In the interim , a can of contact cleaner will prolly work wonders on your old stick . Spray it into pots and switches while cycling them . I'd spray the joystick usb connector as well .

That's some excellent advice ! I have lately found my outdoor activity to be severely circumscribed by the effects of ageing . So yeah , enjoy it while you can .

As to headset , check out the HP Reverb G2 . As to heavily loaded missions , that is cpu . Your options are to wait for DCS engine improvements , or setup a separate server on your pc to take advantage of more core usage .

My Razer Kraken fits well . Good mic , decent audio , relatively inexpensive when i got it 3 years ago . No problems to date .

You're right , but that won't increase the the vram , a major concern of mine .

You will be waiting for a 3080 too :) I have decided on a 6800xt , which offers comparable performance to the 3080 , and 16gb vram , even though i'm running Intel . 5900x and 6800xt also offers the possibility of cpu directly accessing gpu vram , offering the potential for a significant performance boost . Skatezilla said this is done via Windows drivers , which i interpret as needing no developer support . Finally , Aurelius on these forums appears mightily impressed with RDNA2 performance in DCS VR , although he is limited as to what he can say due to NDA .

Were i in your shoes , i'd definitely get the 6800xt . Quite aside from the (possible) benefits of direct-to-memory , it's gonna take Nvidea a while to react and rush out an answer to that card .

Or replace the casters with ones incorporating brakes . I did mine for about $16 on ebay .

I'm having a lot of trouble linking posts . Have found 3 ways of doing so but none are consistent . This using a tablet .

I'm very interested in the 6800xt , but have a lot of questions . Driver history , tessalation performance (surely important in DCS ?) and the overall lack of DCS performance reviews with RDNA 1 are all kinda scary issues to a Nvidia user . I have the feeling it's going to take a while to make an informed decision , but my 1070 is barely holding its own with my RiftS , and the G2 has to wait on a gpu , so the sooner the better ! (edit) Just read Aurelious' post regarding 6900xt . Wow .

I never tire of hearing newbie responses to DCS in VR . It is amazing .

My experience is that DCS will try to boot in the mode it was last in , which seems to be the cause of your problem . There are a couple of ways to ensure DCS boots it the manner you wish . Skatezilla has a very useful (and free) utility in the DCS World Topics/mods/dcs mods section . Look for Skatezilla's Updater GUI . Note that this is not a mod in the usual sense of the term (it doesn't modify anything) and can be used without fear .

Are you unplugging the headset to allow pancake mode ? Are you aware that you can launch DCS in VR or pancake mode with the headset connected ?

EW systems are some of the most highly-classified out there , even relatively old ones . A6 ? Sure . EA6 not so much .

Must say i don't get the repeated calls for decoupling . I like it the way it is although i have no problem with decoupling being an Option . But i do not think it would be as simple as some would think , and i anticipate posts from users saying "can't reach switch xyz on the side console with mouse cursor" upon implementation .

Yeah , Nvidea seems to be saying "If you want more than 10gb , you'll have to buy a 3090" . That card is overkill on so many levels ! I see AMD selling a lot more 6900's to disappointed Nvidea users-likely me for one-pending some benchmarks . it's a shame . That Asus TUF was looking mighty good with 20gb - and i never considered Asus before !
