for any missions that I have flown - typically requires an adjustment by the pilot. TRIM AFT (NOSE UP) to get the STAB to increase deflection (again sweet spot would be 16-19). You've double check the axis' binds correct? No conflictions? Ensured 'game mode' is note enabled in the DCS main menu, options screen? Ensuring those axis' binds are doubled up in the "F18 SIM" controls binding category? Hopefully someone is able to watch the track and fill you in on something that is missing. Cheers, Ziptie
  14. At the end of the flight, when you hit escape and chose exit - at the bottom of the next screen there is a button towards the bottom that says 'save track' or something close to that. Save it and then upload it here. These need to be relatively short - so best bet is to startup the aircraft, get it on the CAT, follow procedures outlined above, launch. If you hit the water or the aircraft has the same reaction you've been describing - hit escape, select exit, bottom of next screen click 'save track' or whatever it says (you'll see it). Then upload it here. Cheers, Ziptie
  15. Exactly this, and why the recommendation to edit the .lua file OP. Until they implement the long talked about data cartridges, we won't be getting this feature anytime soon, sadly. Side note: I also do the very same thing for the first 4 programs in the A10C (II - still dislike having to clarify the II) - as I can't be bothered to change them. It is highly annoying indeed. Cheers, Ziptie
  16. What altitude are you at? What altitude is the bandit at? What speed are you at? Is the AIM-120C in AUTO or MAN mode? Are you engaging with STT lock or TWS? Are you using Stable version, or Open Beta version? A cold aspect shot is typically one of the most common miss scenario's in DCS, not sure why - that being said, the range you are saying, 5nm, is exceptionally close. I regularly get kills with the AIM0120C from the Hornet, on HOT, flanking and cold engaements from 20+nm, so seems like an isolated issue to me. I've scored kills with TWS from in excess of 30nm (and not playing against DCS' normal baked AI). Cheers, Ziptie
  17. For now, simply edit the .lua file - save a backup copy of it in a different location, so you can replace it once an update is downloaded for DCS - then simply copy and replace the original file again. I haven't had to setup the counter measures system in the Hornet for nearly a year. Every time I get in, program 1 and program 5 are good to go. Just turn the systems on, enable them and done. That is for the interim, until they sort this out - but it's been what, a year and a half or close to two years since the Hornet was released? Doubt it's coming anytime soon. You also are not supposed to be required to have the master arm switch in ARM position to dispense chaff and flare - but they've got that incorrect as well. Worth doing what is suggested in my original 'paragraph' to save yourself some sanity until they address it. If you are unsure of how to do this, just tell me what you want program 1 to do, and what you want program 5 to do - I will edit the .lua and attach it so you can simply download it and copy and paste it for yourself. Cheers, Ziptie
  18. To me, it looks like you have an axis or other binding issue - if your STABs have been set between 16-19 depending on aircraft weight. Do your control surface wipe after being hooked up to the CAT, center the stick, reference FCS page and set STABs to 16 (this works for most loadouts), ensure your launch bar switch is set to the retract position. Go MIL power, then full AB, then salute - should be successful with a slight command of aft input after clearing the deck. Gear up immediately, then flaps to auto while maintaining level flight at 300-500 ft - or you can climb at a 7-10 degree nose up attitude if you aren't trying to follow full procedure, pulling back to MIL power after reaching 300 knots and continue the climb. Would be useful to have a YouTube video uploaded that shows the cockpit view after initial CAT hookup. If you can't upload a track file for others to see, try to screen capture a video that shows more. Side thought/note: GAME MODE isn't being used correct? If so, disable that via main options menu and try again. Cheers, Ziptie
  19. I've noticed this happening on the Syria map and Persian Gulf maps both, as of recent. At Bandar E-Jask and at Al-Dhafra, for example on the PG map. Most notably at the Syria map, at Incirlik - as another stated, there is quite a lot of slope at many of the parking areas here. ED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please put in wheel chocks via the ground crew for the A10C, it's fairly ridiculous that the option hasn't been there for a long time - considering how old the 'original' model is. The A10C uses wheel chocks in real life (like other aircraft), and not having a parking brake makes this an absolute must!!!!!!!! Shouldn't be a wish list item, it should be a *bug* that they aren't already available..... Keep working hard, you guys are doing some pretty great thing - keep after it! Cheers, Ziptie
  20. Perfect. Went through the steps and got it sorted and confirmed as a bug. Well done sir. Bummer, but well done. Cheers, Ziptie
  21. Don't believe you will pick them up on SA page until you've acquired them via radar. It is very important that you go into the HSI, DATA, then scroll up through the waypoints until you see ROCK displayed at the top line (I forget which waypoint it is for that mission), then you need to set it as the A/A waypoint (aka bullseye) by pressing the OSB on the left column, second from the bottom (A/A WYPT?) This is how you create a bullseye reference in the Hornet. After you've done this, you will notice that you get additional information on the HSI, SA page, and the RDR ATTK page. You get references to bullseye via these sensors - which will ultimately help you not only find the contact in question - but give you further SA during missions (not just exclusive to this campaign). Do that, and you will be able to slew the TDC on the radar to match the BRAA from BULLS that the AWACS is giving you, and make it much easier to find. Don't forget to adjust your radar elevation scan to match the altitude given for the contact. Cheers, Ziptie
  22. I would try moving the INS knob to the IFA position after alignment is complete - just to see if there is an issue with having it in NAV position. There was talk on the forums in a thread (I do not recall which one) about certain dates of missions and where the INS knob needs to be positioned. Not saying you are doing anything wrong necessarily - but could be an issue with that. Cheers, Ziptie
  23. I've purchased several campaigns (for A10C and F/A-18C) and without question, it's the best campaign I've acquired. Not even a close second in the running. I'd endorse it for sure. Actually just started it over after completing it a few weeks ago, this time I will be making different decisions when they are presented to me, to see what differences occur throughout the campaign. Highly recommend it. Cheers, Ziptie
  24. Try with it in the IFA position to see if it resolves the issue - if the issue is replicable. Cheers, Ziptie
  25. What position did you move your INS knob to after alignment was completed? Cheers, Ziptie
